I really liked the style, but they were about a half size too small in the foot and then too large around the leg/calf. Wearing a thin sock, my foot was squished inside. Meanwhile, I had to lace up the boot so that all the loops were touching and you couldn't even see the tongue. The cushion felt good, but the boots are pretty thin and I can't say how good they would be in snow/wet weather. I will be returning these and getting a different pair. Why is it so hard to find a fashionable pair of winter boots?

I just bought my second pair of Altitude 4s, and I couldn't be more excited. Hiking has been my favorite form of recreation for most of my life, and I purchased my first pair of Altitude 4s back in 2007 (actually, they were a gift). They lasted 3 years, and I hiked all over the Ozarks and in many places in Upstate New York in that time -- many many miles of rugged trails are beneath those boots. The waterproofing never wore out (I still use them in them in the snow) and the support didn't give out until the third year -- and I have low arches and permanently damaged big toe joint. Then I had a gift card for a store that didn't carry these and I met someone who raved about Timberlands, so I bought a pair of Timberlands with that gift card, which didn't fit well (way too big) and hurt my toe joint. The Timberlands have gone on maybe half the hikes my old Hi-Tecs did and I already am going back to the Altitude 4. They're the best boots out there.

Looks great but had little to no arch support and felt narrow. I work as a nurse and mid way through a 12 hour shift my feet are killing me.

These are some serious hiking boots. They seems sturdy and look as if they will be water-proof. The arch support was excellent. Unfortunately, they are a little to heavy for me. Also, the right boot felt a whole size larger than the left one while the left boot pressed uncomfortably against my lower leg. Returned.

Just wanted to say I've had these for around seven years now. Only now are they starting to show wear. These are long-term strong boots that keep you warm and dry. Last year, Chicago's polar vortex finally started to do them in but only after years of service. So these are a great investment. The front ties are a little long but you can tuck them. This is a great brand. I also have their hiking boots and they look nearly brand new and I bought them EIGHT years ago. The other great thing about Hi-Tecs? They are so light. That matters when you are trudging up el stairs. Great buy!

I like this shoe. I like it so much I bought a couple more pairs. It meets all my needs and fits well. I was nervous about buying shoes online, seemed trying on was vital, and it was as the first pair was a tiny bit large. Easy enough to solve with their return policy. Good experience all around. I wear them to work everyday, and I'm kind of rough on shoes which is why I bought several. It's a light duty WP hiker, not great for muddy stuff or snow, it is a low rise, but excellent for easy hikes or daily wear.

Not the least bit waterproof. I'm in the golf industry and walk through dew covered grass every morning. the waterproofing failed within the first week. Otherwise this seems like a fairly solid shoe. Walks well, has good traction, decent arch support, and a true to size fit. If I hadn't depended on the waterproof stat so much I would give it 4 stars, but of any "waterproof" shoe I've had, this failed in the shortest time.

I bought these shoes for a camping trip. I was a little nervous because I didn't have time to break them in beforehand. They turned out to be perfect!! They kept my feet warm and dry, even though it was rainy and got as cold as 40 degrees. They were also very comfortable and supportive. Miles of walking, some of it up and down slippery, wet inclines and my feet were perfectly comfortable. They're supportive and have good traction. I was so glad I bought these for my trip. If you are spending a lot of time outdoors - as soon as your feet are cold and wet, it's all over. These were so great and I really recommend them.

I am an 11 in women's and I ordered these because they were in my budget and looked really great for the rain and snow here in New York, but when I got them they run way too small and as you can see they don't come in a 12. So I ordered the Columbia Ice Maiden 2 ones for a little more in a 12 just in case. These are cute and look like they will work great for the winter's but order up a full size. Trust me or tou'll be sending them back!

These are true to size and great for my wide feet and thick calfs. These boots are super light and cute and very flexible.

I really love how these hiking boots look. I've only had them for a month, but I took them on a long camping trip with many many miles of hiking up and down mountains and they worked great. I have really pointy heels and always get blisters on them, no matter what shoes I'm wearing, so I was hoping these would be different, but I got blisters with these too. I just started putting duct tape on my heels every time we hiked and then I didn't get anymore blisters. So I'm pretty sure other people won't have the same issues...my feet are just weird. I would recommend these shoes. They kept my feet warm and dry when hiking through cold wet puddles and were sturdy and worked great!

Excellent shoe/boot. Have worn them for a couple of weeks now, and they feel the same every time I put them on. I would buy this style and brand again.

Nice boot but was too short. I ordered a 10 -- need 10-1/2 and I can only get an 11 which will be too big for me.

Well made boot, sturdy, supportive, good fit, cradles the foot without binding it. Stiff at first and requires breaking in--not unusual in an all-leather upper. There's a design flaw, however, but one which can be and was handled at home with needle nose pliers. Don't know if it is because I'm a woman and didn't have the patience or toughness to have the outside of my ankle worn to a nubbin while the boot softened up, or if the 1/2 inch long stamped medal "nameplate" inserted at the crease of the boot's ankle was hammered in at the wrong place. No matter, the shank of thing created constant friction and a sore. Popped it off easily and all is well now.

I got these shoes because I had a toe injury and could not wear closed toe shoes. These shoes are a godsend! They are comfortable enough to wear all day. I can hike, wade through water and even ride my bike. They are a great value for the money.

After reading so many 5-star reviews for these sandals, I felt like I couldn't go wrong. Well, they're definitely not 5-star sandals for me. I was really counting on a super-comfy, cushy footbed but find it a bit too firm for my liking. I also don't particularly care for the Velcro strap that goes over the top of my foot. It doesn't hit in quite the right place. I think I just have really weird feet!

These shoes are true to size. The only thing to mention is that when I first got them and wore them around the city without my hiking socks (to try and break them in before a hike). It gave me bruises where the top of the boot meets the ankle. However, I wore it with hiking socks later on multiple hikes and they were super comfortable, so maybe they just needed to be worn with the right socks and get broken into. Super light for hiking boots.

I have always liked Hi-Tec, inexpensive, comfortable and these are water-proof. I doubt they'd be good for really tough backpacking, but for an all-around shoe for light hiking/everyday, they do fine.

These boots worked great, I got them for a backpacking trip to Lassen for 7 days and they were super comfortable, not one single blister after 75+ miles of trail, make sure to wear thick wool socks and a thin under liner, for any boot that you decide to buy. These boots developed a tiny hole at the upper front of the boot where two pieces of material come together, but besides that a great boot. Also the width felt very true to size. I have wide feet and other boots that I have bought in wide sizes left my feet in pain.

Shoes looked cute but were too narrow and my little toe stuck out. Also, the worst part, was that the strap that would not adjust hurt the top of my foot. I have a very high instep.

These sandals are the bomb. I normally just use them for camping and fishing in Georgia, but most recently was in Maui on an unexpectedly difficult hike in the rain at O'heo gorge up to Waimoku falls. Had to stop and tighten the straps, but they delivered me through some scary (crazy cliffs nearby) trekking straight up the mountain for 2 miles. Just purchased another pair for my daughter in hopes that I can get her to hang with Mom on some adventures! Other than a rock concert. Kudos to hi-tech!
