After a great experience with Zappos customer service I thought was time to write my first review. I followed everyone's advice and went down 1/2 size... bad idea! I am not sure if people recommending to downsize are only using these shoes for crossfit but my experience as a runner is that you need that additional 1/2 size. Do not downsize if you are using these for running, especially if running hills. You will end up like me exchanging them for larger size and thanking God for Zappos amazing return policy.

I ruptured my Achilles' tendon December 5, 2013 doing a burpee while warming up for a workout, I'm 44 and have been active in crossfit and MMA fitness for several years now. I'm finally comfortable mentally to start lifting heavy again and bought these shoes which I've found to be incredibly stable. My squats are deeper than ever, cleans and dead lifts feel much more solid and my previous injury is now out of my head. I read the reviews and decided to order 1/2 size smaller which fits perfectly, nice snug fit.

I have tried many different shoes for Bootcamp over the last 2 years. This is the clear winner. I had ankle problems and was afraid to wear zero drop shoes so I eased into these slowly. No cushioning but much more stability lifting. Actually feel more agile and light footed. Get 'em, they're the Bomb! (Tried asics, NB and Nike Free)!

Just used these in both the Virginia Spartan Super, and the Vermont Spartan Beast (10:08...yes, that's hrs:min). I am pretty happy with them. I went from the old green baregrip 200's (best grip, bad durability) to these as I needed more ankle stability. They grip really well on mud/rock/grass, drainage is decent, true to size as compared to New Balance's, lateral stability is excellent, extremely comfortable on par with zero drops, no arch issues noted, and they are very durable. As I noted, the grip is not quite as total as the Baregrip 200's, but is very close (just compare the treads and you see why), but the new baregrips have been redesigned to be more durable so that is probably the same as mudclaws now. As a minor con the cleanup at home is a pain as they are too substantial to dry quickly and can hold moisture if you don't wash them quickly, making them smelly (baking soda is good to fix that).

I've worn these for 6 OCRs and they have worked great: 3 Spartan Sprints 1 Spartan Super 1 Spartan Beast in Killlington VT 1 Tough Mudder in ME they have a large toe box which is helpful for my wide feet. Lacing is great (double tie). Whether covered in thick mud or submerged in water they perform well and grip is great. Durability has been excellent. After over 100 miles of OCRs and mountain training they show no signs other than normal wear. They drain well and shed thick mud easily if quickly splashed with water. Highly recommend!

Got these for Christmas last year and have used them for general trail running throughout the year and just used them this weekend for Tough Mudder. They made short work of the muddy hills...while others on my team struggled to climb the slick mud, I ran right up without difficulty. I tossed them in the washer after the race and they wash up like brand new. They do run a bit narrow, so if you have wide feet, I can't imagine that you would be comfortable in these. They do feel a bit awkward on the paved road, but not too bad. I will definitely buy again! Also of note - the Spartan Race World Champ just wore these this weekend.

These are great shoes! I made the mistake of starting T25 workouts in my running shoes, and had some pain and injuries. On a recommendation I purchased these, and they really have made all the difference. Super lightweight, but stable and very comfortable. I do recommend the 1/2 size down. I wear a 9 women's, so initially I ordered the 9 and had to return them for 8 1/2. They also seemed a bit narrow, but conformed to my foot super quick. Love them!

Bought the Mudclaw 300's for the Super Spartan race at Mountain Creek two weeks ago, and I couldn't have been more pleased. Had run two prior Spartan races in standard running shoes, and the Mudclaws made a huge difference! Grip was amazing, even on steep muddy embankments. Everyone else was slipping and I cruised right on up. Great traction on rocky trails and for scaling obstacles. Washed up great, and ready for the next one! I did get blisters on both heels during the last two miles of the 8.5 mile race, but I attribute that to the cotton socks I was wearing. Next time will try non-cotton running socks. Shoe has limited arch support - some people might prefer to buy inserts. With the steep trail terrain I did not find the minimal arch support to be an issue. These shoes are a no-brainer for a Spartan type of race.

