Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I have four pair of Frye shoes/boots. I think these are the most comfortable ones. Great construction and they look better in person. I wasn't so sure when I ordered them but since you can return hassle free(thanks zappos) I gave them a shot. They are pretty low key but unique in their style since they are like a leather chuck taylor.

This is a very comfortable shoe right out of the box. I hesitated about the style at first, but my wife told me they look great. After wearing them out just once, I came to agree with her assessment completely. It feels a bit wide, so I wear a thick sock; a tad more breathability is all I would ask for.

I bought these for my husband who is a teacher. He loves them! They look great with casual dress pants and jeans. He says they are the most comfortable shoes he has ever owned and that's a lot coming from someone who is on their feet all day!

Great shoes! Feel really well made and fit great once I went half a size smaller. Stiff at first but I'm slowly breaking them in, the sign of a well made shoe. The sole under my toes feels a little flimsy, but the rest is solid and stylish.

I saw these on Zappos at a good price and picked them up. A classier version of the classic converse. Unlike canvas, the leather takes a bit of breaking in before it's comfortable. It only took a few wearings, though. The shoes look good and are dressy enough for work and comfortable enough for the weekend. Fryes are at least a half size larger then indicated, so order down a bit.
