I love these boots! The leather is beautiful and they are super comfortable. A bit stiff at first but easily broken in within one wear. I have average size calves and they fit perfectly over leggings or skinny jeans. I have several Frye boots and these run the same as the others as far as size. They keep their shape and don't slouch.

My new Frye Melissa Button Boots are my most comfortable shoes. I recently had a hip replaced and I feel unbalanced in any boot or shoe with a heel. So after searching for the perfect boot to replace my older riding boots, I purchased these. The first time I wore them, it was a 12 hour day and my feet felt great. I owe this purchase to my friend Victoria as she purchased them first. I searched for 3 weeks following Christmas to find these boots, thank goodness Zappos had them back in stock. They weren't the exact black I wanted, but I love them just the same. I am a Frye boot and shoe believer forever.

I know all of the reviews say Rrye boots are awesome/worth the money/ super comfy/blah, blah, blah! Even my own friend HIGHLY recommended them after buying her own pair. I am just crazy picky when it comes to comfort. Realistically, if shoes aren't super comfy, you just won't wear them, and for $318, I want to wear them everyday, all day. Let me tell you, I have been doing just that. No breaking-in required, these are the best boots I have EVER had. SO SO SO great. They do run big, I usually wear a 10 or 11, so I got a 10 and while it's a smidgen too long, I like it because I can wear socks + tights. They were very difficult to put on the first 2-3 times, like 15 mins of frustration difficult, but I don't have the slimmest calves around (I'd say average for someone who is 5'8"). But now they are great. And they aren't knee high for taller women. Mine would have to be 18 or 19 inches to be knee high, rather than 15. All in all, if you are thinking about it, GO FOR IT.

These boots deliver the goods. They're comfortable, they're chic, and they are beautifully constructed. I found that they were a tad snug at the very tippy top. The top edge of the boot has a binding that dips in a bit. That said, the boot doesn't chafe at all, and a bit of scrunching is fine too with such soft, quality leather. Worth the price!

The boots fit really great and are comfortable. I wear them all day and my feet feel fine! I can’t comment on arch support because I have flat feet, but these work well! I love FRYE. The color is not a true black, it’s more smoky... so keep that in mind, but it’s cool.

    About Frye

    of New Styles!

Add This Brand to My Favorites
The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These are great boots. They are so comfortable that I wear them for hours and do not realize I have knee high boots on. They are not slippery outside or inside because of the rubber on the heel and they stretch to your foot very quickly after wearing them the first time. They actually are warm, too, and I never wear socks under them. They look great over skinny jeans and are worth every penny. I rated the arch support as moderate, but I do not personally need this as my foot is high arched and this is not a consideration for me while it might be for others.

I am so happy with my new Frye boots. I already own a pair, and was so happy with them that I decided when I need a new pair of flat boots, this brand would be the way to go. Although pricey, they are worth every penny. Comfortable, stylish and very versatile. I went with the brushed natural color and love it...especially with spring coming up. They look adorable with skirts and dresses. I can't tell you how many compliments I get on these boots. When I wear them, I get 3-4 compliments at least. Most people comment on the gorgeous color and simple style. I am happy that I did my research and chose these beautiful boots. I had not a single regret in spending $300 plus on a pair of boots...to me, and everyone around me, they are fabulous and totally worth it!!! One last thing, I am petite (5"1) so they hit a little below the knee, which is perfect for me, but any taller and you might feel that the length would be a bit awkward if you have longer legs. I am usually a 6 1/2, but ordered a 6. They will feel a bit tight at first, but will stretch and end up fitting perfectly. Once broken in, Frye boot fit like a glove!

My Melissa Button Boots arrived today. I ordered light brown brush off. The color is gorgeous, the grey brush off over the brown leather gives them more of a vintage feel, although they are definitely very classy. These boots are timeless! They feel comfortable from the first wear. I am 5'7 and they are almost to my knees. I had no trouble pulling them on, in fact I have quite a bit of room. Can't wait to rock these babies with leggings, skinny jeans, or even with dresses. My huband thought they looked HOT! Thankyou again Zappos!