These shoes are freakin' amazing. I originally bought them for working out and weightlifting, but they are so comfortable that I wear them all day every day if I can! The only thing that annoys me is the super slippery shoelaces that won't stay tied, but clearly that's not an issue with the shoe itself.

Husband loves these more than any other shoe he's worn. Wore them for CrossFit for a year (and a lot of other places, too) and they started to wear out, so we just ordered the exact same pair. I am so happy they were still here so I didn't have to go through the whole ordeal of finding shoes he likes again!

I bought them for Cross Fit, they are very light and I feel like I run faster when I wear them. Overall, I like them and they do everything they say they are supposed to.

I've used these to run trail and hike long days. The 2 arrow cushioning is adequate for shorter runs or softer terrain, but definitely falls short on rocky trails or long days. The grip is fantastic.

This was my first foray into this sort of shoe. I haven't done a lot of running or hiking in it yet, but it has so far served me well for walking and jogging on pavement around my neighborhood. My foot feels very stable in the shoe, and it has great traction. True to size and width. I'm glad I made the switch and tried this out!

I just receivied these in the mail (thank you Zappos!) and tried them on for size. I have pretty wide, flat feet so I was worried these would be too narrow but that's not the case at all. The material has a lot of stretch so they're actually quite comfortable. Like others, I went a size down (normally 8.5, went down to 8) and am glad I did as these are plenty big with some wiggle room near the toes. I went with the bright blue color as that's all they had in my size at this time. It's BRIGHT but that's sort of in nowadays anyways right? Will give these the true test tomorrow during my P90X3 workout but I'm confident these will work out well for my needs.

I really like the look of the shoe, but leaves my feet aching at the end of the day. There isn't much cushion to the shoe. I got them because I did a search online for best shoes for plantar fasciitis and these were ones that popped up. Unfortunately, I feel like these shoes make it worse. This is the first time i bought shoes online without trying on and this will be my last.

Love, love, love! Having discovered the wonder of barefoot technology in realigning my body, I decided to give these a try. They are super comfortable, with stabilization but no "support." I wear them for the gym: some cardio, lifting weights, etc. Nice narrow fit on my size 11 N feet.

Great pair of Inov-8s. Light, but still sturdy. Comfortable. Only problem is the toe piece starts tearing easily. Maybe need to resize. I usually purchase half a size bigger for this brand as well. Occasionally get a random blister, but no problem breaking them in.

Love the colors, only have had the shoe about a month. So far so good. The wide size really makes a difference. Inov-8 makes the most comfortable shoes!

I bought these for participating in Spartan obstacle course races. So far I've used them in five Spartan courses ranging from the Sprint to the Super. The aggressive rubber nubs on the bottom are fantastic for climbing up the muddiest, slipperiest hills without sliding. The problem with the cleats though is that they do not shed the mud, it feels as though you've strapped on five pound weights after exiting any mud obstacle. You have to stop and run your fingers across the bottoms in an attempt to rid yourself of at least some of the trapped debris. Another problem I've found is that when they are wet and clogged with mud and you're running to the next obstacle, my ankles have tended to roll. I think this is because the heel is very narrow and high while the upper support is minimal. For my last Spartan race a week ago I switched to the Inov-8 Oroc 280 which still has aggressive cleats (they even have small tungsten carbide spikes) but they are spaced out more leaving more room to shed the mud. They performed great, seemed to shed water better (no squishing after exiting water obstacles) and to my surprise did not slip at all when running on rocks (I thought the tungsten carbide spikes might present a slippage problem across rocks). The only problem I had with the shoes was wearing them to Walmart before arriving at the race site - they're a bit noisy when walking across hard surfaces (don't do this at home!).

The shoe is okay. I guess that a great shoe is one you never think about or notice once it is on your foot. This one, however, will not stay tied. The strings are made of a slippery material that allows them to frequently come untied during exercise. The tongue will also slide to the outside of the shoe.
