Red Wing Heritage Reviews
I will start off by saying I love Red Wing heritage boots! I wear these everyday to work. Worth every penny. The Black cherry color ages and looks better every day. I am constantly amazed by how comfortable these boots are. Short break in period and then they are part of you. I like them so much a got a pair in black. Size down one whole size.

I own several pairs of Red Wing Heritage boots and they have all exceeded expectations. The leather is not as nice as the leather on a Beckman but that is the only bad thing I have to say. At first the heel slipped slightly, that went away after the first day of wear. I broke these in building a fence over a long weekend and now they are as comfortable as all my other heritage boots. Worth the extra money to buy something well made here in america. If they ever wear out I will replace.
Excellent pair of boots! Best pair of boots I have ever purchased hands down. You get what you pay for. Excellent quality and style, would recommend this to anyone looking for some work boots or just going out on a town.
Great chukkas with Made in the USA quality. I got mine in the blueberry color which is a nice medium blue. The suede is a low nap and appears closer to Nubuck. It's been very durable so far. They work well with jeans and khakis. Expect several wearings before they break in properly. Until then they're a bit uncomfortable but once they've molded to your foot they're great. These don't have any arch support so I put in some Superfeet insoles which work well. The footbed is leather and not cardboard as some other brands I've tried. They run half a size large for me so I sized down.
As promised: A great shoe that is both handsome, well made, and comfortable. They were a perfect fit at my usual size, (9.5). Love 'em like a kid that doesn't want to take them off at bedtime.
These boot fit great but beware of width. I wear 11 B in the red wing boots 923 and the Red Wing Motorcycle boots 969. These fit Just like those after I inserted a much needed Red Wing Redbed insole. They fit great perfectly for my size and will take a long time to break in but I can tell they are well worth the money.
Great boots! These fit like a glove after break in and I love them. Like any leather product these will stretch a bit during break in so be sure to have your correct size to start.
Great boots, very stylish and durable, I ordered a full size smaller than my normal shoe size. The break in period was about one month, after which they felt very comfortable. The laces could stand to be 1-2" longer.
Trying to be objective about this boot, which seems to have a cult like following, I found the tongue sewn way too high up the boot to be able to get my foot into it without a lot of effort. The tongue is also bulky and doesn't lay flat. Finally, the laces are too short to tie. I think these are going back to Zappos.
I own another pair of the moc/toe heritage work boots and I knew that Red Wing runs about a full size large and take a long time to break in. Surprisingly these broke in nicely after a few weeks as the others a few months. The scuff easily but a little leather cleaner and mink oil keep them looking new. I love these and you will too!
These boots are great. Well worth the money. I bought both a half size and a full size down from my standard size and landed on the full size down. Love them!
I've been drooling over a pair of Red Wing boots for well over a year now. Well, my patience was rewarded when these puppies arrived in the mail today (thanks for super awesome overnight shipping Zappos!). After reading a couple other reviews I ordered a 1/2 size below what I normally would and they fit perfect. I'm normally a size 12 (ordered the 11.5's) with a very wide toebox and midsole. I was concerned that the mid-sole would not be wide enough for my boats but these are perfect! Although I will say that any narrower and they would be snug - it just happens that they fit perfect though. The actual style and construction of the boots are top notch. I'm wearing them with dark jeans for work / casual wear. They were comfy out of the box and I can imagine that they'll only get better over time. Highly recommended! Definitely worth the money!
This is easily my favorite boot. They look great, and are extremely well put together. This boot, taken care of, will last you the rest of your life.
I wear these in cigar and really think they're beautiful. There are a few cheap looking elements, but thankfully they can be remedied with a little bit of effort. Unlike the 1000 Mile from Wolverine, the eyelets on the Beckman are black. If you wish, you may scrape the black material off and reveal the brass underneath. I believe this gives the boot a more distinguished look. Also, the black leather piping around the rim cheapens it somehow. I removed it carefully with an x-acto blade and am much prouder when I put them on. The leather sole does begin to come asunder if it becomes saturated with water and swells. Know that the stitching is intact but a noticeable void will appear. I've rubbed some Mink Oil in the crack and the leather sort of takes it on and is re-hydrated, but its not ideal or like new. The leather is not as buttery as the 1000 Mile, but is thicker and I trust it. If you are mindful about oiling, the leather softens and the color deepens, complicates, and yes...darkens. I've intentionally left them in the sun for consecutive days and noticed that it lightens them and I'm thankful for it. If you want to return the color to its deeper shade Mink Oil will do it. The toe box is flatter and wider than the 1000 Mile and I appreciate that. If it were available, I may have gone with a wider size. I advise against cutting the folded part of the tongue to relieve any pressure on your foot. The pain goes away and you'll have peace of mind knowing that you boot isn't compromised. When I get them resoled I will have Red Wing throw a stacked wooden heel on like the oxford Beckman's or Chukka to really raise they douchy factor. That's all for now. I've only owned them for 9 months so maybe I'll have more to say someday.
The quality of these boots are undeniable, which can mean it's not going to be so fun breaking them in. But I've had them for a few months now and the footbed has formed to the shape of my feet and they are pretty comfortable. I can pretty much walk on any surface I like without discomfort. I was very surprised with the laces, they are the sturdiest laces I've ever felt and I think they have a wax coating. You can really tell the difference between this boot and other fashion oriented brand boots. I definitely see myself wearing these boots for a long time. I would probably even buy a new pair if I lost them wore them out, but I suspect they're reconstruction/refurbish-able. I know some companies like Danner have boot refurbishment services.
Great, fast shipping from Zappos. Ordered one pair of these that came defective from manufacturer, and they swapped them out right away.
Good quality boot. The break-in is a bit long, but I believe that is a sign of the durability of this boot. Not the easiest thing to get my foot into each day but I'm well protected once I get it in there.
I was attracted me to these boots because of their looks and materials. I currently own several Red Wings (Beckman 9011 and 9016) and they are similar in construction however the 9011 and 9016 are built on a last 8 while this model 9024 is built around last 224 (a last is a form in the approximate shape of a human foot, used by shoemakers in the manufacture and repair of shoes). While models 9011 and 9016 seem to run a little larger, model 9024 felt more true to size all around; so I recommend ordering your true size (otherwise, exchanges are easy with Zappos). Like other Redwing Heritage models there is no arch support and no cushioning of any kind, just a leather footbed, which is supposed to mold to your foot over time as you break-in your new leather boots. It feels like walking on wood. I like arc support and use insoles on all my Red Wings, however, due to a more accurate fit; I could not use full-length insoles on this model, as the pressure on the top of my foot (right at the base of the metatarsals) was too much. I end up using a 34" length Powerstep Pro insoles, which you can get via Amazon at a very good prize. Remember that foot comfort is more to do with proper support than lots of cushioning, so using a good insole like the Powersteps Pro will make a huge difference on your feet, especially if you, like me, are on your feet a lot. I decided to break in these boots without using insoles first. I wore them for a week with thick socks (made for steel toe boots, they are thick all around your foot, not just the bottom, wolverine has some nice cotton socks for steel toe boots and you can get them at JC Penny). After a week I put the 34" Powerstep Pro insoles and the rest is history. The boots look great with jeans, or khakis, casual or business casual. I do not think they will cut it for business attire let alone a suit and tie, but you will not go wrong with a nice pair of jeans, long sleeve shirt and a sport coat. The boots do draw some attention, as they are not your average shoes, just look around and you will see. They will take a great shine as you wax them. Bottom line, I am very happy with my purchase.
