Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These boots are awesome! I was slow to get in on the boot trend that emerged last fall due to my skinny calves and short stature. I'm 5'2" and 95 pounds so a lot of boots are either too tall or the boot shaft circumference too large. Finding boots that fit your legs snugly can be a challenge for scrawny girls. The shaft of these boots ends approximately 1.5 inches below my knee and, due to the laces, the boot circumference can be adjusted to hug my bird-like legs. I am a size six and these boots fit me perfectly. The leather is thick, sturdy, shiny and such a beautiful color (i.e., I purchased the lighter brown color). The laces make the boots look totally badass. It's like a superhero boot got together with an equestrian boot and they had an awesome baby boot. These boots do scuff a little like other reviewers have mentioned, but a little clear polish remedies that. However, I think scuffs build a little character into the boot. They look awesome with everything I've worn them with and, despite the somewhat pricey nature of the boots, I have zero guilt. They are totally worth the price. These boots were made for kicking ass and will accompany me on many misadventures.

I was disappointed with these shoes. I noticed before wearing that the shoelace grommets were not properly seated on the inside of the shoe, and bits of extra leather lining were hanging out of them. After the first wearing the stitching on both tongues unraveled, and my boyfriend pointed out that one tongue was longer than the other - pretty bad if noticeable by a male. These boots cost so much so I expected that the workmanship would be excellent. It was very poor.

I searched a long time before I found these boots, and then I was in indecision over the price for even longer! When I finally ordered them I was quite pleased. Pro's: The leather these boots are made of is nice and thick, the fit for my foot was very comfortable and they took very little time to break in. I love the lace up aspect because I have large calves and it let me adjust the boot to fit perfectly. Cons: The finish of the leather makes it very easy to scratch and scuff; if that bothers you, then these probably aren't the boots for you - however I don't mind the vintage feel, and when I applied the Frye leather cream the scratches were greatly diminished. The laces on these boots aren't quite long enough for me. (but I have a 17" calf.) It seems to me like they ran a tad bit small (I usually wear a 6 to 7 and on these boots the 7 fit like a glove). Overall I really love these boots.

I absolutely love these. I hemmed and hawed over them for quite awhile because of the price. I wear my boots hard and after having several cheaper pairs fall apart on me, I decided it was time to spend a lot on a good pair and be done with it for awhile. The quality of these is fantastic. I am certain that I will have them for many years, and my guilt over the price disappeared the second they were on my feet. I think they run true to size, if a little narrow. If you have wider feet, I recommend sizing up. That said, I like that they fit tightly, because I know that they will still look great once I have broken them in. Now I need nicer clothes, because they make my dresses look cheap.

I bought these boots after a friend recommended them to me, we love to watch the show Once Upon A Time TV series and the main character wears these. Zappos ships really quick, first pair was defective the front boot where it laces didn't line up, Zappos overnighted a second pair, that too was defective - the stitching on the side was coming apart. I almost gave up but they sent me a third pair and this one was perfect. They fit a little snug on the sides for a few wears but then they mold nicely to your foot, perfect for those with skinny legs, look great with leggings. The leather is very soft and scuffs up easily but with leather conditioner they buff out easily.
I'd also recommend: BOC, Ugg,

I love this boot and have it in all three colors. Once laced properly according to your calf, they fit like a glove. They offer excellent support and can be worn all throughout the day with no discomfort. In my opinion, these boots run half a size big. As always I am over the moon with Zappos.
