I've ordered MANY Hunter boots and none have fit me around the calf. The Original, the Huntress and even the Argyll were too tight. I don't even have particularly chubby calves, either! (approx. 17 inches around) I finally found what I needed with the Original Short because they come up just below the widest part of my calf. There's still plenty of length to tuck in your pants and they are high enough to tramp around in muddy forests and shallow creeks. I'm glad they're shorter than the Hunter Original because now I'm not tempted to venture into mud that I might get stuck in! My feet were a little sore after a several mile hike, but some nice insoles fixed that.

Brands I'd also recommend: Teva, Merrell, Simple

Wellingtons in review - I’m very pleased with the fast processing, packaging, and product. My only real disappointment was that my "British" boots were Chinese made. I try to avoid Chinese made items whenever possible to support American- or British-made goods. However, I've always wanted a pair of Hunter boots so I'm ignoring the Chinese part. I still think it's a shame though. The fit was a little big for my size 8 wide foot, but I think a smaller size would be too tight. I'm hoping a lot of sock will get rid of any sliding. Just got to use them outside today in the rain. Felt great and as an English friend of my told me, "They're posh!"

Great Wellies! Perfect boot for rainy days. Previously I tried the taller Hunter boots, but they felt too tall and therefore not so comfortable. I usually wear a 7.5 but ordered a 7 and they fit just fine. The only issue I've had is they painfully rubbed the back of my calves when I didn't wear long socks. They are fine with long socks or when tucking pants into the boot. I would recommend these boots. They are comfortable, fashionable and practical.

Comfortable, practical, springtime boot - I got these mainly because I walk and bus to work and in the spring/fall I've trashed some good shoes on rainy days. So I decided it was time to get some comfortable rain boots and these seemed like they would fit the bill. Perhaps they're not as stylish as some others that have cute patterns, but these are definitely more comfortable. I read other reviews stating that these run large, so I ordered down in size and am glad I did. Maybe they're made for wearing really thick socks as they do not have any sort of warm lining (as in, they're great for warm weather, not suitable for winter wear). But I'm wearing them we trouser socks, so I'm glad I ordered down. The arch support is pretty good, though I might just get a pair of drug store inserts to add a little bit more. These are exactly what I was going for: practical, completely waterproof, and comfortable to walk in.

    All about Hunter

If you want a place where people appreciate the benefits of a well-fitting, waterproof boot, Scotland seems a natural choice. Mr. Henry Lee Norris most certainly thought so when he set up shop with his master boot makers back in 1856. Originally, Hunter rain boots were designed for traversing Scotland’s rugged terrain and combating its unpredictable weather. Since then, the reputation of Hunter men's rain boots, Hunter women's rain boots and Hunter children's rain boots for performance, durability and outstanding comfort has become legendary worldwide.

Although their links to the present day cover over 150 years and an awful lot of advancement, there are things about a pair of Hunter rain boots that Henry would still recognize: the care, the craftsmanship, and the refusal to compromise on quality.

The first of the famous Hunter green Wellingtons were seen back in 1956. Ever since, they’ve been mastering the art of welly making for children and adults, by using the best of new materials, introducing revolutionary technology and replying on good old fashioned hand craftsmanship. What sets Hunter rain boots apart from the competition lies in part to a closely guarded secret process. The result is a much stronger, watertight boot that will perform under the toughest conditions.

Hunter is equally proud of the things that have changed and the things that stay the same. The weather's just as wet and the Hunter rain boots are just as good! Today, Hunter remains the preferred welly brand for men, women and children who like to work hard and play hard. Wherever your pursuits may lie, be they in a distant wooded field or amidst the bustle of city streets, Hunter has the perfect footwear for keeping up with your unique lifestyle.

Love it! Love my new Hunter Wellies. I opted for the short since I had heard reviews regarding the calf area being tight on the originals. The shorts fit my calves and pants perfectly. I ordered a size smaller than my usual (I wear size 10, but ordered size 9) based on other reviews. I was also very happy with this decision. I got the purple ones and think they look good with all colors (black pants, brown pants and denim). These have been great in Chicago's rainy spring weather.

