Hip & Classic Boots - Soft leather with gentle slouch - stays firmly up but with a little rumpled appearance. These look adorable with tights and a skirt or skinny pants, even for an over 40 sort such as myself. My normal size fits perfectly except for a little loose in the heel. My feet tend towards the narrow side of medium width, so I am accustomed to this. Can even be worn sockless!

Beautiful boot. There's no mistaking that these boots are gorgeous. Beautiful craftsmanship, which makes the price tag easier to swallow. Frye boots are almost indestructible, for sure. I ended up going for the classic engineer instead of these, though. I thought the slimmer toe on these looked odd. Online they looked a bit more rugged. Now I'm ordering the engineer 12R, for the more rugged look. The Veronica was true to size, and 'slightly' tight to get into the boot, but felt awesome on.

Comfy and classic Frye! These are great! Very nicely made and a good fit. I have slightly wide feet and large calves and these fit perfectly in my regular size. They are a great height too -- nice with a longer skirt and very cute with cuffed up jeans. Because they are wider (and a bit shorter) I can actually tuck narrow jeans in -- something difficult for me normally.

Too clunky, poor design - I usually wear a size 8, but I read that Frye recommends going up a half size. I did that, and the boot was too large. It was also too stiff, with minimal arch support, and almost no padding on the insole. I must have slender calves because the shaft of the boot was also much too loose - even with the buckle strap to cinch it in. And speaking of buckle strap, the straps were only glued (not stitched) and one of the lower straps had already started to split apart. There was really nothing about this boot that tempted me to try the smaller size.

Perfection - These boots are incredible. My roommate had them first and I loved hers so much I got them too. I had reservations about how expensive they were, but like all my other Frye shoes, they are worth every penny. The only thing that disappointed me was that unlike my Frye Harness boots, they were not made in USA, but in Mexico. Like all Frye’s, they were painful to break in, but only for the first few wears. A little lose in the heel; the fit is incredible, and true to size, with socks, although I prefer to wear them without.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Great classic boot - If you know you don't want a tailored cushy boot, but you want a classic boot that will last for years instead, these boots are for you! the fit is slightly loose in the calves, they don't have a ton of padding but have the typical Frye quality. Very high quality leather that may be stiff at first but will break in with time, extremely well-made outer and inner-sole. I totally agree with the other reviewer that these boots are ageless and will go with just about anything, skirts, dresses, leggings, pants. I love them and wear them all the time. The heel is a bit loose on me so I wear socks. They are getting better and better each time I wear them. I got them in my normal boot size (which is a half size larger than sandals or pumps for me.)

Great shoe and great website - This shoe is incredibly comfortable and works great with many different outfits. If you can find them in your size, I definitely recommend buying them from this site, because they are harder to find in stores (at least in the size I was looking for). Also, the free next-day shipping is great and very reliable.

A little pricey but still a good buy - This is a nice looking boot but as a previous review said the heel tends to be a bit loose and made my heels raw on the first wearing. A slightly thicker sock seems to solve the problem and makes the shoe quite comfortable. Well constructed and great styling makes it a solid 4 stars.

Nice boots - I just got these boots today. They are really nice. They seem true to size, but the heel slips. I'm wearing them with heavier socks just to break them in. Hopefully in a few days they will fit like a glove. I love them!!! P.S. If you have wide feet, these may not be the boots for you. Hope this helps.

Super everyday boot - What it lacks in immediate comfort it makes up in looks. Frye seems to focus more on styling than immediate comfort, which, for some of us who don't mind taking the time to break our shoes in, is fine. Is that old-fashioned? Eventually this boot will conform to my foot which the more cushy shoes never really seem to. I love the look and if Frye boots were less expensive would probably own one in every style.

Nice boot, but very uncomfortable. Nope, that boot doesn't work for me! It has a great look, but despite I had it in my exact size. The Bootleg is definitely too wide, even at the heel; walking around gave me an inconvenient slippy feeling. Sorry, it's a great looking and it's true to the size, but it doesn't promise what it looks like.

My recent purchase - I was first time buyer with Zappos and I have to say that the experience was flawless. I have ordered on line before with other companies and was informed I would receive the item at a certain time. Oh, what a surprise they were not delivered when told. Dealing with Zappos, it was not only very simple to place the order but I received the item just like they say. I was so impressed with the service and the staff. So far I am a big Zappos fan.

GREAT EVERYDAY BOOT! I LOVE THESE BOOTS! I love that they are a motorcycle boot, yet still feminine. They are true to size. It will take a little while to break them in. I am very happy with my purchase.

Great boots -- stylish, comfortable, high quality - I just got these in black. I had been eying these for a while and finally took the plunge. I wasn't disappointed. I am usually a 7, sometimes a 6.5, and I ordered the 7. I felt they were true to size, perhaps a tiny bit snug, but I'm sure they will mold to my feet with a few wearings. The heel does slip a bit, but it didn't bother me when walking. I love how they look -- they are not too trendy, but definitely not too classic either. The only issue I had was that the leather in the first pair I ordered was different per boot. One boot was great, the other was sort of more faded and the surface more puckered, almost like lizard. But Zappos immediately sent me a replacement pair at no charge, and the leather was a much better match in the second pair. I am in the process of returning the first. I want the tall ones now in brown!

These boots would get a 5 on comfort, but I'm still breaking them in. In another two wears, I guarantee they'll be a 5. Not that they weren't comfortable first time wearing. Had no problem except top of boot rubbed my leg just a little. I love these boots. They look fantastic and my guess is I'm going to wear them all the time.

Wonderful! I love these boots. I bought them for a boot to wear while riding on my Harley but they are so comfortable that I wear them all the time. They fit much better then the Frye Square toe boots and look great!

These are fantastic! These boots are beautiful and after a little breaking in, very comfortable. The width feels good on me even though I have a wide foot so I suspect these run a little wide. I can't wait until the weather turns cool. I know I'm going to live in them.

Love them - Slip in the heels which caused a blister, but bought some mole-skin and put it on the heel and now fine. Love them, a chic derelict look that reminds me of "The Breakfast Club".
