Old Gringo Reviews
Beautiful boot. I have a wide foot just order 1/2 size larger. I have received numerous compliments. I can't wait to order another pair.
Absolutely beautiful! I just bought these boots, and couldn't believe that they looked prettier than what the pictures show. I'm a size 10, and they are just a little tight, so I'll have to wear super thin socks or nylons the first few times I wear them. The leather is sturdy yet soft, so I expect that they will stretch to fit my foot within a few wearings. They have a slick bottom, so they'd be perfect for dancing. IN LOVE!
Zappos did a great job trying to make this gorgeous boot mine and quickly overnighted the size 10 to compare with the 11. Unfortunately my never-never-land size 10.5 feet did not cooperate. Old Gringo does not make many boots in this hard-to-find size (nor do other manufacturers - they quit provinding half sizes at 9.5 for what ever reason) so I am stuck with the bad options of an 11 that is far too large and sloppy - even with a gel insert and heavy socks - or a modern form of foot torture in a size 10. Please Zappos, if you have any leverage, let Old Gringo and other great companies know that there are women out in the real world who really do need a size 10.5 as an option to size up for width after foot surgery - and we love style every bit as much as folks with smaller feet. I am very tired of plain black boring shoes. Thanks.
The Little Leopard is in a subtle dusty distressed leopard pattern suede that is very attractive. The low heel version of this Old Gringo boot has a slightly wider snip toe than the higher heel version and the snip toe is not as long and pronounced, which I really liked. Sadly, the size 10 is true to size - too short for my size 10.5 foot.
Zappos sent an exchange size for me to compare - my feet being in the never-never land of a 10.5. Sadly the 10 was too short and the 11 too loose. These were so worth the try! Many kudos to the great chat support and super fast shipping at Zappos.
The photo does not capture the colors well at all. The background is a deep chocolate brown with a whitewash paint brushed and dripped over it. This is distressed and crackled in places. Then a faint sheen of silver pops here and there - contrasts with the braided trim. The toe is slightly rounded and the fit is very close. The largest available size is a 10, so sizing up to accommodate wide foot is not feasible. Sadly, I will have to return these. I wish manufacturers would make 10½ and 11 in more with-it styles like this.
I ordered these boots in both the grey and brown. The stitching is gorgeous although I would say the colors on both boots are duller than they appear in the picture. Also, the zippers are almost industrial looking, not necessarily bad, but I think it makes it less likely that the boot could be worn in a dressy situation. But I had to send them back because as others said, the zippers bend inward and rubbed my lateral ankle constantly, ouch! It was worse with the right foot and worse in the black, if the boot wasn't so pricey I might have been able to live with it with thick socks in the brown boot. But for this price, no way. Plus the zippers didn't zip smoothly, but perhaps this would have improved with time. Still love the look of OGs, wish they would have made this style without the zippers.
Fabulous suede boot - not heavy leather. The distressed Ocre Viejo shade is warm and looks amazing with so many things. The snip toe fit is wider than the Lucchese and easily accommodates my wide foot, but the instep is also larger, so I will try a gel insert and a size down to see which works best. I used Zappos chat - in a couple on minutes arranged to overnight ship the next size down to compare and exchange - super service!
Soft flexible leather and beautiful teal and aqua flourishes. The snip toe fits wider than a Lucchese and easily accommodates my wider foot, but so does the instep, so the fit is too loose. The leather will stretch with wear, so this will not work. Recommend selecting down a half size or full size depending on your instep and if you plan to wear socks.
Incredible boots! Beautiful! I wear a size 7 normally but had to get a 6 1/2 in this boot. They are worth the price tag.
I love love Old Gringo boots. They are the most stylish, fashionable boot you can buy. If you want to make a statement when you step out, this is the boot. Speaking of comfort they are also the most comfortable because they are made with premium leather. I like the zippers to get on and off easily but I experienced the zipper thing at the ankle that others warned about. I have the grey and the brown in this boot. One pair is worse than the other. I am getting them stretched to see if it helps because I love them. If that doesn't resolve the issue, I will have to return them because I line dance and they have to be comfortable. Zappos is the best company to deal with for any shoe or boot. They make shopping fun and hassle free. I now own 12 pairs of Old Gringo Boots! I will not buy any other boot! Dance Enthusiast!
These boots are AMAZING! If you have any doubt about spending the money, all I have to say is "Go For It!" It's wearing a work of art on your feet & although these pics are good, they don't do it quite justice. I normally wear an 8.5 in shoes, 8 in Ariats, & I went up a full size to 9.5 & they are perfect. With snip toe boots, you don't want your toes going to the end. I do have wide-ish, flat feet & a really bad bunion on one large toe, so there was plenty of romminess. I will admit, they are not padded with inserts, which my poor feet need, so I bought a pair of Ariat ATS footbed inserts which make it a lot better & not as roomy on the width.
I love OG. Have one other pair that I love love..'Bonnie' which I still get compliments on and are often asked where I got them. The Hanna Gayla's are growing on me, the more I wear them the more I like them. Usually Zappo's is great with shipping so I hoped as a VIP member when I ordered them late tuesday I'd have them end of day wednesday. They didn't even ship until thursday morning though and I got them end of day thursday.
Lovely boot. The chocolate color was richer than pictured but the stitching was more muted. The zippers were a hassle. I struggled to zip them up, not because my calf is too big but because the zippers were clunky and awkward. The toe box felt a tad narrow and pinchy. Needless to say, I am returning them but that is because for this amount of money, I want to have boots with less hassle and more comfort.
These boots are perfect, and they look exactly like they do in the picture. I love the fun turquoise color! They are super soft and comfortable already. I am usually between a 6.5 and a 7 and the 6.5 worked great, but I probably could've been fine with the 7 and worn thicker socks. I really like how the shaft height isn't too tall, they work better for short people like me.
I purchased the black pair about two weeks ago. Right out of the box they fit perfect, like I had been wearing them for weeks. This is my third pair of Old Gringo boots and each pair is perfect. They fit well and feel broken in right out of the box. They may cost a bit more, but it is worth it for the quality workmanship and attention to detail. And as always, excellent service from Zappos with amazing speedy delivery.
Wow! I agree with customer Susan W.'s review - they are hard to get on - but when you do they are great. I wear size 9.5 in shoes and the 9.5 in OG fit great, don't know why they were hard to get on, none of my other OG's are, must be the harness around the ankle. Anyway, I bought the yellow and they are beautiful! This is my 5th pair of Old Gringo's. I absolutely love the fit, style, and comfort of the Old Gringo boots, and they are works of art. I will probably, definitely, buy more. I've kind of started a collection - maybe I should start collecting something cheaper...nah, if you wear them as much as I do they are worth it.