Love my Hunters - When my original order for Hunter boots did not work out (my calf is shorter than I thought), I was hoping there would be an alternative. I found this shorter version and they are fun, fun, fun! These actually fit me better not just in height, but they hug my leg for a perfect fit.

Love the aubergine/purple color. Had to order a full size smaller. Be sure to wear socks or knee highs so your feet don't get stuck inside. My large calves just fit. No room to tuck in pants, but at least my feet will be dry!

Brands I'd also recommend: Ugg - they make snow boots too!

I was initially hesitant about buying a pair of rain boots at this price, but considering I was unfortunate enough to have a pair that… let’s just say didn’t keep the water out of my shoes, I buckled down and gave these Hunter Boots a try. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE BOOTS. I’m a 10 in Women’s, but easily fit a size 8 in Women’s. You might want to do a size or two down from what you actually wear. I like the short Hunter rain boots because there’s more flexibility in them compared to the taller version. They have that old English charm to them and I have loved them the minute I brought them. They are well worth the money.

Return - These boots look cute but that's about it. They're heavy and have a plastic smell. Do not expect to wear a cute skirt or shorts with these, pants should be tucked inside the boots to protect the skin, as I found out the hard way as the rim of the boots cut into my legs and left scars that are still visible months after.

The aubergine is a subtle enough purple that they’re not obnoxious, which I love. I ordered a 9 although I usually wear a 10, and they fit fine with thin cotton socks (haven’t tried them with wool socks yet). I wish I would have gotten the taller ones, but I do love these boots.

They feel very roomy, even a half size down from my usual size. I love the short height as I have short legs and they aren’t too tall. Very wide opening at top, a little tough to get boot legged jeans over.

I ordered the Hunter boots for my daughter. She is a counselor at a sleep away camp, so I can\'t comment on comfort, but I can say, they are very well made and I am certain her feet will stay dry!She loved the look of the boot, and any rain boot that an 18 year old will wear, says a lot for the shoe!! Enjoy!

I have several pairs of Hunter boots, but I much prefer this shorter version. I always struggled with the taller ones being to tight on my calves hence no room to tuck my jeans into the boots. I am always watering, walking through wet grass, washing an animal;you name it and these boots have never failed me. I do however slip around in them a bit especially walking down hill, but I fixed that issue by putting Ugg insole replacements in them. Now they are perfect. I only have the traditional green, but am tempted to order another color for variety.

Totally cool! Love these! Nothing like looking hot in a pair of rain boots. Recommend getting the liners though - need them for warmth! They look good, fit well and are easy to walk in.

Brands I'd also recommend: Still love the Franco Sartos - always a good fit!

Great boots! I was worried about the taller version since I am 5'5"; thought they would look silly and not stylish. These are comfortable and keep my feet dry from the elements. I have worn them with jeans tucked in and with leggings. Not great for long periods of time; let's face it, they are rubber and your feet don't breathe. Hunter is a wonderful brand with exceptional quality. I ordered up a half size because I have a wide foot and wear thick socks in the winter. They are a tad bit loose, but I loathe tight boots. Buy them & thank me later.

These boots are very sturdy! I have a pair of Uggs and I'm usually wary of slipping and falling when it's wet outside; however, the bottom of these boots have a strong grip so I feel confident now. However, I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but my feet begin to stink after wearing these a while. I haven't gotten it yet, but I think there are welly socks that are sold. When I went to go look for welly socks, they only had it for the tall boots and not the short ones! Bummer!

Great boot, sturdy, well-made, good looking. Some sizing comments: my calves are too thick and muscular (16" circ.) to wear the original high boot; the shorter version is a bit snug, but okay. I am typically a 9 1/2 wide, with a high instep. I listened to some of the reviews and ordered down to a 9, which almost worked with thin socks (a little hard to get on and off), but did not work with a welly sock underneath. Had to go up to a 10, which is what I usually do with boots. FYI, the welly sock will work with the shorter boot; you just have to fold or scrunch the top down a bit.
