Keen Kids

These shoes are amazing. Have had Keens for my 5 year old ever since I discovered them at 1. We do the summer and the closed ones for school. It's the only every day shoe you need. The design is cute and easy for kids to put on independently. I always size up 1 and kids grow into them easily. The adjustability helps. This shoe lasts! These have also made great hand me downs for cousins. All around, the best money I spend each time!

I was looking for a sandal that would support my very active 5-year-old and this is working well for her. Ventilated like a sandal but it still protects her toes and is as comfortable as a sneaker. The color is pretty enough to wear with sundresses. This was my first Keen purchase and I will probably return for more.

Had the same problem as Anonymous in Ohio. My son has a narrow foot so that was okay, but he developed an open sore right below his outer ankle bone after wearing these. I couldn't believe that an all plastic shoe could do that so I gave them a rest, let the sore heal up and let him wear his other H2 Keens he normally wears. Went to try these again and sure enough the sore he had opened back up! Plus the red marks on the tops of his feet were also a pain. Returning these and sticking with the H2s for summer. Crocs don't work so well for him - they make his feet way too sweaty and are too easy for him to take them off.

Excellent shoe overall! I have a hard time fitting my daughters narrow foot and they were perfect!

My daughter has had Keen Kids sandals for 3 years running now and I will probably buy them in women's next year. They're great compared to other sandals for either gender, but especially for girls whose typical choices are so unsound for feet and safety. A lot of the more athletic sandals are full of pink and purple and often just unsupportive cheap foam with a minimum tread. These are stylish & come in awesome colors for both genders. We got these in blue and neon green this year but have relied on the brown for neutrality all previous years. Great for hiding stains from camping when bought in dark. We go to and live near the beach and so these easily go under the hose and rinse off beautifully, dry quickly with a few pats of a dry towel, and are easy to clean when nearly every other sandal out there is unsalvageable, filthy, and turning smelly halfway through the summer. We've put them in the washing machine on gentle. Just an awesome shoe.,,or just sprayed down with cleanser in the mudroom sink and left to dry. Funky ocean smells and sweat have no longer been an issue. Great support, much more tread and safety for climbing around sharp rocks, slippery moss, tidepools, comfortable for long days on foot, and good water shoes in comparison to most sandals. These are everything you need and easily handed down a few times. We buy brown or whatever now and have always handed them over to a friend's family of all boys...who love them to death after 3 more children. These look sharp while shopping, not just in an outdoorsy setting. I recommend the canvas for the most comfort and breathability and can't vouch for the ones with the plastic cord -- not as good. My daughter calls these shoes her "rock proof" shoes. Not as many stray rocks flipping into and under the foot bed while on the playground or while hiking. Less prickers, less bark mulch splinters. Yet, her feet don't get too hot. Did I say enough? Yes, these are worth every penny.

I really wanted to love these shoes but they were very hard them on my toddler to the point where it hurt his foot to get it in, but once on they look good and rugged and my son didn't complain to wear them. My son was almost a size 8 so that is what I ordered and his feet aren't too chubby. The draw string is useless to make the shoe easier to get on. In the picture there looks like there is quite a bit of slack but really it doesn't do much good. Because the shoe was such a pain to get on (for both of us) he didn't get much use out of them. I also think it is kind of hard to tell when they have out grown the shoe since you can't really feel where the toes are because the front is so stiff and rubbery. My older son who is a size 2 with narrow feet has had no complaint with this same shoe and doesn't mind wearing them, but even with his skinny narrow feet he has to put a little extra effort to put them on.

I have bought this shoe every summer for 4 summers for my 5.5 year old. This review is only for the Hook Loop model. This sandal is great. The dark color works well with church wear. It has a covered toe, so it can be used for sports. It doubles as a water shoe and we are able to do all outdoor activities with it. When they get dirty, just throw them in the washer. My 2 year old is now wearing the 5 year's cast offs and I am sure they will last for generations. I just wish Keen made this model in more colors and fun designs. We chose this model because it did not have a completely closed back like the Newport model (which makes it not as good for water play) and had a velcro strap, which is easier for the kids. Well worth the price.

Although I love the look of these shoes and their purpose in outdoor versatility, I would personally steer clear of this one particular style with the cross over strap. The strap does not seem to be designed with enough length to truly accommodate a child's foot inside in reaching the Velcro band, has to be pulled tightly to do so which is discomfort for the child, and honestly an un-necessary measure in design. I do wish these were made simpler as my adult style; just slip-on-and-go without the extra band. The positives though are the vibrant attractive colors my son enjoys wearing, and the ease we find without worrying if he steps into water sources when enjoying our active days outdoors.

My children get 2 pairs of Keens every summer. These are the only shoes they will wear! Not only are they comfortable and cover their toes they can get wet and muddy and are easy to clean. I just throw them in the washing machine and they are like new. We love Keens!

These are a great, sturdy water shoe and sandal all in one for the summer. I purchased these so as not to need to buy both sandals and watershoes. They have already been put in the washer and came out just fine.

If you're looking to buy shoes that will last, even to the point of being handed down to others, these are for you. I have two boys and don't think twice about buying Keen's because I know my youngest will wear them. They offer excellent slip protection, seem to be very comfortable, and overall a huge hit. I will buy a new pair every spring.

Awesome! I buy a new pair each year for the older kids. Every pair gets at least 2 summers of wear - every day, all day!

So cute but...we are returning them because the sole is not flexible at all making them hard for my daughter to walk in.

So cute and so comfy! This is the 7th summer of Newports for my kids and they love them! They are so sturdy we pass them on to cousins after the summer and they still look brand new.

Love these shoes and was really hoping they would work for my son. They meet our requirements for comfort, durability, and aesthetic appeal, but they are just a little two wide for our son's narrow foot. Sadly will have to return.

Great sport sandal! Purchased for a granddaughter especially for her 2-week summer camp. She has a narrow foot and this Keen is perfect (I have the same style myself...and a similarly narrow foot). So comfy right out of the box..no break in time. Love the airy style, but with a closed protective toe. It's washable also!

Great sandals for active girls who like to play in the mud, dirt, sand and water. I bought these for my very active 2 1/2 year old and these have been perfect sandals for her. Unlike most sandals for girls her age these don't slow her down at all-she can run and climb with these as well as with her athletic shoes. These also clean up easily and still look new after going through the wash several times. My daughter loves the pink color and the fact that she is able to get these on and off by herself.

These are awesome shoes. Kids love them straight out of the box, no break in period and easy to put on. Plan on using these when we go to Florida this summer and walking all over the theme parks.

Keen sandals are all we buy for the summer and we put them through a lot! They never fail and each pair goes through all the kiddos (4). My boys shoes tend to really smell after a while and these never have; just throw them in the wash occasionally.
