Overall:

I bought these Mephisto Helen sandals after wearing Birkenstocks for the last year. I think the Mephistos have much better support. The soles are cushiony and very comfortable. They are slightly narrow, but fit fine. There was no "break in" period; they were great from the start. Mine have a shiny patent finish which I like, and have had compliments on.

I tried this boot on 2 weeks ago and they are fabulous! They feel so comfortable and look great. I plan to buy them close to Christmas. I wish they were priced a little more affordable. I have tried many boots and paid high only to have them take space in my closet. This boot is a keeper and a lifer for that price!

With a case of chronic plantar fasciitis, I am forced to be very fussy about my shoes. These Mephisto sandals are wonderful! Great arch support and comfortable from the first step out of the box.

I ordered this shoe mostly hoping it would look a little less clunky than my Merrell clogs and yet be just as comfy. It failed on both counts. It looks passable for a clog, but I did not feel as sure-footed in the shoe. Rather than my foot being cradled in the shoe, I feel like I'm walking (& balancing) on top of it. The heel is higher than I anticipated and the shoe seems to stretch out the longer I wear it.

These shoes are beautiful and comfortable. Unfortunately, not true to size. But don't go forth boldly and think you can go a 1/2 size up on all of Mephistos. Read each review and hope someone mentions it! But a great shoe.

I got these shoes in the bronze and they are so beautiful; they look almost black with a brown tone so I can wear them with any color outfit. I got them in a 7 and they are a bit big, but I can take out the insert and put my orthotic in and they fit great. And I can walk in them all day. Mephitos never fail me. They are the best if you have foot problems.

Not at all durable! Wear out quickly, poor construction, started coming apart! Very comfortable for walking, but the tread only lasted 75 miles! Three weeks of walking! For this price, this is unacceptable. Zappos customer service was great; they accepted the return no problem. The manufacturer could care less; I contacted them and their customer service department is an oxymoron, they offered little help/support/explanation.

I bought this boot because I wanted something that would give the look of a good trouser shoe, but be somewhat more substantial for winter. I wanted something that was comfortable for traveling as well and would offer good support for long days of walking. I also wanted it to be fairly easy to slip on and off, and, of course, I wanted it to look good, too. I bought this shoe without trying it on first because I couldn't find it in any of the shops, but it had the look I wanted (the embossed "croc" pattern is very attractive) and I have another pair of Mephisto shoes and like them. This boot delivers on all my criteria. I am very happy with my purchase. I did use a shoe horn to help get it on at first, but now it has "relaxed" just enough for me to slip my foot in and out, great for the airport! I have a high arch and sometimes have trouble with fit over the top part of my foot, but this boot doesn't pinch. My first purchase from Zappos; service seems first rate.

I love these shoes and I now have them in 2 colors. They are very comfortable and great for walking. Lots of arch support. They fit my narrow foot much better than other comfort brands like Birkenstock or Simple and they are a bit more stylish.

Bottom line perfect boot, you need not read any further in my review. A little background on my shoe buying experience. I am 5,10\' average weight and I go for comfort & style, no exceptions. God had humor and he created me with a sz.10 foot, medium/wide, with a very high arch and a very high instep (if you don\'t know what it is, you are lucky), so boots are out of the question if they do not adjust on the top. I bought this shoe in sz.10 and although the shoe runs true to size (I have close to 7mm in the front, which Mephisto recommends)the back of my heel is propped to the very edge making it very annoying. I will take back sz.10 and get 1/2 sz or 1sz up. The boot looks and feels precious! It has a swede look but is apparently waterproof, looks like I can dress it up and down. You will not regret the exorbitant amount of money you will invest in this piece of art. I have half a mind to name my unborn child "Mephisto Linda" even though its a boy.

I love Mephistos and I found the best price at Zappos! Every time I order, it comes right away, and they have the best return policy. Also they are great at getting the credit back on your card timely. I hardly every shop for shoes, except with Zappos.

