I totally love these boots! I got them in the taupe, size 8. I usually wear an 8 in boots, 7.5 in backless shoes and the 8 fits well enough, but there is some slippage in the heel. I will order the 7.5 to compare. I have a bit of a wide foot and did not find them to be too narrow. My calf circumference is 14.5 and these fit just right; I should be able to wear them with jeans tucked in, no problem. The color is gorgeous and will go with so many things. They look great cuffed and extended and have a bit of a slouchy look. I have to say these boots are very sexy!

These boots are gorgeous! They look great with jeans, leggings, skirts, dresses, and they are hot. I love how there is a bit of a heel so you can actually walk. I am a 7, but I bought the 6.5 and glad I downsized; they fit perfect. Get loads of compliments.

I am writing this from Australia. I bought this boot in black from another website. This is my first Frye and for the first time I realized that the reason why Frye has such a great fan following. It is because it makes boot for a real woman not for models just to be admired in picture. I am hooked on the boots like drugs. Now I will have to have the beige to satisfy my cravings.

The boot is beautiful, my 4th pair of Frye- after reading the reviews which all said they boot was roomy, I was surprised when I struggled to get the boot on for the first 2 times, but since then it has loosened up and slides right on- they have fantastic support, and I too think I will be wearing them every single day! The taupe is a really earthy and unique color- already gotten so many compliments!

I am HUGE fan of all things FRYE! These boots are truly beautiful and I love them! I originally bought them in Taupe- gorgeous, and just ordered them in black. The calf is roomy which I need. I don’t love them folded over at the top, but I love them scrunched down, which looks great and not TOO slouchy. My one, small concern is about the sole (only on the Taupe)of the boot - not quite what I am used to as far as Frye quality goes, but all of my other experiences with Frye have been outstanding! I HIGHLY recommend these boots and I LOVE them!

Add This Brand to My Favorites
The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I am absolutely ecstatic about this boot. I usually wear a size 9 and I ordered a size 9, and it fits perfectly. If you're going to wear thick socks, maybe order a half size up. The leather is beautiful and just the right thickness. The boot itself has a flattering style/cut and it looks so nice with tights. Love it!

I CANNOT believe no one else had this problem: I could not even come close to getting these on my feet. I have never had this problem. I'm a perfect size 6. I have average calves, average everything, but I couldn't even try these on. Guess it's just me?

These are definitely my best all time pair of boots. High quality, comfortable, stylish. They just go with everything and can go anywhere. Liked them so much I got another pair in black to go along with these which are in taupe. As usual Zappos is the best in terms of selection, service, and quality.

I have 3 pairs of Frye boots and 4 pairs of Frye sandals and I can't get enough of them. Frye has excellent quality and Zappos is sooo easy to order with! These boots are simply GORGEOUS! I have the Taupe; I am a true size 9, I ordered a size 9 and these fit perfectly. Some Frye's I wear are an 8-1/2 but not these. The Taupe color is beautiful. I am 5 ft. 9 and the boots come right to my knee. Sooo cool looking. The quality is obvious: very expensive looking and a color that would go with everything! You will not be disappointed. I debated over the cost, but when you get them you see why they are a little pricey.

One word: ohmygawd! These boots are fantastic, extraordinary, and wonderful, dreamt-of-but-could-never-find boots. You must get them. Sell all your other boots because you'll never wear any others ever again. Ever. I am a big fan of all things Frye. But because of my half-ogre genealogy (standing at 5'10" with a 36" inseam) I've always had to stick to the shorter boots because the "knee" boots always stopped a good 5-6 inches from my knee. I have been searching for years for a decent pair of knee-high boots and my search is now satisfied. Uncuffed these boots are the perfect height for "knee" length boots just skimming the bottom of my knee cap. The leather quality is great. I got the taupe and it's quite versatile, but I'm seriously considering getting the brown as well. These are once in a life-time boots. I am in love.

Didn't know you could be so in love with a pair of boots! These boots are beautiful! I love the versatility of them. You can wear them tall, folded over, and also you can scrunch them down. The color is beautiful and the leather feels like butter! I purchased the taupe and it goes well with anything! These boots are expensive, but worth every penny! These boots you will be able to have for years! Compliments left and right when I wear them and they fit true to size. I am a 9 and the 9 fit like a glove! I love Frye boots!

I love these boots. I wear an 8.5 and these fit true to size for me. They are perfect with a pair of skinny jeans. I am 5'2 and they fit just under my knee, almost to the point of rubbing, but not quite. The taupe color is a great neutral. I do not like them folded down but they do slouch a bit and that I like. They were comfortable on day and one, straight from the box, and get even more so everyday. I was balking at the price, but so glad I splurged. I expect to write another review 10 years from now on these same boots, still loving them.

