Very comfortable boot I use to walk to train every day. Had to go half size up for fitting purposes.

These boots are comfortable and look very durable. I haven't tested them in snow or rain yet but they look very waterproof. I ordered a half size up and they fit fine. The purple color is cute.

Bought these for my 13-year-old, who isn't into wearing chunky winter boots anymore, but still goes out for recess and walks home from school throughout the winter. These boots are a good compromise, as they make me happy by protecting from cold and snow, but are acceptable to him appearance-wise.

One of the best pair of boots I own. I live way up in the UP of Michigan so its important to have something warm and water proof. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the laces, they're long and the tighten lace always just sticks out. I also wish they were a little taller for walking through those big snow banks. Other than that they're very grippy, warm, and waterproof.I haven't slipped yet which is good.

Based on other reviews and my knowledge of snow boots, I ordered a 9 which is a half size larger than what I normally wear. It was slightly too big - I could tell when I walked that there was too much room in the toe area. It took forever for me to lace them because the laces kept slipping on the fur and wouldn't stay tight. The fur was just too much for me. I couldn't fit my jeans over it and expect them to stay there when I walked. They seemed like they would be pretty comfortable if I had the right size. Looked big and clunky on my feet. Treads felt slippery to the touch, and I don't ever like treads like that, they just never stick on slippery surfaces. I compared them with the Vasque Pow Pow Ultra Dry, and the Vasques were more comfortable and warmer, plus the treads were better and they fit more what I was looking for - a versatile boot to wear everywhere in rain and snow, while camping or hiking or walking through my backyard or from store to store. I also tried the Merrell Polarand Rove Peak, and I love those! They have great treads and they're warm too.

I work outside and needed something waterproof, light weight and warm. These are all that and cute. I do not think that I am going to have to buy foot warmers this year. I am very Happy with my purchase.

The most painful pair of boots I've ever worn. Both of my feet were bleeding after wearing them hiking the first time. The boots have a hard plastic liner that go halfway up the inside. Its top edge will rub the bottom of your ankle bone with every step. I would've returned them if they didn't have my blood on them. A lawsuit would probably be a more appropriate course of action.

I have bought 13w for boots for years and these are just too small. I tried a 13R and ordered 13w and 14r and none fit that great. Both are going back, they just ache after an hour sitting in the chair. I was trying on with lightweight Timberland outdoor sock.

Could've been the perfect winter boot, but had some issues with the fit...I first ordered a 7 (I wear 7-7.5 usually), and they were pretty snug -- I intended to wear thick socks, so returned for the 8. However, once the furry liner gets matted down, the boot got a lot bigger and worsened the issues I had with the boot rubbing under my ankles. However, lacing up real tight helped with the size issue (not so much the ankle stuff). Living in MN I wear my winter boots nearly half the year. This was the year I was going to splurge and buy "real" boots. I had the perfect opportunity to break them in, spent 4 days hunting along Lake Superior in them, temps ranged from 6-37 F, snow on the ground for several days, melting the last day (aka slushy, wet conditions). So, not as cold as it gets, but I was outside for up to 10 hours at a time in them, sometimes walking/hiking, sometimes sitting and standing for awhile. The good: Attractive boot, good height. Quite warm (granted I wore 2-3 pairs of wool socks + toe warmers) but wasn't miserable outside for hours on end. I like that you can lace them up tight or leave really loose and sort of slide them on. I have rather flat feet and didn't have any problems with the soles of these boots. The not-so-good: The boot is stiff, and caused me problems. It may be me, I've had issues with shoes/boots rubbing my ankles wrong. But these were painful, even through all my layers. I was on a lot of uneven terrain and hills and before long I couldn't ignore the discomfort. I'd recommend wearing these around the house all day, try some uneven surfaces, I guess. They were a tiny bit slippery on the snow (but maybe I was just not stepping right to relieve some of the pressure on ankles). Also, kind of squeaky rubber. I'd suggest ordering your regular size, as it gets a little roomier, and taking the time to break them in. On the plus side, can't beat the customer service at Zappos! I so was impressed and grateful they'd accept this briefly worn return that I intend to give them my business for a different pair, even if some local stores offer 30 day 'real-world' trials. I really appreciate how dedicated to customer service they are!

