Wow, beautiful boot. I couldn't decide which riding-style boot to get and this was my choice. Fantastic craftsmanship, and of course, Zappos came through with shipping that is almost unbelievable. The boot fit fine--true to size in the foot. I have slim calves and these fit well. However, I think the fit is almost too snug on the calf to look like a proper riding boot. Great if you want a slim, tight boot with no lumpy bulges. I think they are too tall (for me: 5'4") for a boot that is not meant to be over the knee.

Wow, beautiful boot. I couldn't decide which riding-style boot to get and this was my choice. Fantastic craftsmanship, and of course, Zappos came through with shipping that is almost unbelievable. I ordered on a Wednesday night around 8 pm and they were waiting at my door at 3 pm Thursday. How do they do it? But I digress. The boot fit fine- true to size in the foot. I have slim calves and these fit well, enough ease to put on a skinny jean or legging. However, I think the fit is almost too snug on the calf to look like a proper riding boot. Great if you want a slim, tight boot with no lumpy bulges. Even around the ankle is slim and sleek. Also, these are quite tall. They come up onto my kneecap and bend a bit as I move. I think they are too tall (for me: 5'4") for a boot that is not meant to be over the knee. Sigh, I am sending them back. The search continues.

These shoes are quite a bit more than I would like to spend on boots. However, they are so great I had to get them. I have been searching for flat black boots since last year. I have big feet and thin legs. Nothing fit me. These are wonderful. They are still a tiny bit big when I wear leggings but it's the best fit I will probably get. They are perfect for jeans. They look sleek, classy, and make me feel put together. I am 5'8" and these boots come to just below the knee. I find it the perfect height. I am so happy my search is over. I think the boots are beautiful. I'm not sure why they are so much more than some other Frye boots (the Paige, the Melissa) but at this point I don't care. Love these boots!

I was so happy to get home and try on my Frye boots. Even though they were more expensive than I would have wanted, I just knew they would finally be the pair. I was really disappointed when I took them out the box. They did not measure up to the price. They were also quite big for my normal size 10. Nice fit around calves but very loose around ankle. My journey for the perfect boot continues. Thank you Zappos for being the best company ever.

I generally have a hard time finding boots that fit over my calves so I was intrigued by the stretch panels and decided to give them a try. So glad I did, they slipped over beautifully and have a fantastic look. Nice upright shaft with stitched soles and very high quality leather. They do tend to run a bit large but I like to put insoles in my boots so that has turned out to be a good thing. I wear them over jeans and with skirts and dresses and every time I wear them I get lots of compliments.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These gorgeous boots arrived this afternoon. I ordered them last evening. Unbelievable! I love them...they are beautiful, and fit like a glove. They are nice and snug on my calf, where I usually have trouble with boots being too baggy. They are a bit tough to get on at first as there is no zipper, but I figure that they will stretch out somewhat. I love the sleek style....no buckles, zippers, doo-dads....just one small snap at the top in back to help you get them on. Very slim profile. My only concern is that there is a little part rubbing the top of my foot on the inside where there is a seam; I'm hoping this will soften up and I won't have an issue. I have my orthotics in them now with hose on, and they feel great. If you want a lovely boot, buy this one!

I jumped at the chance to purchase these boots once they went on sale. They are lovely. I normally wear an 8 1/2 but after reading the reviews I ordered them in an 8. The fit is great, my calves are 16" and these are a little snug but since the shaft of the boot stretches it works out just fine. I got them yesterday and wore them around the house to make sure they were okay and they passed the test. Excellent quality and the cognac color is so rich. I fretted about the price for a while but I am glad I got this boot. Very sleek style and they will last for years. Thanks to Zappos for their extra quick delivery! Happy Birthday to me!

Beautiful boot but the boot shaft is way too long! I guess Frye's just don't fit me. I pulled these on, and they hit my knee. Like in a way that's uncomfortable. When I sit, they pinch the back of my legs because they're so high. Also, they bunched at the ankles, again because they're too high. I've had this problem with other styles too. Wah! I really want to keep them but I think I'm finally giving up on Fryes.

These gorgeous boots are a keeper. Like many others who've reviewed it recently, I have been in a search for a good quality riding boot that fits well, stylish yet still sporty, and in a rich dark brown. Found 'em! Only reminder is order them a half size down. They are too "roomy" otherwise. I'm 5'4" and boot height is perfect and right below bottom of my knee cap. Cheers to Frye for still making high quality footwear.

Love these boots! I have been looking forever for a really nice boot that is flat (and not a cowboy boot) -- and I'm so happy I finally found it! These boots make my chunky calves look skinny thanks to the vertical panels. Super comfortable, reasonably priced, great quality, made in USA -- Thank you, Frye!

These are so beautiful! However, there is no tab to pull the boots off and on. That makes for a bit of a struggle. I will keep searching for the perfect boots at Zappos.

I've been searching for a equestrian inspired boot that was simple and sleek and this boot fits the bill. I love it so much because it doesn't look western. I usually wear an 8 1/2 or 9 and I ordered down and the 8 was perfect. The fit is tight on the calf which I like.

These are gorgeous! I spent forever researching riding boots, even ordered the Melissas and sent them back. I wanted a boot to hit right below the knee (check), look sleek and fit tightly up my calf (check), and look classic with amazing quality construction (check). I recommend these if that's what you're going for. Simply perfect and they are extremely comfortable. Perhaps a little long in the footbed in my normal size, but I love how they fit. It's always nice when boots have a little room. These can also be dressed up or down easily. The price is definitely scary but they're exactly what I wanted so I'm dealing with it!

These boots are gorgeous and fit my skinny calves perfectly. Zappos sent the wrong size, I called them, and they immediately shipped the correct size. Amazing customer service (thanks Rosita!). Definitely order a size down. I was actually able to squeeze my normally size 9.5 foot into a 6.5 (I just had to try them on even though they were the wrong size). And I have a normal to wide foot.

Well made boot, sturdy. I would like it better with less heel, but it is so hard to find a boot that fits a slim leg that overall I'm just delighted these fit. There is a nice tab at the back to pull them on, which adds a little interest and shape to the calf. They are a little uncomfortable at the front of the ankle where the seam is placed.

I loved the look of these boots when I viewed them online. I listened to the other feedback and ordered a half a size down, which was correct. I received them and have decided to return them for the following reasons: 1) I didn't think the no boot strap issue would be a problem (a few people had mentioned this in their reviews). Getting these boots on and off, though, was a nightmare. I was literally sweating trying to get my foot out of the boot. 2) There really didn't feel like there was going to be much give in the leather. Of course, I am sure they would soften somewhat after adequate wear, but getting there might have caused too much pain. They were so stiff, it literally hurt to walk in them. 3) I felt the seam that runs across the front of the shaft was really awkwardly placed and made them uncomfortable. I didn't really notice the seam when I was viewing them online but in person, I really didn't like the look. Oh well they weren't the perfect boot after all. I have to keep looking.

Stunning boots! Everything I was looking for (except for price!)! However, if you are not tall and have short legs like me, the boots come up all the way to my knees and don't feel comfortable when I walk, and also don't land in the right place and don't look right! They're perfect for a tall person with thin-thing calves! Beautifully made! Definitely run a full size larger. I always wear 8, and size 7 felt plenty roomy.

These boots are absolutely gorgeous! I have been searching for over a year for the 'perfect' riding boot. I found them! I always wear a 9.5 and I got these in 9.5. I had read they ran a little big, but I'm happy with the fit. I little extra room, but may put a liner in them anyway? I was afraid of not being able to get smaller ones on! They are a bit of a struggle at first, but no big deal. LOVE!
