Love these boots. I love Frye in general and these boots really lived up to my expectations. I ordered a half size larger than I usually do to make room for socks. They fit perfect and I wore them all day the day after they arrived. They fit like I'd been wearing them for years, no breaking in necessary, and everyone who saw them loved them. Thanks Frye!

I love these boots. I have never spent this much on shoes before, but I don\'t regret it. \r\nThey\'re pretty comfortable and they look good with a lot of the clothes in my closet.

I love these boots! They fit great and were comfortable enough to wear all day right out of the box. They look good with skirts, dresses and leggings. Expensive boots but classic style will last for years and be worth every penny.

These are great basic boots that I find very comfortable. The dark brown goes with everything and there's room to tuck in your jeans. I typically wear a 6 1/2, but ordered the 7 after reading reviews. They felt a little big so I decided to order the 6 1/2 just to compare. I wound up keeping the smaller size; they fit perfectly and still allow room for a thicker sock which I will need here for Wisconsin winters. I think the snugger fit with the thicker sock is a better idea than a looser fit with heel slippage.

Comfort shoe aficionado loves her Fryes - I've been a comfort shoe fanatic for years--but I was totally seduced by the awesome appearance of these boots. I admit I am a boot-a-holic, but have stuck with comfort shoe brands thus far. This year, my two-year-old Born boots wore through at the sole, and my cobbler told me that short of gluing new soles on, there was nothing he could do. "Shoes like that," he said, "are made to be thrown away." I then vowed to spend a little more on my shoes if it meant I could be comfortable AND have shoes that last through the years. And I worried that the Frye Veronica Slouch would be uncomfortable, or stiff, but I've been so happy. True, they don't have super arch support, but you could add inserts. They have great bones, though, and are incredibly cool looking, and are comfortable within an hour of putting them on. Did I mention I am super picky about shoes? I bent these at the sole a few time with my hands and they were ready to wear for a three mile walk. I wear my shoes hard, and I'm looking forward to wearing these hard for years to come. Looking super-bad as I do it.

Additional Brand Information

The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the United States. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Great boots! I've heard for years how comfortable these boots are but wondered how, since they have no cushion. Well, after wearing and walking in them, now I know. They fit like a glove! Great color and style! Several reviews suggested to order a 1/2 size up. I did and had to exchange them for my regular size. Enjoy the boots!

I ordered the Veronica Slouch after having purchased a different style & color, which did not work for me at all. These boots are perfect. I most appreciated the comments on the site regarding how boots fit to size, and I can completely agree that these fit the way you would fit most other shoes. In contrast, the Engineer\'s ran very very small, so I am so grateful that we have these comments to guide us on size. I wear these everywhere, they are IT!!!

These boots look great and I would have done anything to get them to fit my wide calf. I know they don't claim to be wide calf, but one reviewer said they fit her 17 inch calf. Well they didn't fit my 17 inch calves. I don't usually like to pay quite that much for boots, but would have if these had fit. One boot was harder for me to get my foot in, but figure they would eventually break in and soften up. These boots look like they would just get better and better with age. If my calves ever shrink, I would definitely try these again.

I love my new boots! They were a great style, but were a little snug on the top of my toes. I know they will stretch, but I plan to wear them a lot and they were a little uncomfortable so I had the toe box stretched. Now they fit great! Zappos has the best shipping I've ever experienced! Most places in the continental USA treat Alaskans like we are on another planet and either won't ship to us or charge outrageously high for shipping! Free shipping and overnight! Wow!

The boots arrived very quickly, thank you! I wear a size 6 and the boots fit just right. They really didn't need any break-in time. I was a bit surprised that there is no lining at all in the shaft of the boot, unlike most Frye boots. I would have liked a leather lined shaft, but I kept the boots and am wearing them with skinny pants; from shopping to raking leaves they are perfect. I believe adjusting the buckled straps helps keep the boot from rubbing at the heel, so I've had no sore feet, ever. I'll be looking for another pair of Fryes.

Contrary to some reviews, I found these boots to be true-to-size (size 6 1/2) and a great fit. The softer leather and low heel make them far more comfortable than the two other styles of Frye boots (engineer and harness) that I own. These aspects also make the boots perfect for walking longer distances. Although expensive, they have been worth every penny.