I really liked the style, but they were about a half size too small in the foot and then too large around the leg/calf. Wearing a thin sock, my foot was squished inside. Meanwhile, I had to lace up the boot so that all the loops were touching and you couldn't even see the tongue. The cushion felt good, but the boots are pretty thin and I can't say how good they would be in snow/wet weather. I will be returning these and getting a different pair. Why is it so hard to find a fashionable pair of winter boots?

I just bought my second pair of Altitude 4s, and I couldn't be more excited. Hiking has been my favorite form of recreation for most of my life, and I purchased my first pair of Altitude 4s back in 2007 (actually, they were a gift). They lasted 3 years, and I hiked all over the Ozarks and in many places in Upstate New York in that time -- many many miles of rugged trails are beneath those boots. The waterproofing never wore out (I still use them in them in the snow) and the support didn't give out until the third year -- and I have low arches and permanently damaged big toe joint. Then I had a gift card for a store that didn't carry these and I met someone who raved about Timberlands, so I bought a pair of Timberlands with that gift card, which didn't fit well (way too big) and hurt my toe joint. The Timberlands have gone on maybe half the hikes my old Hi-Tecs did and I already am going back to the Altitude 4. They're the best boots out there.

Looks great but had little to no arch support and felt narrow. I work as a nurse and mid way through a 12 hour shift my feet are killing me.

These are some serious hiking boots. They seems sturdy and look as if they will be water-proof. The arch support was excellent. Unfortunately, they are a little to heavy for me. Also, the right boot felt a whole size larger than the left one while the left boot pressed uncomfortably against my lower leg. Returned.

Just wanted to say I've had these for around seven years now. Only now are they starting to show wear. These are long-term strong boots that keep you warm and dry. Last year, Chicago's polar vortex finally started to do them in but only after years of service. So these are a great investment. The front ties are a little long but you can tuck them. This is a great brand. I also have their hiking boots and they look nearly brand new and I bought them EIGHT years ago. The other great thing about Hi-Tecs? They are so light. That matters when you are trudging up el stairs. Great buy!

I like this shoe. I like it so much I bought a couple more pairs. It meets all my needs and fits well. I was nervous about buying shoes online, seemed trying on was vital, and it was as the first pair was a tiny bit large. Easy enough to solve with their return policy. Good experience all around. I wear them to work everyday, and I'm kind of rough on shoes which is why I bought several. It's a light duty WP hiker, not great for muddy stuff or snow, it is a low rise, but excellent for easy hikes or daily wear.

Not the least bit waterproof. I'm in the golf industry and walk through dew covered grass every morning. the waterproofing failed within the first week. Otherwise this seems like a fairly solid shoe. Walks well, has good traction, decent arch support, and a true to size fit. If I hadn't depended on the waterproof stat so much I would give it 4 stars, but of any "waterproof" shoe I've had, this failed in the shortest time.

I bought these shoes for a camping trip. I was a little nervous because I didn't have time to break them in beforehand. They turned out to be perfect!! They kept my feet warm and dry, even though it was rainy and got as cold as 40 degrees. They were also very comfortable and supportive. Miles of walking, some of it up and down slippery, wet inclines and my feet were perfectly comfortable. They're supportive and have good traction. I was so glad I bought these for my trip. If you are spending a lot of time outdoors - as soon as your feet are cold and wet, it's all over. These were so great and I really recommend them.

I am an 11 in women's and I ordered these because they were in my budget and looked really great for the rain and snow here in New York, but when I got them they run way too small and as you can see they don't come in a 12. So I ordered the Columbia Ice Maiden 2 ones for a little more in a 12 just in case. These are cute and look like they will work great for the winter's but order up a full size. Trust me or tou'll be sending them back!

I really love how these hiking boots look. I've only had them for a month, but I took them on a long camping trip with many many miles of hiking up and down mountains and they worked great. I have really pointy heels and always get blisters on them, no matter what shoes I'm wearing, so I was hoping these would be different, but I got blisters with these too. I just started putting duct tape on my heels every time we hiked and then I didn't get anymore blisters. So I'm pretty sure other people won't have the same issues...my feet are just weird. I would recommend these shoes. They kept my feet warm and dry when hiking through cold wet puddles and were sturdy and worked great!

Excellent shoe/boot. Have worn them for a couple of weeks now, and they feel the same every time I put them on. I would buy this style and brand again.