The Mephisto Celerina is an amazingly comfortable shoe. I have an arthritic toe and a sensitive bunion on my left foot which makes shoe shopping a bigger issue for me. The cut of a shoe has to either bypass or completely cover the bunion or the pressure on the nerves of that foot is really painful. The Celerina presented none of those problems to me. I slipped the shoes on, and, like Cinderella's, they fit perfectly. There were no seams to press on my bunion/nerve sensitive area. The toe box allowed for my toes to have enough room and not be pinched. The height of the wedge and arch were both comfortable and stylish. The cut of the shoe made my foot look very slender. The innersole is soft but firm with little air holes that allow one's feet to breathe. The comfort alone is worth the price.

Oh, so comfy with an elegant look. Mephisto makes a quality shoe that provides quality wear. The Celerina dresses up slacks and jeans and can be worn with skirts and dresses. Sizing is true.

My Mephisto Hurrikans arrived very quickly from Zappos and fit perfectly. One of my feet is a bit bigger than the other one, so one shoe is a bit loose, but nothing worth fussing about. They have been very comfortable from the start and I'm proud to wear them.

Great sandals! Comfortable and good support for my high arches. Go to the brick store and find your size and then order from Zappos. They are terrific! No hassles, best price around, free shipping, no tax, and instant delivery. I am a believer. (Mephisto shoes are actually good for your feet, even better than Clarks).

I love these shoes! I got them in the patent leather and wish I had bought two pairs. They are super comfortable with superior craftsmanship, they do not squeak,and they fit like a glove. I can already tell they will be my 'go to' everyday shoe for the fall. These are definitely recommend to anyone remotely interested.

I've worn and loved the Helen for 10 years now, so I yearned for a little variety. I ignored a reviewer who said that this shoe felt like it didn't want to stay on your foot. This is true! It feels like, when I walk, I have to curl my toes down to keep the shoes on. How tiresome! I regret not having bought another pair of Helen's that I would've worn every day for 2-3 years. Live and learn.

These are so pretty, but I found them way too narrow for me. Size 41 is what I usually wear, but my foot was spilling out all over these, and to adjust the straps to accommodate my high instep, the design was off center. Definitely not for me!

I have had my Mephistos for 9 years. I refurbish them for $80 through Mephisto direct and they are like brand new. That is right. New soles, new footbed and new stitching. $80 and you have what look like brand new shoes. I send them in all torn up and get back new sandals every time. Wow. Takes about 6 weeks and is done over the web and post. I wear them every day all day winter and summer as I work at home. They last me about 18 months and then refurbish. If you consider what that costs you will see they are cheap. I have to buy a pair of shoes to wear while these are in repair. I bought a pair of $45 woolen clogs. In the 6 weeks I wore them they have a torn footbed and toe. I hope they make it until my sandals come back.

I purchased these shoes as an investment for a much planned for trip to Italy. I was looking for a great supportive walking shoe with style beyond a sturdy athletic shoe. I was told to wear them with thin socks as they would conform to my foot as I wore them. Despite the investment, these shoes nearly ruined my vacation! They offer no arch support and the bottom of my feet ached each day after walking and touring. I finally went to a pharmacy and purchased Dr. Scholl's inserts. After putting these into the shoes, I could at least keep up. Don't waste your money!

Absolutely loved them. Bought them for our Disney trip in August and they did not disappoint. I wore them to the Magic Kingdom without breaking them in (I know, risky). Completely comfortable. No blisters, great arch support. Totally worth the price. I have narrow flat feet and these sandals are a dream.

Super comfortable. Great house or beach shoes. For a long time, I've bought these shoes every year from a (physical) store. This is the first time I've tried Zappos. Since I know what I want (I know the brand & size) it's much easier than "real life" shopping (which I don't enjoy). I'll definitely keep using Zappos, especially for brands I already know & "love".

This is the perfect shoe to have if you are walking all day. They feel like slippers and they are stylish as well. I always put them in my suitcase!! They are a great fit!
