As a fan of many of the NBA players in the 1970's (especially Pete Maravich), I wore the Royal Master Suede back then. In those days, the shoes were hard to find. And because of that, I got away from ProKeds for many years. I re-discovered the brand about 5 years ago while browsing an athletic shoe store. I saw a pair of the Royal Master Suede on the shelf. I had to have them, so I walked out of the store with a big smile on my face, carrying my newly bought ProKeds under my arm. I have since ordered another pair through Zappos, not wanting to lose the connection to ProKeds again. The shoes are just like I remembered them some 30 years before, comfortable and durable. When these 2 pair wear out, I plan to order the Royal Master Suede again. However, I wish they were made in the several different colors (especially white) like they were in the early 70's, rather than just black and blue suede. I would own one of each color. Thanks for bringing the Royal Master Suede back.

This shoe is super cute and I have received many compliments. Unfortunately, not very comfy. Not much more padding than Chuck Taylors. It's not an uncomfortable shoe, but nothing you want to take a long walk in the city in. The reflective stripes are awesome for bike riding at night though, you'll definitely be seen! Also, they are rather long and my foot isn't exactly petite, but I've gotten over the goofy foot issues as they are so cool looking.

It is inevitable that people mistake these amazing sneakers as Converse, but although they may look similar, the Pro-Ked Royal is far superior in many ways!! I have worn both brands, and there is no way I can go back to Converse now that I've had the Pro-Keds. I walk quite a bit and these shoes just last so much longer! They are also a little wider and fit better at the ankle. I've also spent a lot of time on my feet and never needed to use arch support inserts with the Pro-Keds. Overall, a really great sneaker!

Pro Keds, still the style - Super comfy, stylish beyond trends, this shoe is a must wear! Chuck Taylors may be the Rolls Royce of classic b-ball shoes, but Pro Keds are the Bentley.

Fun, Bright Shoes - These shoes are pretty comfy and boy are they bright red! The red *will* leach out to dye your socks and things, so watch out. It comes right off. The shoe is also quite narrow and long so you might feel a bit like Ronald McDonald when you put them on.

They were perfect, just like when I was a kid. I like the insert in the shoe. I just wish they had the original blue pro-keds label that goes on the heel of the sneaker.

Upgrade your All-Stars - I decided to try these out to see whether I could benefit from a Cons-esque shoe that offered (1) half-sizes and (2) a little more support underneath. It was a relief to get a "true" 10.5-sized shoe, and yes, there's a bit more cushion underneath. Nothing against Cons -- they're still the classic -- but I'm happy to try even this slight update.

As I remember them - My Pro-Ked's are great!!! I only have one boggle, when I walk they sometimes squeak. It does depend upon what type of socks I wear but who wants someone to hear them coming before they enter the room? If anyone knows the cause and remedy for this please respond. Other than that the shoes are great! I'll be purchasing black and white in the same style.

Back to my childhood - These shoes take me all the way back to New York City as a kid in the early 70's. I get many looks and compliments and people are always asking where I got the old school shoes from. I will be buying the white ones real soon. You guys are the best.

Vintage Pro Keds - These are a top quality vintage sneaker which have not been available for many years. I love them although I wish they were available in low top. I found low top available on another web site but I am a loyal Zappos customer and will wait (but not too long) for Zappos to offer them. Great sneaker.

A very cool sneaker - I had been looking for Vintage Pro Keds for years and was very pleased when Zappos started offering them for sale. The Blue Gradient color, although not a vintage color, makes an awesome looking sneaker. And the multi color shoe laces compliment the sneaker. I wish this was available in low top. I would suggest buying a half size up, as my usual size seven in this sneaker fits a bit snugly. I would also mention that it is a very well made sneaker. It's a top quality canvas sneaker.

Pro-Keds Court King Leather - This is the second pair of Pro KEDS I buy and I am still loving them. They look and feel good. Could have more arch support. Whenever I wear them, people compliment them.

The right shoe at the right time - Just what I'd hoped for: a great looking throwback that's as comfortable as can be. Fit like a glove right out of the box and the leather seems to be of good quality (I did add a coat or two of mink oil after I bought them to keep the leather relatively protected). I wish I could find other shoes that offer the same level of style and fit!

Poorly Built - I typically stick with Adidas Old-School Court shoes for casual wear (Nastase, Rod Laver's, etc.). I ordered these because I liked the color. Poor construction (letters falling off, sole looks to be unfinished). Also, seem to run a half-size large. In all, will not order Pro-Keds again. Sticking with Adidas...

I’m really glad I found these shoes on Zappos! I’ve been looking for these shoes everywhere. I usually would not buy shoes on-line, but my wife had a great experience buying a couple of pair of shoes for our wedding from Zappos, that I had to give it a try. The first pair I ordered were a size half size to small but their return policy made it easy and fast to get the right pair. Think for the most part, the next pair of shoes I buy will be from Zappos! Thanks.

Great sneaks - Great shoes for loafing around...and even comfy enough for substantial urban walking...have gotten many compliments on their look and am super-happy with the purchase. Pro-keds have really made a terrific comeback as a brand...get 'em!

Bring your style forward with these "throw-back" sneakers! These sneakers are just as trendy today as they were in the 70's when was I just a lil duke. I liked these sneakers so much, over time here @ Zappos I've purchased four Court King's (2) in brown, (1) green & another (1) in black. I prefer Keds durability over the Converse Chucks. So without question, if you want to keep 'it' forward move in these Pro-Keds.

Still kickin it - Pro Keds Royals are the royalty of the canvas and vulcanized rubber shoe. Let’s be real here. All Stars kick it hard and they are truly classics, but the Pro-Keds are the butter of the class. Also, it seems that a few modern upgrades have been made to improve fit and comfort.

A great Retro - This brings back memories of years ago. However, with the updated insole the shoe is far more comfortable than the originals. I gave it four stars because I don't think the comfort can rival a modern cross trainer. I might try an aftermarket insole to see. It fills the bill for a leisure shoe but like the previous reviewer noted I don't think I'd want to walk 10 miles in them. Still, it has the Chucks beat in comfort.

Thumbs up For White Pro-Ked's Royal Lo Leather - Great classic looking shoe! These aren't something that you can walk in for days and days, but the style compliments the everyday casual jeans and polo. A must have for every guy that just want to kick back, but also let others know that they have some type of retro style!

Improvements Helps - The removable insoles reduce the shoe size by 1/2; therefore, you should order a half larger than marked if you have a wide or irregular foot. On the other hand, the arch support goes from none to moderate. Perhaps, converse could take some lessons from Pro-Keds and PF-Flyers when they consider their Chuck Taylors for improvements.

PRO-Keds began in 1949 as a brand aimed at sports and athletic performance. Based on quality, durability and a solid reputation, PRO-Keds became one of the leading names in athletic footwear.
