If you want a place where people appreciate the benefits of a well-fitting, waterproof boot, Scotland seems a natural choice. Mr. Henry Lee Norris most certainly thought so when he set up shop with his master boot makers back in 1856. Originally, Hunter rain boots were designed for traversing Scotland's rugged terrain and combating its unpredictable weather. Since then, the reputation of Hunter men's rain boots, Hunter women's rain boots and Hunter children's rain boots for performance, durability and outstanding comfort has become legendary worldwide.
Although their links to the present day cover over 150 years and an awful lot of advancement, there are things about a pair of Hunter rain boots that Henry would still recognize: the care, the craftsmanship, and the refusal to compromise on quality.
The first of the famous Hunter green Wellingtons were seen back in 1956. Ever since, they've been mastering the art of welly making for children and adults, by using the best of new materials, introducing revolutionary technology and replying on good old fashioned hand craftsmanship. What sets Hunter rain boots apart from the competition lies in part to a closely guarded secret process. The result is a much stronger, watertight boot that will perform under the toughest conditions.
Hunter is equally proud of the things that have changed and the things that stay the same. The weather's just as wet and the Hunter rain boots are just as good! Today, Hunter remains the preferred welly brand for men, women and children who like to work hard and play hard. Wherever your pursuits may lie, be they in a distant wooded field or amidst the bustle of city streets, Hunter has the perfect footwear for keeping up with your unique lifestyle.

Perfect for me, at 4'11". The tall Hunter boots look good on taller people, but they came up to my knees and made me look shorter. So these are just right, midcalf length. Love them, wear them every time it rains. They do run a bit big, but that's good so you can wear big socks for winter.

I loved these boots when I first got them. I stuck some Superfeet in them for support and I could walk around on rainy streets all day in comfort. Then, by the next rainy season, the dreaded white waxy film set in. I tried the Hunter spray, olive oil, Armor All, and nothing worked...a whole winter passed and I never wore them because they looked terrible. Here it is, the next winter, and I've just spent another 90 minutes scrubbing away with the Hunter spray and Goo Gone and they look just as bad as when I started. I've watched people clean theirs on YouTube and read loads of reviews where people say all these things work, but not on mine. These are going back in the closet and I'll never buy another pair of Hunters. My beloved wellies. So sad.

I got these in black after reading all of the reviews. I got them a size smaller and they fit well. My only complaint/warning for people is that they are hard to get over the ankle and fit snug around my ankles. It's not a problem for me, but I have extremely thin legs and ankles (people constantly tell me I have chicken legs), so I worry for people with even regular sized legs and ankles that this could be an issue for you. Just a caution!

Ladies, these are the ones. Accept no substitutes. Hunter is the preeminent brand of Wellies. Whether you love the Royals (the British Royal Family) or not, admit they got it right choosing these boots for their country life. What other footwear is a home decorating statement? Other shoes left lying about look untidy. Hunter Wellies lined up at a bench in your entryway will be proof positive of your outstanding good taste. You'll be surprised at the comfort of these sturdy boots. And one can vary the snugness with thin or thick socks, Wellie Warmers or the like. Why choose Short boots? To avoid discomfort behind the knees from the tall ones, especially if you expect not to be tucking trousers into them all the time. The Shorts look great with all manner of sporty, outdoor or equestrian wear. In black or olive, they make a glorious fashion understatement. Do you really want to go about like Jemimah Puddleduck or a preschooler? Stay away from the garish, bright colors in these classics. Pair the black or green ones with a sweaterdress, tucked in corduroys and a lovely peacoat, or jeans and a field coat. Tie a Hermes scarf costing five times as much over your hair, if you must. Do yourself a favor. Scuff the Hunter Wellies up a bit, and leave a little soil dried into the treads and edges. This lends an air of casual elegance. Wellies straight out of the box are kind of like super bright white sneakers. If you don't want to look like a tool, walk through a barnyard, or a construction site if you haven't a barnyard at hand. Instant credibility. There's also a fine Hunter Wellie pouch made by the manufacturer. A separate item retailing in England for about $20, the neoprene logo baglet clips to the boot's buckles, with a sewn on, wide elastic that stretches around the entire leg. Taking your dog out for "walkies," attending a festival or outdoor concert, hiking the moors...if you drop your keys, ATM card or money "somewhere along the way" in the rain, it's a disaster. Add a Wellie Pouch to your Hunter Wellies, and your worries are over. A pair of Hunter Wellingtons have a very attractive price point, and will last for years, actually getting better over time. Do invest in real Hunter Wellingtons. They won't gather dust in your closet.
I'd also recommend: There ARE no comparable brands.

Love! I love everything about these boots. The green I bought is a nice medium hunter green that is surprisingly versatile and not boring at all. I originally ordered the tall version of these boots but found the tall shaft kind of stiff and uncomfortable. With the short version I can wear them with almost any pants and just tuck them in instead of having to wear skinny jeans or leggings like with the tall version - I hate having to plan my outfit around a rainy day like that. They run a half size big so order down - I wear an 8.5 and the size 8 fits me perfectly with medium weight socks. I knocked one star off for comfort because they are rubber and so naturally a bit stiff and awkward but that is to be expected I guess.

I bought the short Hunter boots for my NYC daughter, and she is thrilled. I love Zappos because if it doesn't work out, you don't feel ripped off. I bought a dress from another catalog. It was horrible, not like it looked or was purported to be. I had already paid shipping, and I had to pay shipping to send it back. Never again.
