Ralph Lauren Collection Reviews
Reviewer: Elemental Travel from Weehawken, NJ & Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Overall: Comfort: Style:
The Ralph Lauren "Ingon" is a modern classic Men's Italian strap sandal. This is more of a day walking/Resort sandal rather than something you wear to the beach. Looks great with neat shorts or jeans. Throw on a pair of "trim/slim" cut Khaki trousers and a great shirt, perfect for afternoon casual. This is the perfect sandal for Resort wear or in the city during summer when you want a classy look instead of beach bum "flip/flops" ( Come on guys, save the flip flops for the pool or shower). The Ignon sandal straps are comfortable. The leather seems to be of decent enough quality. I do have concerns of how much stretching the straps will show after two or three seasons. I used to love sandals made by Cole Haan. Ten years ago they produced amazing men's sandals, but they have since lost their way. The Ralph Lauren Ignon can stand next to fine Italian sandals costing twice the price.
Update to my previous review: Third time is the charm, apparently. These shoes run really small. I ultimately went up a full size after ordering my regular size, then 1/2 size up, then another 1/2 size up. Very cute, very comfortable. Skinny ankles means the heel straps slide, though. Extremely lightweight shoe.
These are so cute! I love them! They are very comfortable. But the first pair has to go back because they are too small. I am normally an 8½ and my toes are squashed up against the front of the espedrille. I just put in the order for a size 9.
These shoes look great, but I am normally a 9.5 and I ordered that size, well these are the tiniest 9.5 I have ever tried! Didn't fit at all! It was like trying on a children's shoe. My feet are also on the wider side, so these shoes were too narrow for me. Shame, I cannot keep these.
The best way to describe this shoe is that wearing it gives me a lift...both physically and mentally, the kind of which I have never felt from a pair of shoes before. I often find myself looking down and admiring them, which can sometimes be dangerous. It is a shoe of utmost quality. The leather and finish inside and out is impeccable, and it looks and feels like it will last forever (certainly my lifetime since I don't expect my feet to grow and I'm very easy on shoes). The style is classic. I always wanted a good wingtip, sort of like the ones my father used to wear. These fit the bill, although they're not quite "your father's wingtip." They are just rugged enough to work with jeans as well as khakis, and some styles of dress pants. As I was searching on Zappos for this type of shoe I came upon these toward the end of my search...and as it often turns out, the ones you like the best are also the most expensive. These are outrageously expensive...so I thought hard about the purchase. So far I'm very happy with them. Obviously a major downside is the price. The only other shoes I have approaching this price range are Michael Toschis, and I'd say this shoe is a notch above the Toschi's, and priced accordingly above. So I'm not an expert at judging value in this stratosphere of shoe pricing, but I do feel like this shoe carries a bit too high a premium for the Ralph Lauren name, which I couldn't care less about. I'd rather it be from a non-designer label at a lower price, but that's just not available so I'm living with the extra money that's tacked on for the RL name. If you feel like treating yourself and can stretch the budget, go for it. I think they're worth the investment when compared to spending the same amount on three or four pairs of lesser quality shoes and not getting "the lift" from any of them.

I always prefer a slightly larger size in a lace up shoe so I ordered a 1/2 size up – it’s perfect. What a great shoe this is! Totally cute with shorts, skirts, or pants. I was looking for an alternative to sneakers and sandals. Although I don’t love the faint silver thread through the linen/khaki, it’s not as noticeable as I thought. Love the platform and the cute summer vibe. Works with or without socks.
