I saw my mother with a similar jacket for use in light (not too cold) weather. This serves perfectly to keep me dry and looking good. Not much else to say about a simple product.

Going to Italy last week of October & 1st week of November & needed a stylish weather resistant coat of some sort. Didn't want to spend the money for it, but I'm glad I did! The length was perfect. This fit in well in Milan, Florence, Rome, Naples. I was able to layer it when needed & use its hood or zip it off. Had lots of pockets inside for tickets, passport, money etc. They were all out of a small & I hesitantly purchased the XS because I was desperate. I am 5'6", 122 lbs. & it fit nicely. Worth the investment. It is made extremely well. This will last a long time.

I have always wanted a light, waterproof jacket for the summer, but the quality names (Marmot being high on that list) were a little too expensive to justify. I got a gift card from work and figured I'd bite the bullet on the rest, but Zappos had the exact jacket I've coveted on sale! Short version of the rest of the story is that it's exactly what I expected. The second day after I received it, the weather took a typical Fall turn. In fact, I found myself in a situation where it was raining pretty hard and I needed to walk to a restaurant for lunch. My pants got wet, but my upper body was completely dry. I also tend to overheat pretty easily, so I didn't want a typical rain coat; I needed something that breathed. I could tell in this one trek that I'd never have a heat problem in this jacket. With the hood up and the cuffs tight, I could barely tell it was on, aside from the fact that I wasn't getting wet. My only issue is that one of the velcro tabs on the front flap was only partially sewn, but I should be able to stitch that myself without compromising the integrity of the jacket. All told, I can see why these are at the retail price. It's a technical garment that does exactly what it advertises. Getting it shipped to me for almost half that price was an unavoidable deal. On top of that, I had a question about how to use my gift card, so I tried the Zappos online chat option. I got top-tier service (as usual) and more. In summary, if you're researching lightweight, waterproof jackets suitable for warmer, inclement weather, the Marmot Precip will show up in most lists of top options. Having worn it for nearly a month in a number of different weather conditions, I'd put it at the top of my list.

This is a very warm and light mid layer. It will not keep wind out but keeps you warm in temperatures down to 40 degrees w/o wind. \r\n\r\nA shell is a must if this is going to be used in wind. It breathes well and keeps you dry.

I wore this jacket during a recent storm and it kept me dry! I like that the fit is not overly boxy. I usually wear a 6 or 8, so I ordered the small and it fits perfectly. The only downside (particularly for those in cooler climates) is that there is no lining - something that would greatly improve the overall quality. Not bad in California, but this is definitely a summer-only rain jacket for most.

This is a nice, mid-weight raincoat with a great cut for casual or business look and a very functional hood which stays put. I found it to run large. I ordered a medium and returned it for a small and I still have room for a thick sweater or fleece under it. The bad news: the velcro on the sleeves gets stuck on everything from sweaters to gloves to scarves, even to the other velcro on the front enclosure, which is frustrating.\r\n

Comfy and stylish. Nice fit and very flattering. Warm and windproof. One minor complaint would be tucking the fur in along placket before zippering. I only wish there were more colors!

I bought this coat to have a trench coat looking rain jacket. I have been wearing this on a daily basis since the day it arrived. Not only is it a very stylish coat, but it's waterproof as well. I am a curvy size 6 or 8, and the small fit me very well. I'm planning on taking this coat on vacation, since it's functional and dressy. Worth the price. It even has several functioning pockets on the inner liner, as well as the two outer hand pockets, all that zip shut.

I was looking for free moving long pants for alpine treking and found it in these pants. Water resistant without being hot, these pants worked great for backpacking and scrambling. I am considering using them as light ski pants as well.

I just got my Women's Destination jacket and it is great! They should add in the description that it has a double zipper, which makes getting into your pants pockets easier and keeps your personal items more secure in crowds. The jacket does run a little large, which is good for layering. It really is a great looking jacket with lots of possibilities. I intend on getting it in black as well. Little pricey, but worth it. Cannot wait to try it out & lots of Thanks to the Zappos team. Always a pleasure.

This top is amazing. I have washed it like 20 times already and it still looks new. It is nice and long for us tall girls (I'm 5'-10). It stays in place nicely through any activity, offers support, and covers my little fat rolls in front of my arm pits. I wasn't sure what size, but because Zappos offers free return shipping I ordered a medium and large, sending back the medium.

Nice Jacket - I wanted a nice winter jacket that wasn't too bulky. This one definitely works... it’s thin, but a lot warmer than I thought it would be. I wouldn't wear it in Alaska, but it's working pretty good for Massachusetts!

