This boot is super cool. I get a lot of compliments on them. They are versatile. I read in previous reviews to get a half size up, but I did not follow advice. Glad I didn't. I usually wear an 8 in most brands and ordered and 8 and it fits perfectly. They are comfortable, no blisters, they are a little heavy though. Leather is of incredible quality. They can scuff easily in the toe area though, so be careful! I would buy another pair if I could afford to.

I was amazed at how perfectly they fit. I think they look great w skirts and dresses. I'm thinking of adding arch supports because I have a standing only job, otherwise they are soooo comfortable!

love these boots. i already had a pair of campus boots that i've worn probably 3-4 days a week for the past 2 years since i bought them, but thought i maybe needed something with a little hardware. when these first arrived, they felt a little weird; kinda snug in the toe area and loose in the heel. but i really liked the way they looked over a pair of jeans, so i just kept wearing them. the toe box issue has worked itself out, and the heel doesn't move around too much. i found that adding an insole with a little arch support helps, as does wearing two thin socks vs. one thick sock (which i do anyway, since apparently nobody makes thick socks in women's sizes anymore). the dark brown has a lovely, worn in sort of color variation.

I stalked these for a long time before purchasing and finally pulled the trigger when I got some Amex Rewards that I could use on Zappos. Though I am usually an 8, I had actually tried these in a 7.5 in person only because the store only had 7.5 and 8.5 and while 8.5 was too big, the 7.5 just fit w/ the thin sock I had on, and when I can get a 7.5 I do, as I think my feet already look big for my 5'3 height, and I also didn't want the shaft any bigger so figured the 7.5 would be better for me, so I ordered the 7.5 in Slate. I find them tough to get on w/ my jeans, only because I'm trying to get them on w/o my jeans riding up and it's not easy but once I accomplish this, I love them so much, and I get so many compliments from all demographics. My husband even loves them and launched into tales of his Frye boots and roller skates(?) from back in the day. Anyway, while the half size down generally works for me, at the end of the day, I feel pressure on the top of my foot, but no other discomfort and I think as I break these in this will subside entirely, I'd still recommend trying your true size first, esp. if you wear thick socks. Finally, Zappos is amazing, as we all know - I ordered these on a Thursday afternoon, thinking *maybe* I'd get 'em on Saturday, but somehow I rec'd them on Friday all the way down in Atlanat - thanks Zappos, I love you very very much!

Cute boots. I’ve been waiting for these to be in stock in my size for a long time. So worth the wait. I got my usual size as suggested. The fit is perfect. I think I could go down 1/2 size, but the toe box might be too narrow, especially if I want to wear thick socks with it. The shaft height falls right below my knee and I can "slouch" it a little bit so it falls even lower. Very feminine motorcycle boot. I would get these in another color if they ever went on sale!

Additional Brand Information

The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the United States. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Love these boots, of course - also worried about the money and am glad I went for it, as these are just so unique, versatile, long-lasting - I just wanted to send out some encouragement to those who’ve ordered these boots and had trouble breaking them in, and a heads-up to those who are thinking about ordering them! When I was looking for boots, I read a lot of reviews saying these fit like a charm the very first day, so (REALLY SILLY me). I wore them on a trip right out of the box, and within twenty minutes of walking, I developed some pretty bad blisters that even doubling up on socks would not relieve. I was really unhappy and discouraged, needless to say, but after wearing them for shorter distances with duct tape (works even better than bandaids) on my heels and bending the leather around the heel to speed up the process of breaking-in, I’m feeling a whole heck of a lot better about my long term relationship with these boots! They are slightly narrower and pointier than another pair of Fryes I own, the Engineer 12-r boots, and fit a little tightly because I have high arches, apparently. I usually wear between a 7 or 8, but I DEFINITELY wear an 8 in both my Fryes - once on, they are plenty roomy, but it’s a bit of a struggle getting the boots over my foot’s arch, and with even a 7.5… forget it! One last note - the boot’s color in the picture on this page is not really the same as in my boots. It may well vary boot to boot, but mine turned out to be less dramatically distressed, and more all-over lighter and silvery. Still a cool look though.

I bought these boots for my wife for Christmas and she will not take them off. She indicates they are the most comfortable pair she owns and is looking to get a similar pair in black. They seemed to be snug at the outset, but have stretched to be true to size. I can say they look great on her with jeans or a skirt. They are very adaptable for wear in casual to business casual situations.

