Overall:

Great boot for dress or casual. Fits much closer to accurate than other Varvatos boots, which I found to fit very wide.

Overall:

Good looking shoes but not that well built. One would expect durability after spending this much on this pair of boots. The boots look really great and very comfortable to wear for long hours. However, the soles are not well built. It starts falling off after around 2 weeks of wearing. I had to apply super glue just to make my money's worth (plus I love the look and comfort).

These boots were true to size. I am an 11 and that\'s what they are. They are incredibly comfortable. Ne need for any break in period and look great with jeans or dressing up. My main shoe to wear out any night!

I have yet to wear this boot and one of the side zippers has already broken. This is slightly disappointing because (1) they cost so much, (2) Zappos no longer has my size (what can I say, it's a good looking boot), and (3) John Varvatos' official store will not exchange. Zappos has offered a full refund, but this does not remove my true disappointment with a "quality" designer such as John Varvatos. If you want to take the risk, the shoe is soft, comfortable, and sturdy. It fits relatively true to size, but be prepared for some extra room upfront with the slightly elongated toe.

Different look; really comfortable. It's hard to find something with a different look, but these work. Lightweight cloth. Fit is on the large size. I normally buy 30-32 waist; a 30 in these fit perfectly.

I'm not very big on thongs or sandals, but being a SoCal native they are a downright necessity. I had another pretty cheap pair of thongs that I ordered from Zappos a couple years back...they served their purpose but I never really liked how they felt. Recently I've been buying a lot of Converse by John Varvatos, as to me these shoes epitomize everything that a Converse SHOULD be and everything I had always wished Converse to be. I especially like the slip on Chucks and Jack Purcells. Anyway, I stumbled across these super cool looking Varvatos Zip Thongs and the only thing holding me back was the price tag. I used to be way into Prada shoes and also pricey brands like Mephisto and Ecco...and while Prada, Mephisto and Ecco are three of the BEST BUILT and most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, the looks are incredibly *boring*. I recently received another pair of Varvatos over Christmas so this designer has caught my eye since. Anyway, to make a long story short, I ended up buying these thongs and I'm glad I did. They are unbelievably comfortable and feel incredibly sturdy. They are ridiculously sexy with any outfit & do not feel clunky and cumbersome like so many flip flops tend to. I only have one complaint which is easily fixed. The soles are EXTREMELY slippery and I almost ate it down a flight of tile stairs earlier today. To prevent this, I am taking them to a high end shoe boutique where they will add a little pad to the bottom of the soles in order to achieve a better grip. I've seen their work on other high end shoes and I must say they do an excellent job. These are a fantastic pair of thongs with a great color (changes from black to a deep brown). I'm sure a Prada equivalent (that doesn't look nearly as fashionable) would run you upwards of $400. Definitely check these out along with Varvatos' CONVERSE line (try to find the suede multi eyelets in either Nero of Ghurka...best shoes on our little planet).

Top quality, amazing style - Very nice pair of shoes by John Varvatos. Quality and finishing are fantastic. I love the vintage look of the leather. It's all about the details and nuances: the leather has a subtle aged look, the design is sleek and classic, can work both with a suit or with jeans, the color is dark brown, but not your standard brown, a matte brown with shades of black (espresso)...These shoes quickly feel very special and personal.

The Ago zip boot is a great looking boot from John Varvatos. My only reservation is that if it fits your foot it’s a great boot, but they are hard to fit well. The materials are very fine leather and extremely well constructed. The negatives are that the last is slightly narrower than most boots and there is virtually no shape to the insole, so perfect fit of the upper part of the boot is essential to a comfortable boot. I have one pair of the smooth leather boot that fits perfectly in a size 11 1/2. I could use a little more room to add an extra insole, but the room is not there. I tried the 12 in the rough out boot, which I like the look of better, and it is too small - in a size 12! Go figure. What is great about Zappos is you get to try the size and if it doesn't fit, you can return it easily.

NOT COMFORTABLE - Have a number of JV sandals. For the most part they look good, are comfortable and are priced right. I find this pair extremely uncomfortable. The hard rubber sole is just firm (reminds me of shoes made with recycled rubber tires). Don't even think about wearing them out for an entire day.

I love these sandals. I wear them almost all of the time now. They are dressy enough for work (OK, my office is pretty casual). They go with just about everything from shorts to dress pants. They don't offer any cushion, so if you need/want that, these probably aren't for you. However, they stay put on your feet and don't wear thin on one side the way a lot of flip-flops do. These sandals were the only footwear I brought when I visited San Francisco about three weeks ago. I walked for hours in them with no problem, even up the steepest hills.

Love everything about the shoes, but the sizing was wrong. Read the review to size up a half size and ordered accordingly. Wore the shoes for a week and the suede stretched out enough, so the shoes now flop on my feet. Only order a half size larger if you plan on wearing socks. Otherwise, order true to size in the suede.

Good looks, poor performance.These thongs are extremely uncomfortable. They feel like I have wood planks strapped to the bottom of my feet. They look very nice and they go well with most outfits, but the comfort just couldn't get any worse. After walking in these for merely fifteen minutes, the tops of my toes already had blisters forming where the material was rubbing my feet.

If looks are everything - I have been wearing my JV Essex thongs for about 2 weeks - mostly around the house 'cause it's still cold out (I do that to break them in). Though I love the way they look, I must say they are very hard, no cushion at all. I think these are perfect for going out to a casual dinner or maybe even to party on say a yacht, but if you want to walk around St. Bart's for the day in these thongs, your feet might be a tad pissed at you, not to mention your wallet.
