I got these shoes for water hiking and canyoneering. Breaking in the shoes gave a few blisters but that’s typical for me. The first hike I did in these shoes was the Zion’s Narrows and I couldn’t be happier. If you’re not familiar with the Narrows in Zion it will test any shoe and these passed. 13 miles of the hike were in water and the shoe had no problem, the very hard bottom really protects your feet from hard river rocks also. I had to replace the laces but that’s about all. I don’t like stretchy laces so I used regular tennis shoe laces.

I've worn Hi-Tec hiking boots for 20 years and this is only my third pair...that's the quality. Yes, the sizes run small, but that is definitely an advantage to me and why I stay with this brand. I normally wear a size 5, but wear a 5.5 in these boots. They are comfortable and I'm happy to have the waterproof option as I'm taking them to Costa Rica in 2 weeks.

Way too small - Other reviews say these shoes tend to be large. It is exactly the opposite. I don't know if a full size bigger would fit.

I have worn these boots every day at work for about a month now and couldn't be happier with them. They did not need any breaking in and feel like I'm wearing a stout pair of sneakers. They fit to size, have nice room in the toe box, and are very well padded. They seem to be well built and I think they look great too. It will be interesting to see how well they keep the water out with Hi-Tec's new waterproofing system. I had first bought a pair of Ugg Hardy boots that really hurt around my ankle. They were hardly padded around the collar and eyelets. They looked good but what good does that do if you can't stand weaing them. There's a reason Zappos is doing so well in business and that's because of their excellent service. Buying shoes/boots without being able to try them on in a store is difficult at best but Zappos makes it easy with their no question return policy. They also pay both ways for shipping, which is very fast. You just can't go wrong with them.

I am happy with how the boots feel; they seem to have good support and room for my high arches. If I can get the same mileage out of these boots as my last pair which were a different model, that will be money well spent.

In 2007 I hiked the Appalachian Trail wearing Hi-Tec Nova Lite II's (just like these Outlanders). That is 2,174 miles. I used 3 pairs and didn't really wear out any of them. I highly recommend trying these boots for hiking. They worked great for me, never even a blister.

Reliable even for construction - I just bought this boots and have used them on a construction site. Regardless of all the mud, rain, and all other mistreatments, the boots are like new. Also, they are soooooo comfortable. I love them.

These shoes are great! Best shoes I ever owned. Super light weight. Very waterproof. Great support. I added the Spenco full arch support insoles. This combination is the most comfortable my feet have ever felt in shoes. I began to have problems with my feet and couldnt even walk for a few days. So I did some research and I arrived at this combination and could not be happier. It took a few days to break in the insoles but now I walk with out over pronating or extreme discomfort and pain that I now experience without these shoes if I walk for over a mile. I now feel confident to walk 10+ miles a day.

My husband LOVES these shoes. I was somewhat concerned about ordering golf shoes on line, but these are very true to size and really smart looking. Great price, too. Warmest boot - I bought these boots to take on a trip to Colorado, I have a chronic disease and I get very cold all the time, especially if my feet are cold. I wore them in the snow at a ski resort and we walked for quite a while, all the time my feet were warm and comfortable. So I am very pleased with the boot…thank you. Also a very durable boot for whatever it is you are buying them for.

I bought these exact boots in the autumn of 2004. I have worn them almost everyday for work, hiking, whatever. They have had a hard life and until about a year ago, they retained their ability to repel water. This spring the actual leather began separating from the sole. Needless to say, I’m buying another pair. They do require some breaking in, but once they are, there isn’t a more comfortable boot out there.

Fabulous Boots - Warm, Warm, Warm... these boots are warm and very comfortable. I bought them for shoveling snow, trekking back and forth to town and for knocking about on the ski slopes. The boots are very comfortable. Perfect fit. Highly recommend them.

Great, but had to return them - I loved these boots, but ended up having to return them. The cut of the heel gave me horrible blisters. I wear a size 9, but even the size 10 did the same thing to me, although my foot moved around a lot in the larger size. I really wanted these boots. They were incredibly warm and kept my feet dry. I live in Chicago and walk about 2 miles a day from taking mass transportation into the city. If I didn't walk as much I would have been okay - still looking for a boot that fits well in the heel...I'm definitely looking at ones on Zappos. I am so happy with their customer service.

Cute Boots! I was very happy when I got my boots. They were a lot cuter than what I anticipated--the pictures don't really do them justice. I was skeptical ordering boots online since I couldn't try them on, but they fit perfectly! I'm very pleased with my purchase overall. I'd recommend these boots to anyone.

Hi Tec Cape Trail II - These boots are extremely comfortable and light-weight. I highly recommend. In my case, they fit true to size. They didn't require a lengthy break-in period. They felt great right out of the box.

Great Boot - I bought these because I was looking for a boot to definitely keep my feet dry, and after reading almost all the reviews, I gave them a shot. I've walked my dog about a dozen times now in knee-deep snow and slush, and I have not once gotten cold or wet feet. I bought a 7 but really could've used my normal size of 7.5. I got blisters on my heels the first time wearing them but that was all. You don't need thick socks to stay warm, so it could've been my socks. The laces are long but seem to be a stretchy nylon material and can easily be shortened. They look great and are lightweight. I'm glad I got them and thanks to everyone who took the time to review them!

Warmth, Quality and Comfort - What a nice winter boot! Sturdy, warm, and stylish whether you wear it in town or walking in the snow. Your feet stay dry and toasty. Good Chicago Boot - I bought these for my daughter who recently moved to Chicago and said her Uggs (which she had waterproofed) didn't keep her feet dry in the freezing cold slush. I bought these hoping they would do the trick and they did. She says they aren't the very cutest boot she's seen, but I know her, and she wouldn't wear them if she thought they were ugly. (She's 21.) She says she wears them all the time and they keep her feet completely dry and warm. She has no car, and has to walk quite a lot in this unfriendly Chicago weather to catch the various busses. Last week she called me while walking several miles to find a grocery store that she thought was near her bus line and said, "It sure is a good thing I'm wearing my new boots for this long walk. They are sooo comfortable, and I can walk through the slush without worrying about getting wet, cold feet." If you live in cold weather and want dry, warm, comfy feet, get these boots! I cannot say exactly how the sizing runs, but I got her size 9, which is usually what she wears, and no complaints.

Runs Small - I normally order an 8AA. I ordered an 8B. Way too small. I wish this came in half sizes. I just ordered a 9B. Hopefully it will work. Otherwise, cute and comfy. Seems to have arch support. Laces are a bit weird, but easy enough to get on and off. Hits at a nice height. Soft upper fits well.
