Careful...make sure you put this on the right material or else it will leave splotches that you will not be able to get rid of. Put this on nubuck and ruined my shoes.
These products are great. I've been using NikWax for years and it always helps waterproof and extend the life of my leather shoes. Beware of two things - it is only good for smooth leather, and it will darken your shoes. If you are okay with that, then this is the best thing on the market.

Washed my down sweater and down coat in the down wash and, after that wash, used the down proof. Both items came out very clean. The down sweater was really dirty as it had been worn every day on a 2-week backpacking trip.

I used the suede spray on light grey shoes and it made them darker. Not a huge problem, but beware that it will change the color of your shoes, at least if they are light.
This is just Armorall in a different bottle and price. The product will streak and and spot if you don't rub it into the surface. Leaves a filmy residue on just about anything you spray it on. Ruins the shine on leather. Not what I had expected.

This spray was awesome for waterproofing the nubuck part of some boots. It darkened them a little and you have to be careful to treat each shoe the same, with the same amount of pre-watering and spray, so they'll look alike, but when I'm out in the rain, the nubuck doesn't ever even look like it got wet! I live in Seattle so the rain's not been super-heavy, but I'm very happy with the results!
The wash in TX.Direct is great! I have used the spray on water proof, and it seem to always miss a spot somewhere. The wash in solves that issue. And as always - free shipping. Thank you, Zappos!
Great wash for waterproof wear! Been using this stuff for 4 years on my snowboarding clothes. Gets the job done!
Nikwax Down Wash works well on my down jacket and small down comforter. There are no harsh detergents to destroy the natural down. Nikwax Tech Wash is good for my waterproof garments and horse blankets because it doesn't destroy the waterproofing.
I have pretty much lived out of my down sleeping bag for the last seven years and have had to wash it without a good down wash in the past which was the best I could under the circumstances. I was glad to see that it was offered on Zappos. The Nixwax down wash and down proof is pretty straight forward on its use. The bag smelled great when it was done and didn't have that damp down smell even...just smelled clean. The down proof gave a nice luster to the bag and it looked good as new considering the use it has seen. Very happy overall. The down proof is bottle is only enough for one wash of a 2-3 season bag if I remember correctly. I had enough of the down wash for two washings. So, this combo is more for a one time wash on a 2-3 season bag.
The best - This is by far the best product I have used. I use it on my scarpa sl m3 and it makes them look better than they did they day I bought them. Extremely waterproofing.

Rather have a spray - This item really does not clean. It just makes the suede darker. Plus, it’s too hard to apply the water repellent with the sponge evenly. A spray works so much better. I finally gave up and got the spray protector from the store. A huge disappointment.

Effective product - I was looking for a suede cleaning product, and since I love shopping at Zappos, I went on a live chat. The agent did not disappoint, he immediately recommended the product he thought was the best. He was right. It was easy to use and did clean off all the stains and black marks from my puma shoes. Very effective product and excellent service by Zappos.

GAVE A 2nd LIFE TO MY SHOES - After getting caught in a torrential storm and tromping through mud in my brand new $325 Mephisto "Lannys", I thought they were destined for the trash heap... Soooo, I bought this product as a last resort... My "Lannys" now look like new... I also like that it's not a spray product for a myriad of reasons (environment friendly, non-allergic, easier to use, etc., etc...)
Not ideal for nubuck sandals - Possibly these products are good if you have a lot of area to clean, but all I wanted to do was spot clean some fairly thin strapped sandals and weatherproof them. The tip is kinda bulky for spot cleaning and as far as weatherproofing, I don't understand why the instructions say to clean the leather with a damp cloth before proofing them. It made me very uncomfortable to be putting water on my shoes. Everything is okay, I guess, but I got one spot on them that wasn't there before. I don't exactly know how, but I think it was created from either the product or sometime during the damp cloth wiping that is required for use of both products.

Fine product - Works, easy to clean after and to apply, ecological, no fumes or horrible smells. A little expensive. The cleaning gel was not sealed when received.

Really great stuff; works like a charm - These two worked wonders. I wouldn't be sure how they would work alone since I used them together (washed jacket with down wash, then with down proof, then dried the jacket in the dryer). Be sure to follow instructions exactly. My jacket is fluffy, clean (mysterious dirt and stains disappeared) and now rain water will "bead" off of it. Doesn't make the item waterproof, just a good water resistance.
Be careful of the type of leather you use this on! I used this cleaner on my leather Sentra boots; it removed the antiqued finish and completely rubbed the leather polish off. I had to take these to a professional boot repair shop and thank GOD they were able to restore them. These were $400 boots that were almost ruined! Tip: stick with good old fashioned leather conditioner and forget about the cleaner on your expensive cowboy boots.

I bought this product thinking that it was a spray. It's not. It's a sponge on protectant that is actually very hard to apply and a bit messy--especially on slouch boots. But it does seem to work pretty well. I'm a little disappointed that Zappos doesn't have a bigger selection of shoe care products. I would recommend anything by Penguin shoe care products--much better.
