These are very comfortable. They adjust is several places which is great for my narrow foot. A good choice for something that is comfortable for a lot of walking but looks less casual than some of the sport sandals

Great shoes for people who have high instep and feet that swell. Adjustment on the top of the foot and around the heel make it great to adjust to fit for comfortable wear. Highly recommend this shoe.

These are the best light hiking boots for the price. They are comfortable right out of the box. They are flexible, light, sturdy, and durable. They are perfect for a hike on a wooded trail and comfortable to wear around town all day. The last pair I had seemed to last forever - and I used them very hard. I will buy these again.

Bought these for my nephew for his birthday. He said they are great. He lives in Colorado, so there is all kinds of terrain; he is prepared for whatever the weather brings. Great purchase!

These are very comfortable shoes with just the right amount of stiffness for walking on rugged trails. The over-generous padding in tongue and collar was a little annoying at first, but I soon got used to it, and it feels fine now. Hi-Tec makes excellent footgear at reasonable prices. I also have a pair of Hi-Tec Sierra Lite Originals, which are my favorites.

Width- True to Fit? I wasn't sure which would fit better so I had Zappos ship me the Hi-Tec Altitude V I WP in size 9.5, width M as well as a Hi-Tec Altitude IV in size 9.5, width EE-Wide. I found that the Altitude IV's mid foot of the EE-Wide was actually more cramped in the mid-foot (sidefoot near arch area) than in the Medium width of this Altitude V I WP. The arch on the Altitude V I was also lower then the Altitude IV's I tried. Lower is better for me. Like others have said, both are a bit stiff out of the box. Most notably in the ankle support area. I suspect they'll loosen up after a few miles.

Very comfortable once I replaced the crappy insoles. Toe box is really wide which I don't mind. Haven't been on a decent hike with them yet but they have treated me well with all the yard work I've been doing recently.

Out of three boots I purchased, I chose to keep these and send the others back. They felt good on the feet and didn't have that terrible problem of having a hard spot on the heel. So it says it's waterproof but in reality it isn't. After wearing these for a short while (not even a half a year) I found that water and especially slushy snow would just soak right through these. Because water was able to so easily penetrate these boots they became more and more damaged on the inside. As in, the adhesive keeping the rubber treads to the rest of the boot became deteriorated. Eventually, the seal between the leather and the treads became loosened and an opening formed at the toes. This allowed water to get in and as of a few weeks ago, my boot officially talks and acts more as a scoop for water and snow as I walk. These didn't even last a year. Granted, I wear them everyday but the fact that they were so easily susceptible to water makes me feel that the failure of my boots is at least 50% a result of their quality. Hikers, please don't get this boot. It's a waste of time. Go for gortex or any other synthetic material if you truly want a waterproof boot. Leather tends to dry up and become seemingly useless without constant care and maintenance.

This is not an after purchase review. Not only do you not have the size that I need available, they only come in B medium width. I have problems/swelling in my feet which requires extra wide sizes, so I do not even have a chance on these and so many others I like. Many sales are being lost by not offering the widths that people need. My husband also has a very hard time finding things he likes in his size which, depending on the brand, is size 15W, or 14W. There are a lot of big guys around so I do not understand why they are not kept in stock very well. Usually he cannot even look at what he likes - he just has to pull anything that he can find in his size in a store, then buy the least objectionable pair. That is no fun, especially since they are usually very expensive. A lot of basketball, football players, etc. are big guys too, but I guess they just have a lot of money and can have them custom made. But what if you are not rich? Are you just out of luck? ;-(

I bought these for my husband, who works outside and is very hard on shoes. He has told me multiple times how warm they are and how dry they have kept his feet, even when dealing with this winter's snow. They are not heavy or thick, making them comfortable enough to wear all day. Usually a very picky customer, my husband is very pleased (which means I am, too).

The left vamp strap is not adjustable and it was too long. The straps on the left shoe are different length than on the right shoe. Footbed is also uncomfortable because of too many straps.

I bought these in early January since a storm was in the forecast, and I was glad I bought them! I wear a 7.5 in shoes and an 8 in sneakers and boots. I bought the 8 and they fit fine although I can't really wear thick socks under them. However, thick socks aren't needed so much since the boots keep my feet warm and dry. I only wear them to and from the bus stop, so I don't know how they'd be wearing for hours. I drove with them once, and it felt weird to drive in them, because they are a bit heavy. I don't drive often, so no big deal. Comfort and warmth are important, and I think these fit the bill.

This woman lives in NYC and wears a woman's 11W. Needed new snow/slush boots and have found mens 9.5 W are perfect. Ordered these on a Wednesday and they arrived on Friday in time to replace my 10 year old leaking boots and in time for the current thaw and slush. Comfortable with thin or thick socks, non-leak tongue, and orange details give them a little pizazz. My husband is jealous. They are lightweight, have some flex, and are not so hot and heavy, so I can wear them to the theater or movie at night and not swelter. Probably good for my once a year hiking trip with the girls. Perfect. Highly recommend.

I love the fit and feel of this boot. I didn't notice that the boot has grommets instead of lace holes. In the past I've always experienced these breaking and how hard they are to replace. Shoe lace holes are the way to go on a hiking boot you expect to last for a couple of years.

These boots are great for walking around a college campus in the middle of winter, that's for sure. Very comfortable and warm. However, when outside in snow and 10 degree weather for more than an hour my feet were freezing! Definitely not designed for long-term outdoor use.

Purchased these for my son and he loves them. Reports that they are comfortable and warm. Just what he needs for this exceptionally cold upstate NY winter this year. Thanks Zappos!

Tried every store in the area and none had my size (14 D) My daughter said try Zappos, so I did and found many boots that I liked and were in stock. When they arrived they fit perfectly. Zappos is now in my favorites list.

Great shoe, fits right out of the box! Image needs to change though: color is not brown, but more green. Liked it just the same, but that was a surprise.

I live in NYC and needed a new pair of winter boots. In the past, I had Sorels and they were so heavy and clunky, I was looking for something lighter, more wearable, and vegan. I'd never heard of this brand but thought I'd try them out since I liked the style and price point. They are light, comfortable, warm and water-proof. I've worn them through snow and sleet and my feet have stayed dry and comfy. The only issue with these boots is the tread: because they are more like a sneaker, they are extremely slippery in wet, slushy, or snowy conditions. I actually slipped and fell in the subway going down the stairs because the tread has no traction and that is why I've deducted a point. For this reason, if I could return them, I would. I think Hi Tec shouldn't pass these as snow boots because of the tread issue and/or should modify the sole to have more traction.
