For years I've used the 2016 Fission SV as my goto cold weather shell but it lacked a few things so when I finally could check out the Beta IS, I went for it. I did size up for layering to XL, I wear every other ARC jacket in Large but this felt too trim for a lot of layers in that size. This feels like the Fission SL that was my first piece from the brand. I also tried on the RUSH IS at the same time and felt like it would be too warm for my uses and closer to the Nuclei SV which I already have. The combo is perfect on this one, while sizing could be better to make it a perfect ski shell. Gore-tex, pit zips, pocket configuration are all winners. I would suggest this to ice climbers, snow shoers and just about anyone that recreates in colder snowy environments.

Received this after thorough research. It's phenomenal, light supple and stops wind dead. Have yet to use it in harsher conditions than 32 degree rain/ hail with only a T-shirt on underneath. It's a marvel in material technology and overall comfort. Bravo to the Insulated Beta, bravo!

I'm 6'1" at 171 lbs. The Medium was a perfect fit on my frame. This jacket packs a lot of warmth in a fairly thin package. I live in the Boston Metro area and I have worn this jacket all winter. It's a great jacket. Blocks the wind and it keeps me dry. I have also had the Beta shell for years and also love it...so I figured I might give the insulated jacket a try this year. Big fan of it without having to rotate layers under it like my shell. Happy with the purchase. My wife constantly steals it to walk the dog as well. Even though it is too big for her, she always raves about how awesome it is compared to her jackets with how warm it is without all the bulk.

I am satisfied with this jacket. I have been using it from -15 C with just a t-shirt underneath, up to +10 C. It keeps me dry and warm in both snow and rain. The fit is comfortable and on the larger end, I use 2XL. External pocket setup is good, together with the internal dump pocket. It has been used for resort skiing and everyday use. Would recommend this jacket. This was a replacement for my 2008 Fission SV.