I've been wanting to get a pair of Frye boots for a long time, but I couldn't decide whether to get the Melissa, the Carson Tall, or the Jane, plus I was having trouble justifying the expense. When I got my income tax refund (thanks Uncle Sam!) I broke down and bought the Melissa Button in brown. They are beautiful, and look, feel, and wear like high-quality, classic boots. Comfortable, no trouble getting on or off my foot. The leather sole is slippery, but that's minor. I guess I'm the right height (5'3") for these boots because they hug my calf very well and come up about 3 inches below my knees. I'm still figuring out what clothes look best with these boots, I think the button tabs make my legs look a little stumpy but I'll get over it because these boots are otherwise gorgeous.

These boots are beautiful. But, order a 1/2 size down to be sure. I am a seven and am exchanging them for the 6.5. The light caramel color is so pretty and you can wear them all year round. As always, Zappos and its staff are hands down the best. Thanks Zappos. I never shop in shoe stores anymore. They have everything and the staff rocks.

These boots rock. I\'ve wanted a pair of boots in this particular color for years and these jumped out at me. I have honestly never paid so much for a pair of shoes of any kind, but these are worth it! Super comfortable and once you wear them a few times the leather becomes very soft and almost pliable. They look super hot with skinny jeans or skirts. You can\'t go wrong with Frye quality and these will not disappoint.

I absolutely love these boots! I shopped around online for a long time and heavily debated spending so much money on a pair of boots. I justified it by saying that I will wear them for a long long time and that these boots would be worth it, and let me tell you they are! I wear a 6.5 or 7 and decided to go with the 7 since they are pull on. They were a little difficult to get on at first but they stretch out a little after a few wears. I absolutely love them and find myself trying to limit the amount I wear them! I highly recommend!

I've been wanting a new pair of boots forever and I've always liked Frye's styles. They do run probably half a size bigger and they're more narrow than I thought they'd be. They are also slightly loose in the ankle. Despite the fact that these boots probably are slightly too tall for me, I kept them. They are quality boots, leather and make. Color and style are great, you can wear them with jeans and skirts. I'm about 5'2 and the boots don't look funny on me but they would look perfect if they were 1/2 an inch shorter. Shorter people can still pull them off. You really can't beat the quality.

I really love these boots. This is my first pair of Frye boots, and I will definitely get another pair (after a good period of saving, of course). They look so classy and so much nicer than any other pair of boots I've had, and I can tell they'll age well. A few people have commented that the boot hits at a lower than expected height. I noticed this too, but my husband said he really liked where they hit. I think they look a bit cowboy-influenced. One note, I ordered the dark brown, and the color was lighter than I expected.

These boots are amazing! I had to replace a pair that my dog chewed up and had been eying these for a while. Finally decided to bite the bullet and buy these and they are worth every penny. They're a little tricky to get on the first couple of times, but they are easily the most comfortable boots I've ever owned (my previous favorites were a pair of UGG leather boots that are no longer available anywhere in my size) and they provide a lot of support. My calves are average size and I was still able to get my jeans tucked into the boots with a little bit of room to spare.Combined with Zappos' amazing service (I bought the pair, then noticed they went on-sale in a different color for a little cheaper and the Customer Service Rep on the chat client exchanged them and upgraded my shipping) I am super pleased with this purchase.

    Brands I'd also recommend: Ugg

These boots are easily the best purchase I have ever made. I was a little hesitant to spend so much money on a pair of boots, but I am so glad I did. I wear them everywhere. They're great for work under my dress pants and I wear them out over my jeans or with a cute dress. Also, the compliments I get on them aren't too bad either. I am definitely planning on buying another pair in a darker color in the very near future (mine are Natural Brush Off).

Oh, but is this a pretty color boot (natural brush off). I have a substantial calf but this boot works. I will not be able to tuck in my jeans, but it is darling with skirts and tho somewhat boxy it shapes my calf well. Am now on the hunt for a cowboy Frye boot and will only consider Zappos and they make it so easy!

They are fabulous. It did take three tries to get the correct size. I read other reviews and ordered one size smaller. I usually wear a 9.5 but ordered a 9. Unfortunately because they are pull on, I just could not get them on. I reordered a 9.5, then one foot felt larger than the other. I was determined to have these boots, so I ordered them one more time. Like they say, "3 times the charm." They are perfect and I can't wait for the weather to change.