The only reason I might return this item is because of the velcro. I usually refuse to buy jackets with velcro because it tends to snag sweaters and fleece; however, I might make an exception for this jacket. I decided to try it after reading other reviews. I have ordered and returned several products because they turned out to be just overpriced slickers or windbreakers. This jacket is pricey but I think you perhaps get a little more for your money. It is very lightweight but has a nice lining which makes it easy to take on and off over your clothes. The outer fabric is not too sticky and swishy like some rain jackets. It actually has a nice soft feel to it. It will fold up compactly for travel and to stow in my daypack - something you cannot do when traveling with a traditional trench. I am a tall size 8-10 and ordered the medium which fits just great and still has plenty of room to add layers underneath if the weather is colder. Plenty of length in the arms and no belts to lose. Hood rolls up or zips off. You could easily tuck it in a pocket since hoods tend to get in the way when you are carrying a daypack. If I can get over the velcro hang-up I plan to use it for a late spring trip to eastern Europe.

Cozy jacket!I love Marmot and I love this jacket. I have a women's Marmot down vest size med. so I originally ordered a size large in this jacket. I did find that it ran a bit small so exchanged it for the XL so that I could wear sweaters under it. I wore it to my son's ski race this weekend and received lots of compliments. I love the hood...it's very cozy around your neck! Great jacket! And of course I LOVE Zappos. I received the first jacket within 20 hours of ordering it...how do they do that? I returned the one that was too small and received my replacement the next day. Faster and MUCH easier than going to a store or the mall! LOVE YOU ZAPPOS!

Perfect for Travel - This lightweight yet warm and waterproof jacket is ideal for travel. The best feature is the fitted styling that makes the jacket look less like outdoor wear and more like a coat you could get away with over evening wear as well when packing space is at a premium. Without the bulk of belts, detailing and extra heavy fabric, you can move more freely whether picture taking, trail walking or cab exiting. It is fitted but moves with you and gives a nice silhouette. When I purchased it, I wished it had been a bit more reasonably priced, but I have found it to be worth every penny.

Great travel layer - The coat definitely blocks the wind. In Oregon's snow storms I wore this over a sweater and a fleece jacket. This is not a long coat; for heavy snow storms and cold you need layers on your legs as well. I southern California I wear this over my clothes as a rain coat. The hood stays up without fussing. I have another hooded rain coat and the hood is a big fumble to get up and then falls down at will. This coat also packs light and small. I highly recommend.

Marmot Furlong Vest - Great looking vest, very comfortable, good for chilly weather. Hood and faux fur really make the vest! Runs small, so if you are looking for more room, be aware that you should order a size up.

Wonderful choice!I purchased the jacket before a trip to Italy for a family reunion. When I arrived there, two other members of the family were wearing their Marmot Precips and raving about them. It didn't take me long to see why... torrential downpours in Turin - and we were all completely dry! It's the best purchase I've made in a long time - and I'm glad I bought it from Zappos. I received it less than 24 hours after I placed the order. Thanks Zappos!

This is really a nice featherweight jacket. It's versatile. I wear it to work, to the store and even jog in it! It's great for Oregon outdoorsy activities where rain can turn to sun in no time. Then I can just fold it up and stash it in my bag. It's a great jacket! Just what I've been looking for for a long time. It was a little pricey but it's the nicest jacket of this type I've come across and I'm happy with it despite the price tag.

Decent lightweight fleece - Great bonfire color; decent for fall mornings. Not wind or water resistant. Marmot changed their "zip-in" style of zippers a few years ago, so if you have an older Marmot shell, you may have some problems using newer zip-in linings. I was able to retrofit the zipper on this fleece pretty easily to zip-in with a Marmot ski shell I purchased around 1999-2000 (but don't expect that you can necessarily do the same). The sleeve loops are still in the proper place for attachment with the older shells. I use this fleece by itself for dry days when it's down to about 45-50. Any lower than that and my Marmot Sharp Point soft shell comes out.

About Marmot

THE MEANING OF LIFE
Marmot clothing and equipment began in April 1971, when two University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in the Juneau Icefields of Alaska on a school project in Glaciology. While atop those glaciers, it was there amongst the students that the concept of a Marmot club was born. In order to become a Marmot, they had to climb a glacieted peak with another Marmot. In addition, everyone was president.

During that summer and up until 1973, Eric and Dave began making prototypes of down clothing in their dorm room. In addition to Eric and Dave, their friend Tom Boyce joined their ranks and opened a rental/retail shop under the name Marmot Mountain Works. Here is where the Marmot company was brought to life in the summer of 1974.

Marmot incorporates quality Gore-Tex® in their products, maintaining the highest quality performance product. As a company, they actually remain to be the oldest customers of Gore-Tex® in the world outdoor market. Marmot endeavors to provide outdoor gear that is authentic, innovative and best in class. In every area of business practice that they engage in, they passionately seek the highest level of quality, performance, service and value.
