OGIO Reviews
After ~6 months of light use (only on business trips, maybe 8 days / month), this started coming apart at the zipper seams. Thanks to Zappos 1yr return policy it will be back in the mail today...
I gave this to my husband for Christmas. He loves it, holds a lot of things but is still nice and compact.
First of all, this bag is not suitable for gym use - it's simply too large and cumbersome. Second, the material is pretty cheap and one of the side pockets has torn nearly completely off after using it for 2 trips (as a carry-on bag, so minimum abuse). I'd say steer clear of this product.
The first one ordered had the fabric separate from the front zipper on the first use. I'm sure it was an undetected defect, and Zappos was wonderful to work with and was happy to refund our money. We did order another one, and it's a great backpack. It has lots of compartments and is great for school.
Great backpack. I wish it had a rubberized bottom though since I often put it down on less than clean surfaces (subways, buses).
So far, so good. Fits my Dell XPS M1530 fine. Wish there was waterproofing on the bottom. The zippers feel a little sticky...hopefully it will break in though.
Super deal for the price. This was just what I was looking for. Perfect padded area for my 15" laptop (with an additional sleeve on) book/binder/files compartment, accessories area, handle on the top, ergonomic shoulder straps that are nicely padded and a water holder on the side. Also a well placed MP3 player compartment. Professional looking as well.
Nice looking bag, but after owning it for a few months, some of the internal pockets are starting to come loose because of cheap stitching. I don't expect it to last very long. It costs too much for substandard workmanship.
The Ogio Newt is comfortable and accommodating with its many well-placed pockets. Almost the entire bag is double-walled with foam which gives it rigidity. The foam-walled construction also keeps my laptop well protected from the floor when I rest it down. It's actually one of the few bags I've come across that don't just suspend the laptop, but pads the bottom sufficiently to actually protect the computer when the bag is placed on the floor. Also, I appreciate that the entire bottom of the bag is padded, so when I put another fragile piece of equipment in the main compartment, it doesn't make a thud when the bag hits the floor. The drawbacks, as other reviews have said, are that the zippers aren't high-quality. Also the back padding and sternum strap do seem less durable than what I've seen on the competition. It's a keeper for me because I carry a couple of fragile thing daily, and I like the overall protection of the bag.
I am a college student and this backpack is everything I need and more. I am so happy with this backpack I am getting another for my boyfriend. And I'm even getting one for my daughter. It comes in so handy and its so comfortable. It fits the tall monster cans in it and the laptop and so much more. I highly recommend it. It's great for school, leisure, camping, anything! I know I love it and I know you will too!
Great design, nice rigidity to the bag to keep shape, and ample compartments. It is also very comfortable on my back. That said, I wished they would have used better quality zippers and other materials. Seems Ogio cut many corners with quality. I hope this bag withstands the years as my last bag did. Also, a waist strap would have made a great addition. (In my last review I forgot to adjust the star rating to sync with my evaluation.)
The Ogio Newt is a well-conceived backpack. I tried it out over the course of a day with all my carriage, and it was comfortable, and held a lot of stuff. On the other hand, the materials seem to be cheap in comparison to the competition. This is the second Newt I received from Zappos, the first had a misshapen and loose sternum strap. This caused me to examine the bag closer, and as I had another bag to compare it to from a competitor, I was able to see the difference. The zippers on the Ogio also seem to be of a lighter quality than the other bag I looked at, and upon looking online at Ogio backpacks, I found so many reviews complaining about failed zippers. I'm worried about spending money on a bag that is destined to fail in a few months. My old bag I'm replacing has been going strong for 11 years with no zipper issues. The stitching on the bag is also not done with the gauge of thread, and the faux fur is not as good quality as the other backpacks I've looked at. Lastly, the many nicely placed pockets are missing large and accommodating organizers inside them. So despite the excellent comfort and well designed large compartments, I'll likely return this bag.
The Newt is a great backpack. It has a lot more storage than you might think from the picture. Having said that, if you're thinking about this for college and you're the type of person that packs for your whole day, you might need to look elsewhere. You won't be able to fit more than 2 classes worth of stuff in here (unless you're just carrying notebooks and small/medium sized textbooks). I was looking for a backpack that wasn't too big, but wasn't too small either. I didn't want to carry everything I own with me, but wanted to be able to carry a decent amount if I wanted. Most importantly, it had to be able to carry my 17" Macbook Pro safely. The Newt is my perfect bag. The laptop pocket can fit the 17" MBP perfectly, and it's super soft. The laptop area is divided so you slide your laptop into one side that's soft and on the other side you can put papers/folders. I regularly carry the 17" MBP, iPod, medium/large sized lunch, an umbrella, a legal pad, smaller notebook and a book or two (small/medium sized books). It has 3 soft pockets, for your laptop, one where you can put smaller gadgets like iPod, pocket camera, or any small electronics and another one just behind/under the top handle that can fit a small item (like sunglasses). One last note, in case you can't see, there is a pocket on the side so you can hold a bottle of water, small umbrella, or something like that.
What a great bag! That is the first thought I had when I purchased the twigs n berries design for her. The next time I thought that was when I picked out the exact same style for me. I ordered off of two different sites and didn't realize they were the same. This bag has tons of room. It of course holds my 15.6 lappie and power cables and mouse and a ridiculous amount of stuff, but there is even more room in the organizer pocket and the expendables. This bag is a no brainer. You need strong and safe bag to hold your life, this is the one you should buy.
The most noticeable thing about this pack is it\'s looks; Ogio has a ton of great colorways and styles and they all look great. This bag has served me well carrying books and clothes for school and travel. This backpack is well-equipped with many useful pockets while still being light, durable, and stylish as well as comfortable.
I love this backpack! It is very cute and I have received several compliments on it! It also has A lot of space! The laptop sleeve is also padded so you know your laptop is protected. I'm a full time graduate student and I always have plenty of room for all my textbooks, notebooks, laptop, pencil bag, and a water bottle/lunch. By far the best backpack I have purchased. Of course, Zappos shipping was extremely quick.
This is a great bag! Not only are the colors dark enough to fend off the "dirty look" but it has a lot of pockets and hidey holes. It has padded shoulder straps and a convenient handle attached. I like that there is a separate zippered compartment for my laptop and mesh pockets on the side for keys, and other small items. I recommend this bag for high schoolers or people in college.
Travel bag - This is a really nice bag. It is the perfect size for each of my children to pack and be responsible for their own things for a 5 day trip. It seems to be very durable but then we haven't had them long.
Great but utterly enormous! This gym bag has plenty of pockets and room for everything I need, but I'm giving it to my husband and buying something smaller. It's just too big and too heavy for my needs.
