These shoes seem well made with good structure. The sole foam is fairly uniform with a very good tread for trails. The toe box could be a tad wider for my wide forefoot so I don't know yet if it'll meet the demands of 20 miles of trail and gravel road without giving me blisters. The shoes are wide enough back by the first lace but then narrow quickly at the tip of the toe. I'd like these will be my trail shoes for an ultramarathon so hopefully there will be enough cushioning to stay comfortable for the long miles.

First, the customer service I received on this shoe from Zappos was beyond their normal level of awesome. Hats off to them for fixing an order mix up and hitting back to back next day deliveries free. Pearl Izumi has become my favorite line of shoes. I'm a trail runner averaging about 20-25 miles weekly with the intent of increasing to marathon levels in the next 4-5 months. This shoe is currently perfect for my long distance trail runs of about 8-10 miles. The fit is near perfect, it's light, and the ride is exceptionally smooth. I'm a flat footed fore-mid foot striker and this shoe makes my stride feel incredibly efficient. Even with an ongoing achilles tendonopathy issue-- the 1mm drop leaves my tendon feeling like new while all of my other low drop shoes leave me with about 2 days recovery for pain and stiffness. It must be something in Pearl Izumi's dynamic offset design that contributes to a run that is much easier on the body. The sole is a perfect compromise between cushioning and firmness. Day one in the shoe felt a little stiff, but it has since broken in very nicely. No hotspots whatsoever. There are a few very minor downsides to this shoe which I can live with but are worth mentioning: First, the shoe is not odor resistant. The last two trails I've hit involved either crossing through streams or splashing through puddles. Even after a thorough rinse-off, there is definitely some pond-like funk that remains. Second, the color schemes available on Zappos are not to my liking. Subjective, sure, but PI offers other color combinations that I would love to see carried by Zappos. Last, I had one post-rain trail outing where I picked up way too much mud (as in pounds per foot), and no amount of grass skiing or stomping was effective in its removal. I was going through heavy clay puddles so it was to be expected-- but there was no degree of self cleaning in the lug system. It cut my run short. Granted, I didn't have this experience in a more recent wet run, so it could have been the clay that was previously encountered on the trail. Overall, this is a brilliantly designed shoe that is worth trying if you are a trail runner. The N1 along with the racing N0 have made me a Pearl Izumi convert. Will likely pick up a few more pairs as they are marked down for the release of the 2015 versions.

I am currently having a love affair with this shoe and my wife just found out during a 10k race this weekend. It's okay because I was able to PR with the shoe and can't nobody be mad at that. This has to be my all time favorite shoe for racing and tempo/speed work. It's soft as a slipper, light, nimble, and despite having achilles tendonopathy issues -- leaves my legs and tendons feeling healthy and ready for another day of running. Despite being a racing flat, I find the cushion and support to be surprisingly perfect. This is coming from a flat footer. There is really nothing bad to be said here...other than the short sole life which I have only read about (and have yet to experience). At only 20 miles in, I hope to get a few more 10ks and 6 months of speed work in before retiring them. I am seriously considering getting a few more pairs. My favorite racing flat hands down.

Stylish shoes for hitting the trails. Unfortunately, they do not accommodate my bunions very well unless I go up to a size that is far long for my foot length. These also do not provide much by way of arch support, either. For the price, I was hoping for more, so regrettably I must return these.

I love how this top fits! I intended it for running, but I did not realize the back is all black (my fault - it was in the photos) not ideal for running at all. I am considering keeping it, or exchanging for a brighter color.

Really enjoying these shoes. The fit is exactly what I expected and I'm getting a kick out of the color. The quality is excellent so sorry Pearl Izumi, looks like it will be a very long time before I'll need another pair. Highly recommend.

The third time is the charm! Had to return the first ones, Giro, because they were labeled 37 and I was told they were 5.5, wrong, they were too big. I really liked them and they had another size 5. The second pair, the right foot, platform was broken, they squeaked as I pedaled. And finally...this pair, more expensive, but I am extremely happy, true to size, width perfect, great arch and easy to put on and loosen when needed, i.e. when riding. I'm not unhappy with the color either, cute. Love them and although they were a little pricey, worth it. Thank Zappos, always great doing business with you!

I love these shoes! They are the most comfortable and light weight shoes that I have had. I have no complaints, just be sure to order one full size larger than you normally wear.

I wear a size 9.5 and purchased the 43. My toe on my left foot slightly touches the end of the shoe, not very comfortable to walk in but for indoor cycling it is okay. Wish they had a size 44, I would have purchased a small men's shoe but I have a narrow width and these are perfect in the width.

