Maui Jim Reviews
Very light weight, oversized aviators. A little tricky to adjust using the delicate nose pads. I like them a lot, they cover a lot of my face, great for driving or cycling. Like all my maui jims, they feel overly delicate so I don't use them for anything that might knock them off my face (like white water kayaking or skiing).
Great pair of sunglasses. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.The polarized lenses are wonderful. The frame fits perfectly. It is very lightweight and comfortable. It also features the ability for the frame to be bent and not break and return to its original shape.I returned my Ray Ban sunglasses for these and I am completely satisfied.
This is the second pair of Maui's I've purchased in the last year. Both were similar styles. I love them! Great fit and really light. Maui (and Zappos) have great customer service. My daughter broke my last pair I mailed them to Maui and they fixed them really fast. Love them!
The polarized plus lenses are unmatched! This is my 3rd pair of Maui Jim's and I will not wear any other sunglasses. I have sensitive eyes and wear contacts and these can't be beat! They are big, covering my eyes from the top (hard to find these days) and sides too as they wrap around. Even though they wrap on the sides, they still have that large frame vintage look I love! The cinnamon/bubblegum is awesome... seeing that pretty pink come at me every time I put them on makes me smile. :) Excellent shipping Zappos! Love!
I have been a faithful Maui Jim customer for 8 years and so far have owned 4 pairs (lost 3 of them...sniff, sniff). I wanted to replace my last lost pair and in the interim have been wearing the original ones I bought back in 2004, which are super sun blockers. The Lilikoi lenses unfortunately do not live up to the Maui Jim standard for sun protection; they are not dark and did not protect my eyes from bright sun. They would be acceptable on cloudy days as sun protection. In the bright sun of CA where I live, I found myself squinting a lot while wearing them. On the upside, the frames are fashionable and very comfortable, especially for smaller faces. Due to the weak lenses however, I am returning them. Very disappointed, especially since they are pricey. I hope this weak lens is not a trend for Maui Jim.
Maui Jim in my opinion is hands down make the best sunglass lenses. Looking at the ocean thru these frames will take your breath away. The Makahas are very light, at first when you hold them you may feel that they are very cheap. But don't be fooled, they are meant to be light and durable. Maui Jim only makes quality products, and trust me you will not be disappointed!
This is a poor design for the cost. The plastic nuts that hold the lens to the frame keep breaking and pop off causing the lens to drop from the frame. Fixed twice and still happening.
These are super, stylish sunglasses at an awesome price. I bought these for my husband. He loves Maui Jim sunglasses. The price on Zappos.com could not be beat!
I have regular Maui Jim (non-reader) Ho'okipa sunglasses, which I love, but on these the little space for the reader part was way too small and way too low on the glasses for me. I felt like I could only see things if I held them directly against my chest. I returned them.
I've had mine for several months, and I wear them every day for work. I've had absolutely no problems with them. They're lightweight so wearing them all day is no problem. I work as a contractor, and everything I wear takes abuse. I have yet to find a pair of jeans last more than 5 months. These Maui Jim's don't even have a scratch on them. I've found that as long as I don't use my shirt to clean my glasses, they don't scratch. Overall...lightweight and comfortable, check. Durable, double check. Inexpensive, well relatively, uhh, check. Buy these. They're a good value.
These glasses are very light and comfortable they also don't move on your head. The lenses are superb and you can really see all the spots in the tinted windows in cars around you with the great polarized lenses. I love these and will buy other styles as well.
These glasses are amazing! What had me consider Maui Jim sunglasses, were some friends at work telling me how much they loved their glasses and also the great hassle-free warranty. I was a little hesitant to buy them because of price. But these were the exact style and color I was looking for (if you want a larger lens, look at the Maui Jim Sandalwood glasses). I got them today and I am blown away at the quality and clarity of these glasses. In the past I've worn Ray-Ban and Oakley (a lot of Oakley) and was satisfied with my purchases. But these glasses take it to a new level of performance. Highly recommended. And Zappos has the best customer service.
I love these sunglasses. they are so light weight. perfect for driving and for cycling. they have a lot of style and they are not to big for my face. I took a chance ordering them on line, but I was so happy with them as soon as i tried them on. zappos as always was so fast shipping them.
Classy and stylish. The lenses are rose-colored and definitely make pinks and reds pop, and the double-polarization cuts down on glare and makes everything look crisp, if not a whole lot darker. The frames themselves are pretty sturdy, with the spring hinges adding a lot of durability and making these glasses good for stuffing in a pocket or pushing to the top of your head. I get nothing bit compliments.
Scratches too easily. I made the mistake of putting them in my pocket once. Maui Jim charged me to replace the scratched lenses. A few weeks later, the new lenses had small scratches just from tipping over on their face a few times. These are lightweight compared to glass, but the delicacy of the lenses is unbearable. Previously I had a pair of MJ super thin glass, the lenses popped out of the Ti frame constantly but at least they didn't scratch. Eventually MJ wouldn't repair them because they were discontinued. I've had half a dozen MJ's, all in the US300-range and the only good ones were the plastic-framed ones with glass lenses.
They were a gift for my boyfriend and he loves them. The frame and tiger stripes look great on his face. He is very athletic and wears them all day...sporting and classic. Always worth the price with Maui Jim's. And may I add that my boyfriend looks extra good in them.
The lenses are way too glossy for my taste which is almost impossible to tell from looking at the pictures. Also the frame is smaller than it looks in the pictures.
The neutral lenses of Maui Jim are not that neutral. They're quite reflective and that ruined it for me. Also the frame is a lot larger than it looks in the pictures.
These are very good sunglasses, and are effective readers as well. It does take a little getting used to since the actual reader part is fairly small - in a beach chair I really had to tilt my head up to see the top of a page. But when looking straight ahead there is no strange magnification effect and they work as well as any pair of sunglasses I have owned.
