By shoe standards I should wear a 9.5 EE (aka Medium) but most manufacturers tend to run narrow and short in length. I prefer a slightly taller than normal toe box, and I have very low and long arches (note collapsed just long and low). I have owned a few pair of Merrel hiking boots and thought I would try these out now that I am in the gym and doing light running in the woods near my home. Shoes fits like a glove, no really like a skin fitting glove. I would recommend going with thinner running socks than the thicker "athletic" socks as I find they tend to bunch a bit. Construction is rock solid. I usually find loose threads or poorly cut fabric on most shoes for this price point. Not these. I have been wearing them for about four (4) hours and I can really feel the different terrain in the yard, stairs, wood floors versus carpets and the cement of the garage. I am confident that these will fit the bill for my needs.

These are great, light weight hikers. I wore my first pair traveling around Europe, the US, and the neighborhood. Conditions ranged from city sidewalks to moderate dirt trails. I used Superfeet insoles once I wore down the ones that came with the shoes - that is a great combination and worth the extra money if you intend to wear them a lot. I finally wore out the Vibram soles and had to look for a replacement. I looked at other brands but circled back on the Ventilator. The new pair are just as good as the first.

I own several pairs of Merrell Encore clogs in various colors and styles. As a school teacher who is on her feet all day, these are my go to shoes. The new Encore Pleat Slides are very comfortable. They are great to wear all day at school or walking around town, and they are a bit more stylish than the plain Encores. I love them, and will buy more!
