Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These boots are amazing! Here are my stats: I'm 5'6 , wear size 8, and my calf has a 15.5" circumference. It's usually so frustrating to find boots that fit, as I have to go up a size and then it's too big in the foot. Hunter boots? Forget about it. So I was so excited when I found these. They're perfect. I can wear them with skinny jeans and they don't bulk up. They can be stiff at first, but get very comfortable quickly. Hope this helps!

I was going back and forth between these boots and the Jenna zip-ups (because of light color options and low heels). I loved these boots. I mean, genuine love (beautiful, works with everything, low heel, color is unique and style is cool). However, I couldn't try these lovelies on because I have high arches. I now know Frye slip-ons do not work for me because of these dang high arches. If they ever make these with a side zip...I'll be the first to purchase them! My best friend tried these on when I had them at home (low arches but still a great person!) and she said they were instantly comfortable.

I absolutely love these boots. I've had so much trouble finding boots that fit me because I have really wide athletic calves (17 inches around the widest part). I'd basically given up on finding tall boots that fit, but fell in love with these ones and figured I'd give them a shot (I heart Zappos shipping policy). I could actually get them on! They are a little big snug with my skinny jeans, but I'm assuming that the leather will stretch a tad as I wear them in. And with leggings or tights they feel just great. I'm normally a size 10, and my feet slip around a little, particularly in the heel area. I'm not sure it's a full half-size larger (I think the 9.5 might be too small for me), but it's definitely roomier than other Frye boots I've tried on. I bought them in Tan, although I was also really tempted by the Grey color. The tan is beautiful; it's sort of rustic looking and very unique. The color is lighter than most boots I've seen, though not quite as light as it looks in the photo. Fantastic boots, I'd definitely recommend them. If you have more slender calves (lucky!) though, you might be swimming in them a little.

I bought these January 2010 and had a love-hate-love relationship with them. I'm 5' tall, 120 lbs, with a 14.5" calf at the largest point. I usually wear a size 4 or 6 in clothes and a 6.5 or 7 shoe. I bought them in a 6.5 in black and they were beautiful from the start. The leather is like butter, there was absolutely no breaking in period and I loved them. But after a while I felt like they were too tall for my frame, they came right under my knees, and then the extra pieces of leather started to flare out making my legs look wider than they actually are. I took them to my shoe guy and he sewed the outer flaps down on the sides which definitely helped, but it didn't solve the problem of the shaft being too tall for me. Plus, I found I couldn't wear them with skinny jeans; I could only wear them over leggings or with tights & a skirt. Being so petite, I could only wear them with a relatively short skirt or else the proportions were all wrong. For the price I really wanted something I could use all the time. So began the hate part (sigh). Now it's November 2010 and I'm back to loving them. The leather has softened even more so they slouch just enough to bring the shaft down about an inch or 2 which is perfect for me. Plus, I can wear them for 13 hours straight without a problem. People have reported the soles are thin and they are, compared to my Campus 14G lug sole boots, but they've held up really well. Overall, I'm happy I kept them.

Very nice boot. Slim looking, beautiful leather, and a comfortable heel height. A little taller than the equally lovely Melissa Button (which created a boot muffin top on me). Paige was muffin top-free.

The most beautiful boots ever. AT FIRST they will be close to impossible to get on and off... but this goes away after a few wears. Very comfortable. You might have a few blisters, too, for the first few wears, but it gets better. So worth it.
