I've had one of these bags for over four years. I use it daily and it has been a loyal and reliable companion. I bought another Jack Spade bag for my husband and he loves it. Quality product that will provide years of use.

Love the design of the vertical messenger bag. It sits better on my hip or back when I\'m walking, and feels less awkward than a traditional, landscape messenger, which tends to bounce around. Wasn\'t so sure about the closure of the flap, but I\'ve grown to like it, and it hasn\'t failed me. The pockets are well placed: two small zip-pockets on the front (which I\'m finding I use constantly for keys, ID badges, MP3 players, or phone), an open pocket along the back, the large main compartment inside contains a zip pocket along the back, pockets for pens or phones or whatever, and another smaller compartment along the front. \r\n\r\nThe bag feels very high quality and has held up reasonably well over several years of daily use as my primary work bag. However, the fabric on the outside along the bottom has started to wear through at the corners, and the strap, which is stitched directly to the bag, finally started to pull out, opening a seam in the process. Makes me wonder why Jack Spade didn\'t use a detatchable shoulder strap and a leather foot for the bottom of the bag.\r\n\r\nOn the one hand, the bag has taken a lot of abuse before failing, but on the other, I had messenger bags from Ogio and Eddie Bauer that cost about a third of this, and never showed any wear after comparable use. My 20 year old Eastpack backpack is in better shape. \r\n\r\nLike the style, though it is VERY understated/minimalist. Ergonomics is oustanding. Durability isn\'t what I had hoped from a brand that spends so much effort talking about the functional and durable designs of their bags. There are plenty of bag companies that make products that are both fashionable and bulletproof. I expected more.

I just don't get the size of this tote. It's enormous! (Granted, I am a very petite girl.) I think it's a tad too feminine for a male anyway. The handle is also very narrow so there is no way you can comfortably wear it over your shoulder. On a positive note, it's constructed beautifully. It has a cushioned lining which would be great for carrying around a laptop.

This bag exceeded my expectations. The pictures don't really do it justice. Good functionality. Good size. Durable, yet professional material. The pockets are more well thought out than the pictures seem to indicate. It costs quite a bit more more than I think it should, but I decided it's worth it for something I use every work day.

Style and quality, it\'s all there. Pretty simple bag, one main compartment and a spot for your pens etc. Holds a lot more than it appears it would. Could maybe use a padded strap but that might take away from the styling.

Overall, I like this bag, but I have a few minor complaints. I wish the strap had some sort of pad. The black fabric does a great job of picking up lint. I wish there were another small pocket or two inside, or maybe a zippered pocket in the flap. On the other hand, there's more room inside than I thought it would be.

This tote is bananas! Zappos got it to me the day after I ordered it. I love Goyard totes, but feel they are completely over-played so I was looking for a decent alternative. This one does the trick. Note: the price doesn't hurt either! It's the perfect size, seems heavy duty. Just love it!

I've been searching for the perfect bag that can transition from work to evening, and I finally found it in this one. It fits my laptop and has slots for both my wallet and cell phone, an inner zipper for important papers or other items, and an outer pocket where I store my Moleskine. It looks great, is comfortable, and is very sturdy. If you've never experienced Waxwear before, you'll be in for a pleasant surprise. I love it!

I got tired of running around with a backpack in warm weather. The waxed canvas repels rain, and with a little silicone spray, it’s practically waterproof! Very nice bag, except the outer compartment is flat (not stitched to be 3D) so things get wedged at the bottom (like keys, earphones) and you have to work to get them. Overall I love this bag.

I just got my Nylon Canvas Computer Field Bag II today, which was overnighted free of charge; due to my VIP account. I thought the bag would be lighter. After loading it up with books and a computer, it felt slightly uncomfortable; so a version with a padded strap would be more convenient. However, what [points] it loses in comfort, it gains in quality; it's durable. It makes the perfect airport carry-on bag as well. I would say this version is better than the regular version that a friend has, primarily due to a lack of versatility.

The look is great and the inside is perfect with lots of pockets and the laptop case and everything, but overall I found it to be just a little too large. Would have been perfect if it was 3-4 inches less wide and an inch or two shorter.

Good Messenger Bag; OK Shoulder Bag - I wanted a good shoulder bag that I could carry on the subway to work every day. I don't carry a laptop, so I didn't need a bag with a separate, padded compartment. Just a bag with a large main pouch and an easy-open flap to carry my lunch, my iPod, a book and maybe an extra pair of shoes on rainy days. And it needed to be durable. This bag meets all my requirements, except it's not designed to hang off your shoulder. It's designed to be worn with the strap across you chest, like a traditional bike messenger bag. I wish it had a padded strap, with some non-slip material on one side, so that it would hang more easily from one shoulder. I also wish it had a few more pockets inside to hold small items. However, the exterior side pockets for your iPod and mobile phone/Blackberry are a nice touch. Overall, it's a good, sturdy, every day bag if you can get used to wearing it with the strap across your chest.

Great bag - I like to carry lots of things with me so I am never unprepared. However, lately, I've been really into the minimalist look which meant I needed something smaller than the 1200cu messenger bags I use. This Jack Spade bag fit the bill. It has slots for pens, a small notebook (I put moleskin in mine), mp3 or video game system with a slit for headphones, a magazine slit in the back, and more. It also expands, like an accordion, so you can fit more stuff. The only complaint is on the inside, the sides are folded inward and sewn. It's difficult to explain but it's not uniform like the inside of an envelope would be. It has these seems that can get in the way.

Love this bag - This is the bag I was looking for. Minimal good looks on the outside with all the right stuff on the inside. The details are just right. My only complaint is that the shoulder strap could be a bit more comfortable. A padded section would have been nice. Other than that it's all thumbs up.

LOVE IT!I was one of those guys that was desperately afraid that a messenger bag was the equivalent to a man purse, but this is definitely not that. It is stylish, yet simple; refined, yet subdued; and emotes an air of class. It is functional, and still leaves me feeling safe about my belongings. I WOULD TAKE THIS ANYWHERE!

Love the bag - I have the orange version and I love it. The only downside is that it shows dirt easily, but I just use a mild detergent to handwash it and that keeps it pretty clean.

About Jack Spade

JACK SPADE bags began in a warehouse on Warren Street in 1996. They grew out of an idea that bags, could be both utilitarian and stylish. They started using waxwear fabrics and heavy canvases to make a few bags for friends. Over time JACK SPADE bags took the feedback they received to make the correct changes and develop a line of straightforward shapes.

JACK SPADE bags then thought to sell the bags in actual hardware stores to get the feedback from people who actually use utility bags. The first JACK SPADE bag was sold to a hardware store in 1997. Since then, the line has grown to include among other things, small goods.

Today, JACK SPADE bags remain true to the idea of simple, purposeful design. Having taken feedback from the people who's opinions are most important, they have grown into a mega brand known by many. Their hope is your new JACK SPADE bag or Jack Spade wallet will serve you well on your trip to wherever you are going.