These shorts saved my tush! I enrolled in a spinning class and left the first session in extreme discomfort (wearing a pair of yoga pants). The instructor recommended I purchase padded cycling shorts, and it's made a world of difference. The padding on these shorts is thick but doesn't feel heavy, and it really comforts and protects your sit bones. There's also an elastic band around the legs (inside the shorts) that keeps them in place without tugging at your skin. If you ride a bicycle (of any kind), do your tush a favor and pick up a pair of these. You'll be so happy you did.

Very comfortable shoe. It works like a biking shoe in that it's stiff, but it's not bad for walking around as well. It has good grip for when you have to hike your bike up the steep parts.

I have these shoes for about 1 year now, and use them only for indoor cycling classes (2-3/week). The clips are great and they never unlocked from the bike (as I've seen happening to other people with other shoes during classes, specially on sprints). They made my feet go numb during the first couple of times of use, but maybe it was my fault. After that, they've been great: comfortable and sturdy. These are one of the cutest cycling shoes I've ever seen, and without the annoying and funky walk you get when using the regular road biking shoes. They DO run about TWO full sizes smaller. I'm a size 7.5, 8 for running shoes and mine are size 40 (which, according to their chart would be actually a size 10).

I trail run appx 35 miles per week. I am a moderate underpronator, and these shoes do a fantastic job of stabilizing that. My plantar fac-itty-isis has cleared up completely and my feet feel great even after long runs. By far the best trail running shoes Ive ever had. Almost ready for my 3rd pair.

These are beautiful but run super small! I am 5'4" and 110 lbs -- normally wear a small to medium in Pearl Izumi -- and the large are tight, so tight that the compression bothered my legs the entire time I had them on. At the same time, the pad is comfortable but Wide -- probably as wide as you would find in a "normal" size large -- as a result, I had rub marks on my legs after only an hour. On a side note, I also got a pair of Symphony shorts to wear in spin class -- as with one of the other reviews here, the quality is terrible -- fabric shredded on one of the legs after two classes. What's up with this, Pearl?

The pair hurts after a short period of time, so there is no support at all. Shoes got stinky fast made from cheap fabric/rubber that no matter what you do the smell won't go away. Considering the price I paid...

This is a brand I had never tried before but came up when I looked for shoes for people that have pronation. The risk free trial Zappos offers made it easy to try these out. I walk 3-5 times a week usually 5 miles each time. I have had no problem wearing this shoe with blisters. It would be nice if it had a bit more cushion in the ball of the foot. But other than that it is a great shoe. I have worn Asics, New Balance in the past as a walking shoe and this one beats them hands down for me.

Great shoes! I need extra support for flat feet/pronating and I get it from these shoes. I wear a women's size 10 in Asics walking shoes and I got size 42. They fit great. I don't use the clips so I can't comment on that. Also I love the pocket in the tongue to tuck your laces when riding. They don't look as goofy as most cycling shoes - also a plus.

As others have mentioned, these offer a good balance between performance and support. No break in required. Light and comfortable. I have fairly narrow feet and these feel perfect, so people with wide feet might want to consider a 1/2 up.

Initially I really enjoyed the e-motion N2 series of trail shoes. I went through 5 pairs of the light green units probably made in 2013. I feel like I have not been able to adapt to the orange and aqua colored units now. For me and the aqua colored units, it feels like the micro arch support has slightly shifted forward - and it's actually uncomfortable on my arch. Toe box flex, wide toe box, awesome smooth rockered design and no heel irritation are all pluses. The arch feels goofed however. Could be mental on my part. I feel myself using the Hoka Hauka more and more now. Myself: 155lbs, run hilly trails with steep climbs 5 days a week, 1 - 1.5 hours per run, neutral landing, prefer cushioned trail shoes. Longest day in N2 shoe = 14 hours.

My shoe size is 10, knew I should get 10 1/2, but gambled on 10s and their great with light socks! (If you wear 10, play it safe with 10 1/2). I Ride a 2014 Cannondale 29 Tail SS, w/ Crank bros Candy pedals in Florida 90+ degree heat on mountain bike courses with fast friends. These shoes are perfect, wide mesh, COOL, lighter than skate-type. ?? Perfect, just what I was after!

These are nice looking shoes, but although I thought they were wide enough in the toe box they proved not to be. In fact they gave me pinch calluses on one foot. I like the minimalist style and feel, but I will have to pass them on to my sister who does not have bunions and try another brand.