I generally wear a 6.5, but the Frye shoe chart says a Frye 6.5 is an actual 6.2, and a 7 is an actual 6.8, so I opted to go a tad bigger, since the 6.5 fit like a glove, but left no room for a thin sock. They fit perfect! Very sexy, feminine, rugged, cool boot. Love them! My daughter wears a 7, so I got her 7.5, since in Frye boot size, it is really a 7.2. Their math is weird, but works. Can' t wait for Fall. Got the taupe, so versatile.

I received these beautiful boots less than 24 hours from ordering them. Just wow. Rah rah Zappos! I was wavering between the Taylor and these and am so glad I got these. For the price they are a high quality and gorgeous boot. Not technically over the knee, but if you look at specs the Taylor shaft is only .5 inch taller than this baby and uncuffed the Jane covers about half my knee cap. And these have a taller heel than Taylor! What's not to love? I am a 7.5 and got the same. Fits just fine. Only problem is it took a minute to get em on. Without pull tabs I had to wrestle to get my feet in. I was able to do it by sliding them as far on as possible and then squatting and leaning forward to get a bend in the sturdy top leather. From other reviews and from my past Frye purchases (too many to count) I know they will stretch and mold to my feet. I am very happy with these boots and I just love Zappos customer service. I don't buy shoes anywhere else.

These boots are absolute perfection! I received them today and wore them immediately. They fit me perfectly (true to size) and they are magnificent looking. I bought them in the slate color, a beautiful, weathered brownish grey. The heel height is just right. High enough to give lift without being too high to walk in forever. This was the most expensive pair of shoes/boots I have ever purchased, by far, but also the best. These are the boots I have been looking for, and now I found them! Thanks Zappos, for making me very happy with my purchase!

I am happy to review these boots, I absolutely recommend them without hesitation; being my second pair of Frye boots, and many lesser-quality boots, I can honestly say these boots are worth every cent of the price. They are true to size; I am a 7.5 and the boot went on like a glove in spite of being zipperless. It boasts both elegance and substance. However; I would be remiss if I don't add that I was truly disappointed in the Frye Company, like so many others who've sold out and taken the final assembly of their product to Mexico to gain deeper pockets. I actually had high hopes after all the blog about the "Americana" history of Frye Boots that these would have been truly Made in the USA. Sadly, they aren't; so, if you can get beyond that, then these are amazing boots, I have no other regrets with making this purchase, and pleased I won't see myself coming in them by lots others who have the same boots as mine! Zappos, thanks for free, fast overnight shipping, & perfect customer service, that I've come to expect.

Love these! As soon as I put them on they were comfortable, gorgeous, sexy, incredible! Was torn between the taupe and the dark brown, ordered both and decided the brown would be the most universal for my wardrobe. Wanted some taller boots this year and these are perfect; I'm 5'9" and these boots come up to mid knee, like them uncuffed. Excellent fit through the calf. I'll wear these boots year 'round with everything. They look great with short skirts, ruffle dresses, jeans. I'm so crazy about my Fryes a girlfriend suggested I name them so they can really be one of the family. So welcome to my closet Butch & Sundance! Thanks Zappos, for the always excellent service.

These boots are perfection. I usually wear a 9.5, but ordered up to size 10 in order to have a bit of room for heavier socks. The calf circumference is listed as 15.5", but I would call it a generous 15.5” and you can certainly have them stretched a bit if the size of your calves is a concern. I'm 5'7", and the boots hit me right at the knee when they're uncuffed. The leather is gorgeous, and the construction is classic quality Frye. The heel is the perfect height - you can wear these all day. The toe box is roomy and comfortable. Despite the lack of pull loops, they slide on easily. There is nothing to not love about these boots! I keep coming back to Frye, even though they're expensive, because they're worth every penny.

Wow. This boot is ridiculously priced. The leather is very nice, but beyond that, it's an okay boot. I have a very average foot. Not fat, not wide and not narrow size 8. I could not get it on with even the thinnest sock. After 10 minutes of trying to pull it on I finally went out & got a pair of footy nylons and (clean) grippy garden gloves. It took me 15 more minutes of tugging, pulling and shoving, I finally got my heel past the hard heel cup. Yay! It's on! But it fits sloppy and loose with the nylons. It would be perfect with nice socks on, but that's not happening. This is not an over-the-knee boot. It comes to mid-knee, so when you wear it with a shorter skirt they stop in a very unflattering height, making your legs look kind of stubby. I wish I would've had the same experience as most of the other women did. They are very cowboy boot-ish looking.
