J-41 Reviews
This is my first pair of J-41 sandals. Usually I like to wear Born, Keen or Dansko sandals, but to find a cute, casual "heel" with a lightweight, supportive foot bed (that doesn't squeak, or leave marks!). It was worth trying a new brand - and I am so glad that I did! I know that the "strappy gladiator sandal" look is now quite popular, but I have never been that fond of straps visually cutting across the top of my foot - why shorten your leg length? But these St. John sandals, the way that the straps wrap (look at the Zappos top view) they accentuate and slim your foot, and the 'Nude' blonde beige looks great with a tan. I haven't had any problems with the Velcro back strap, and I am a 10M and these were a perfect fit.
I really wanted to keep these shoes because they are crazy cute, but I had to send them back. The toe box is very narrow and my toes felt squeezed like in a bad pair of pumps. I don't have wide feet, but I also do not wear pumps so I am not used to that squeezed feeling. And then, there is no arch support at all. The insoles are very squishy, but there's nothing in the arch which is probably also why I felt like I was standing on the side of a hill, as if my feet were angled downward although I was standing on a hard floor. Too bad because they are really, really cute.
These are very comfortable sandals - wore them the very morning I received them. They chafed a little around the toes at the beginning but that problem had gone away eight hours later - a very easy break-in.
I agree with Audrey who meant to give all 5 stars rather than one star each. Her review is exactly how I feel. I have never had a sandal that looked so nice and was so comfortable right out of the box. No blisters, no wearing in, no hurting bunions. They are superb and so lightweight you feel you don't even have shoes on!
I bought these and the Jambu Barefoot Spin, and these are the winners hands down. Perfect pit in my usual size 10. I have a wide foot with a high instep and can't wear ballet flats, but these are a nice alternative.
Perfect size heel. With a wide foot and a high arch, these actually fit great. Only drawback, there is no cushioning, so if standing or walking a lot, it may bother some. Looks nice on.
Without knowing it, my mother and I purchased the same shoe. We both agree that they are incredibly comfortable and cushioned. I took these shoes on vacation and wore them on all our 'walking' days.
I love this shoe! They are very comfortable to wear. I've worn them for errands, shopping, and trail walks with no issues. I really feel in love with them after a 10 hour day at Disneyland. I was not planning to wear these shoes at the park but ended up trying them out and they were perfect. It was a little warm so the mesh kept my feet cool. The protected toe area kept my toes from being stepped on in lines. And the moderate arch support was very nice. By the end of the day my feet felt great.
Overall, I really liked the look of these shoes, and the foot bed and strap along the back are very comfortable. Unfortunately, the small metal piece across the top dug into the top of my foot too much and I had to return mine. You can see the pattern on the foot bed even while you're wearing them, so that might not work for some people, but I really liked it.
Loved this shoe the first time I put it on. I have sensitive feet that can't stand heels (I normally only wear Vibram Fivefingers) but these shoes, the heel isn't as high as it looks, and the whole footbed feels like walking on...I don't know, firm marshmallows, I guess. Just great. I immediately bought another pair of J-41s that has the same footbed -- a strappy sandal. The color is kind of charcoal olivey. I don't know what arch support feels like, so don't quote me on that part.
Love this shoe! Very Comfortable. The straps are a little loose, however and I ordered a size 11, and it was a little long. I kept them because with the back strap they were still very comfortable. The criss cross straps were a little long but did not affect the comfort or wearability.
K41 Mango versus Jambu Coconut. I ordered both to compare. Teh Jambus just felt better made, though they are very similar shoes. The leather on the K41s seemed flimsier, and the soles less sturdy, with very little arch support. I could imagine feeling tired in these shoes after a day of walking. I ordered half a size up on both, mainly because I have wide feet and generally do so. Both fit OK but the Jambus were also more comfortable. Sorry, K41.
I love these shoes! I have two similar pairs from years ago and needed to replace them. They are very comfortable, have some arch support and are cute.
I bought these shoes for a vacation in Latin America when I knew I was going to walk a lot in the heat and even trek up some pyramids. they were perfect in comfort and style. I'm so happy that Zappos had my size as it seemed to be gone from everywhere else. My only piece of advice is that I have a slightly wide foot and these are perfect so they probably will not work for someone with a more narrow foot.
I tried these on as soon as they arrived and they were so comfy immediately--I didn't take them off. I LOVE that they don't have the "comfort shoe" look and are so cute. I bought the red and I will be wearing these a lot. Thanks, Zappos! Speedy delivery as usual. Got them the next day!