These are are really, slouchy. They are so amazing! People stop me to tell me how great they are, but they really slouch. They lose at least 4 inches in height because of the slouching. They are so comfortable. I can wear them for 12 hours walking around and a touring a new city and not a single problem. Zappos customer service was amazing! Duh!

Really great boots, exactly as expected. All Frye boots take some breaking in because the leather is so thick. I have an average to narrow foot, exactly between a size 7 and a 7.5, and I got these in a 7.5 and they fit perfectly (I also have Frye "Harness" boots in a size 7). I really like them.

I loved my Frye "Veronica Slouch" boots in brown so much, I wore them out of the box, hot off the UPS truck! (I nearly tackled the driver.) I have to admit, my feet are strange: they have no arch whatsoever, wide forefoot, narrow ankle, etc. Yes, a real conundrum, normally! Yet, the fit of the "Veronica" was very accommodating; both in cupped support of my heel as well as ample room for my instep and front foot! (In reality, I could have gone up a half size to accommodate winter thick socks and still have the exquisite fit!) The other plus, is the calf is more than ample, yet articulated down to the ankle to show the lines of a "sexy" fit, or equivalent to an "equestrian" look, with a gentle slouch to the burnished leather but not too soft as to collapse completely. In regards to the leather, it is truly excellent quality calf (calf or goat?), the construction is complimented by a cut of leather that has no natural blemishes or "dry spots" to interfere with the design aesthetic or nicely moist leather. The burnished finish I have on my brown pair gives subtle dark hues at toe and heel, to give the impression you've owned them for years, yet I would not call it "distressed"; it looks perfect. Great toe room, great all around fit, including the functioning buckles at top and ankle (very easy to get boot on!), and if you have funky feet with a medium to wide calf, you'll still get that gorgeous slouch fit! The best money I have spent on anything in four months and Zappos treated me like I was gold, top customer service! Five stars on the boots, ten plus stars on the super cool people at Zappos!

I love these boots. I looked at them for a while before finally settling on them. I have larger calves (17 inches) and they're perfect! I bought them a half size bigger (normally I wear a 9 1/2 so I bought a 10) and they fit perfect. I can adjust the buckle to let them out a little while the leather stretches. I wore them for about 30 minutes at home and now I can pull them all the way up and shove my skinny jeans into them. Already contemplating another pair! I bought the cranberry, and they're a wonderful color. They go with everything! The leather is super soft on inside and outside. If you are unsure whether to buy, just get them! They are definitely worth the price and I'm already looking at getting more pairs!

I LOVE these boots! They are worth the money. They look super cute with skirts and tights and also with jeans tucked in. I agonized over whether to buy them, and I am so glad I did. I\'m even considering them in another color! I get lots of compliments from both men and women. I ordered a half size up and am glad I did. They do slip a little in the heel, but that is normal for most boots. I think I could have gotten my regular size on, but it probably would have been uncomfortable to wear. I wore them for a long time the first day, and have not complaints in the comfort department! Buy them!

First of all Zappos is hands down the best company to do business with. You should do seminars to teach others how to treat their customers. The boots arrived before I knew it so I was up and running in no time! Love these boots. I\'ve gotten so many compliments every time I\'ve worn them. They fit true to size for me. A little snug across the ball of my foot but now that they\'re broken in they feel great. Thanks Zappos!

I love these boots. I did debate on buying them because of the price, but I have already worn them so much that they have paid off. Was slightly disappointed that they are not as tall as I thought. I thought they would hit higher up on the calf. But they still look great with jeans or with a skirt or dress. The first time I wore them was to a concert where I stood for 4 hours and my feet were never in pain. Very comfortable, true to size and I love the color (cranberry).

Want a perfect, classy boot that if properly taken care of will last a lifetime? Well, this is it! Sure the boots are pricey, but worth every single penny! I have a wide foot and wasn't sure the boots would fit me when ordered. After 2 wearings with bulky socks, I'm pleased to advise the boots fit me like a glove. Even though the boots are called "slouch", they don't slouch much. The leather is soft and absolutely beautiful. The style is perfect and the low heel is very comfortable. I love the boot so much I have it in black and this beautiful saddle color. I'm now set. Instead of purchasing a number of cheaper boots that will wear badly over the next 2 decades, I've invested in timeless boots that will last and last. I have yet to wear them without getting numerous compliments. Get smart. Get Frye boots. Thanks to Zappos for carrying Frye and providing immediate shipment!
