I had mistakenly purchased this boot in a wide back in October after reading some reviews about width problems. I also got the same size as my running shoe, a sometimes 1/2 size larger than my usual shoe size depending on the shoe. Thanks Zappos for putting up with numerous returns of many different boots after that. I had wondered if Zappos was taking bets on whether I would ever keep a pair! And my UPS guy was shaking his head with all of the back & forth! I eventually wound up with this boot again in black, in the same size but in a regular width. Thank goodness I did. I have worn it all winter long with a gel insert for additional arch support and slightly better comfort as I am a real city walker. This is a fantastic boot! I wore it almost every day this past winter, dressed down and up. Although initially I really hated to spend this kind of money on a boot, I'm extremely glad that I did. This boot got me through some rough winter weather: navigating through salt, snow mounds, icy sidewalks, driving rain, deep puddles, you name it. The tread is fantastic - it really is skid proof. Best part, after the no-falling down part, is the way they feel. And they are really warm and waterproof. I just wish that the style had a little more pizazz, but I cannot complain at all about the overall total comfort. I cleaned them after they got muddy and polished them to try to erase a sadly earned gougy kind of scuff mark across the toe. It pretty much disappeared (you would have to look really hard to see it!) and I have to say that the boots look like new again. Even better because they are not stiff looking. I will eventually have to get the heels replaced, a minor thing considering how many miles I put on them, and I just saw another review that mentioned getting the boots waterproofed after a winter season (hmm, no one mentioned that before!). Glad to see that I am not the only one who meticulously reads all of the reviews before investing in a pair of boots with this kind of price tag! Bottom line, I would highly recommend this boot. It is as versatile as everyone says and it is a classic looking boot that is not going to go out of style tomorrow. With regard to the price, I doubt that I will be purchasing another pair of winter boots for a long while, so the purchase will likely turn out to be a very cost effective one. Also, I did not mind the slight bagginess to the calf area as I generally wore them with pants. When I did wear them with black tights and a shortish skirt, I thought that they looked pretty great too. I see that the brown is on sale now and am actually considering a second pair in brown.

I've had these boots in size 7 for about six months and although I loved them at first, they have not worn well. In particular, the zipper bends inward at the inside ankle in a way that has become quite painful. Also, the leather has begun to show undue wear. I wear these boots infrequently, and expected better quality for the price.

I love these boots. I bought them over a year ago, I wear them regularly, and they are still in great shape. I have large feet with long middle toes, so buying attractive shoes that fit well can be challenging. My feet are probably a little bigger than the perfect 11, so I try to find slightly large 11s, and these seem just right. They are very comfortable, and I love their look. For an added bonus the lining inside the leg is very comfy.

I own three pairs of Passions: black, brown, and black suede. I have wide feet and bunions, but I hate frumpy shoes, so it took me a while to find these classic, stylish boots which I wear in an 8 wide. They are incredibly comfortable and waterproof, and they have great traction on ice and snow. Plus, the black suede boots are very Kate and Pippa. :)

Passion is a beautiful, elegant boot that can be worn with anything and to anywhere. The design is deceptively simple because once you try them on, they really look wonderful. I purchased the black suede and am very happy with them. Good heel height that will work for both regular or snowy, icy walks. This is close to a rider's boot although the heel is a bit higher than most. This is definitely waterproof because I just wore them during some very rainy days and had to walk through lots of standing water. I can't say enough positives about La Canadienne, and thank goodness Zappos carries them.

These are stunningly nice classic black boots that I expect to last a long time (timeless style). The have no real embellishments except being a beautiful leather boot. The arch support is OK. I do need a lot in this department. I stuck arch supports in there (I recommend the Pedaq ones from Germany - note that they are quite firm and true arch support) and it works great. A note on fit - my calves are somewhat bigger than the boot - the first few times I could only zip up toe the horizontal seam. The little stretch built in up top, does slowly stretch and after about 4 days wearing them (off and on), I can now zip them up. Remember that good leather stretches and then returns to its shape, so I do not believe it is the leather. I believe it is the stretchy little part that is relaxing, which is a good thing as it adapted to my calves. IF you have athletic calves though they may be too tight. Zappos has a similar style that is more of an ankle boot that looks exactly like this one (except of course the length) and those might be an option for you (and on sale too). I walk to work and do a lot of walking at work too, and these work great - decent traction, comfy in warmth (not too hot like some hiking boots can get), and they look great with pants and skirts. It is a lot of money to spend (I was a bit scared at first)- and I do not regret in one bit. These will be going with me to Seattle where I can walk everywhere in them and wear them professionally without having to pack additional work shoes. I will post an update in several months - I fully expect these quality boots to be with me a long time.
