Matisse Reviews
Here Kitty Kitty! What a riot! I love them! I got the last one in size 8 Leopard print. I wear a 7 1/2 shoe. Perfect fit for me and I have thick ankles. Comfortable, the texture and print is amazing! I contacted Matisse for care instructions quote: They are Pony Hair, Do Not put anything on them. Just wipe with dry cloth. Everyone wants to touch them. So many compliments! Thanks again Zappos!
I absolutely love these boots! I am a plane jane and reluctant to buy expensive fashionable items for fear that I cannot pull them off. But you cannot make these boots look bad! They are darker in real life, but I still love the color; which goes great with everything. They are so comfortable from the first wear and are soft like butter. They look great with skinny jeans and fit well under boot cut jeans. For the price you would be crazy not to get them. They are the best boots ever.
There is a serious design flaw with this boot. The top of the boot continually folds forward making it impossible to wear with pants, either inside or outside the boot, without having to adjust the flap back up each time you sit or under frequent walking conditions
I bought these boots elsewhere in chocolate & I love them. I was on the hunt for brown or tan riding boots. I originally bought a pair from Victoria's Secret but for the price (on sale!) I paid for them I thought the leather & overall product looked cheap & fake. The Big River has a rich, almost pebbled leather that makes them look expensive & I'm sure they'll look good years out. They're not too country/cowboy looking & have enough room in the shaft for my thick calves & skinny jeans. I am 5'4" & the boot hits right below my kneecap as well, so I think they'd be fine for anyone of average/shorter heights. Overall I think these are nice boots & worth this price (even though I did pay slightly less).
This is the perfect chunky ankle boot for those looking for a cheaper version of the popular Isabel Marant and Rag and Bone ankle boots that are popular these days. The heel is not that high but gives a bit of a lift--and the boot goes up far enough that you can tuck in skinny jeans. The suede saddle has the perfect amount of burnish and makes the boot look far more expensive than it is. It does run about a half size big but I prefer that because I can wear a thicker sock with it.
I was looking for a fun, funky, low-heeled bootie that I could actually wear all day. I've found it. They are comfortable--in fact my first day I wore them for work, then walked about 3 miles with no problems. I always receive compliments on them--people have apologized for staring at my feet. The heel is just enough, but it's a wedge so you barely feel it. I usually wear a 6.5 without socks (6 in dress shoes) and ordered a 7 so I could wear socks. They are a little narrow and long (the toe space you can't really use) and I now wear them without socks. It's fine for me this way, just be aware they're a little narrow. Also, they make your feet look bigger. If you feel like you have large feet, these will accentuate that. However, I love them. They are a comfortable, all-day statement shoe.
This is a great boot. the fit is great and the heel height is just right. i have received compliments on them every time I have worn them. A great purchase!
The circumference on an 8.5 boot was supposed to be 13". The boot I ordered was a size 6.5 and the circumference is 15"! These are not for women with narrow calves. They are going back. Otherwise it is a handsome boot.
I absolutely love these boots! First, I am a sucker for a cheetah like print. Add some texture (aka, hair) on it, and I'm in! When I first tried them on (size 7), they were tight around the toe/bridge, but fine in the heel. Zappos was already out of 7.5. I wore them around the house and they eventually felt OK. Now I can wear them with socks! They're so comfortable. I stomp around all day in them. Plus, they look super hot! I get tons of compliments.
I'm very disappointed in this boot. For this price I expected good quality leather, and this boot didn't measure up compared to others I found at a show outlet for half the price. Runs short for an 11 too. Back they go to Zappos.
These leopard booties are fabulous! As soon as I saw them, I knew that I would have to have them. I am complimented every time I wear them. I was afraid they wouldn't work for me because I usually don't wear heels or pointed toes. However, they are really quite comfortable and I can wear them for long periods of time. Having said that, I probably wouldn't put them on for a long day of shopping. I wear size 7.5 or 8 and I got these in an 8. I have medium width feet with minor bunions, and they are wide enough for me. Someone said the ankles are narrow, and I didn't find that to be the case. These look great with skinnies or straight legs, and I have also worn them with a dress. Love 'em.
I love these boots. I was looking for skim knee high boots with a moderate heel and these fit the bill. I have slim calves and they fit snugly with tights, but also over skinny jeans, with a nice amount of wrinkle. I am normally a size 7.5, but they were a bit long in the foot, so ordered a size 7, and they fit perfectly.
These are fun, stylish boots, but if your calves are not skinny, they might be too tight.
Beautiful shoe. Ordered my standard size 10 M width, but the toe box is too tight. Then tried the 11, but then there's too much space at the heel due to the steep instep. Wish it was available in a 10.5 M. Looks like there are few similar styles by Betsey Johnson and others and thanks to Zappos, I can try them.
These are stylish boots. They seem to run small. I always wear an 8 or 8½ in shoes with socks. Never in my life have I bought a size 9, until now. The size 8½ might have worked, but my toe was right at the end and felt quite tight. I should also note the shaft is quite tall. I am 5'8" tall and these boots hit right at the bottom of my kneecap. If you are any shorter than me, these might not work for you. The heel is low and comfortable. The leather is soft. I just hope they do not start to bunch at the ankle over time. Also, these are way overpriced on Zappos. I ended up buying them from a discount/warehouse website for much less.
I wanted a grey colored boot and I like this one. I usually end up spending over 500 dollars for boots just to make sure that they are the most stylish and comfortable (comfort most important). For the price, these rock both style and comfort.
Great looking boot, not for those with wide calves. While the heel provides a nice soft and stable feel, the boot does not provide much cushion to the ball of the foot. I will search out a nice cushion insert and hope that helps, however I'm almost 40 yrs. old and work on my feet a lot so maybe I'm just more sensitive than most. The toe box provides ample room so my average width foot does not feel crowded. However, I'm an 8-8.5 and as usual with the Matisse they run small. Honestly, I probably would've bought the 9 if I tried them on first. And BTW they make your feet look small so don't hesitate to size up!
These boots are beauts. Truly. They are just beautiful in person: soft, supple leather; great color; great height (to just under my knee and I'm 5'7") and slim and fitted up top (I have skinny calves, and I don't have to look like I'm wearing galoshes!!).The part that's hard to convey to other reviewers is the fit. Down near the ankles where the shoe part of the boot joins the shaft it is quite roomy. I'm either an 8 or an 8 1/2, and I always order the 8 1/2 for my bigger foot, so I just thought the 8 1/2 was too big. But strangely, the 8 fits almost the same as the 8 1/2. So I'm stuck. Do I go down to a 7 1/2?? I've never known Matisse to run a full size too big. I think I'll just wear thicker socks and add a heel grip on the bigger boot, which is the one that needs it. All this said, you might need to make a few returns to get the fit just right (or just tolerate that it feels loose/big in the ankle area, and that your foot rises up out of it like a clog fit.) But keep trying because these boots are worth it. They look fantastic with skirts and skinny jeans, but when covered up by longer pants, they just present a smart polished toe. I love them.