These are the best casual boots I have ever bought. They are a great color, very soft leather, and are exceedingly comfortable. I do usually wear a 6.5, but had to return them for a smaller size - not an issue as customer service is terrific and it was free shipping both ways.

Beautiful casual leather boot. I have muscular calves and ankles so, needless to say, boots are hard for me to find but these fit me perfectly! They look great with skirts or pants and are so well made they will last for years. My feet feel great after wearing them all day long. I highly recommend them.

I got a pair of these boots for Christmas and have worn them almost every day since. They are very comfortable, warm when outside, and look totally awesome with skirts, jeans and dresses. I love them! I have a narrow foot with a somewhat higher arch, but they work well for me.

The Veronica Slouch is a great choice! I have had them for a little over a month now, and they are by far my favorite pair of boots! The quality is great, and even though they are on the pricier side for me, they were worth every penny! These aren't the kind of boots you wear for a year and they end up looking blah. These are the kind of boots that should last you a long time, if taken care of properly. I'm a university student so I do a lot of walking, and these shoes are super comfortable! Also, I have gotten tons of compliments, and girls inquiring about them. I purchased them in slate and they go great with leggings, skinny jeans, and even regular jeans can be tucked in there, too! My first pair of Frye boots ever, but I'm definitely going to purchase more!

Not as expected. I waited a long time for this boot to come back in stock. Only wearing Frye boots for years, I was totally unable to even try it on, the cut way too small/shaft too narrow. Someone in the company is slipping, perhaps the label should say American Made!

Love these boots! I ordered a pair in dark brown and instantly fell in love as soon as I opened the box; they are gorgeous! They fit true to size (7.5M). However, I would suggest that you wear bandaids on your heels for a few days while you are breaking them in, or you risk blisters. It took two days for me to break them in, but once broken in, they became the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. I have "average" calves, and didn't have any trouble tucking my jeans into them. They slouch a bit in the shaft, as the name implies, but not so much that they look sloppy. In sum: beautiful, well crafted, comfortable boots, and I plan on getting another pair soon.

I love these boots. Excellent quality. The heels are a little wide as others have stated, but not bothersome. They were very easy to break in. They run true to size and will stretch a little. Zappos is awesome. I originally ordered 1/2 size larger to accommodate heavy socks, but realized they were a little big and I knew they would stretch a little, so I sent them back and got my normal size. I had no problems with the exchange and I would definitely order from Zappos again.

I love these boots! When I first got them they were pretty uncomfortable (I ordered my exact size), but I had heard that Frye boots mold quickly to your foot. So, I wore them only inside the house the day I received them, in case I wanted to return them. By the end of the day they were nearly perfect for my foot. Now they are very comfortable and so cute.

These boots are great! My daughter bought a pair of these boots at a local shoe store and I was immediately jealous! I had to have them! I wear a size 11 and Zappos is one of the best places for me to find the size I need. I have a high arch and was worried that I wouldn't be able to get them on my feet. I had a little trouble at first but they do stretch a little. They are worth the effort because they are really comfortable to wear, I love them. I wear them with jeans, skirts and dresses. They go with everything.

I thought about buying these for almost two years and I'm so glad I finally did. First, they arrived the very next day. Zappos shipping is amazing. Second they fit great, very true to size. I was a little worried because they are slouch boots and I actually have somewhat of a narrow calf but they look terrific, so comfortable and go with so many different looks. They are super expensive but I'm wearing them at least twice a week already so they are actually quite cost effective in the long run.

These boots are luxurious! I was looking for a flat boot because my feet get tired in heels. I've never paid this much for boots in my life, but these boots are amazing! They are really well-made and very comfortable. I bought an 11 in Black, and am pretty sure they've been on my feet ever since they arrived. They look great with jeans and skirts, so versatile and stylish. I am getting lots of compliments. My feet are happy!

These are beautiful boots. They are well constructed and of excellent quality. They are perfect for fall or for winter in places that don't get much snow. I wouldn't wear these outside in winter in a place where salt is used on roads and sidewalks, because they are so pretty, and I wouldn't want to wreck them. I wish that Frye boots were made in the USA. At this price point, I feel like they ought to be. Other than that, great boots.
