These are my third pair of Frye boots and I can't say enough about them. I have a Neuroma in one foot and can't wear shoes that don't have thick soles. These shoes are the perfect solution for my feet. I've been wearing these everyday with skirts. I receive at least one compliment a day. What more can you ask for? These shoes are cool, comfortable, and will get you compliments.

Take it from me; Chocolate Vintage is the way to go with this boot. This latest leather treatment from Frye is deconstructed glam at its best! A serious pair of hardcore kicks that play great against more fem tunics and leggings. Not to mention straight jeans. These are going to be a lot of fun!

These boots rock! They are so comfortable and run true to size pretty much. I wear an 8 to an 8.5 depending and an 8 is perfect in these boots. I always get tons of compliments when I wear them!

I can't believe I waited so long to buy these boots! I purchased the tan and they are really beautiful; the leather is slightly distressed and will only get better with age. I normally order a half-size smaller in the Frye Campus and did the same with the Harness. The Harness is not quite as roomy through the toe as the Campus, but I am still glad I went down 1/2 size. They are comfortable with just the right amount of heel slippage. If you will be wearing thicker socks (I live in a warm climate so I won't be), you might want to try them in your normal size. As always, I am pleased with Frye's quality, truly a very good value for your money. With proper care and occasional resoling, these will last a lifetime.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These boots have it all. They are comfortable and look fabulous. I get at least one to two compliments everytime I wear them. They do take a bit of time to break in but each time I wear them they feel better and better. My only advise is that they do run large. I usually wear a 7 1/2 or 8. I originally ordered these in a 7 1/2 but had to exchange for a size 7. Zappos service with this was awesome.

absolutely brilliant boot. harness 15R is sexy, edgy, stylish, rugged, durable... you name it and this boot has it. size does run 1/2 to full size larger than actual foot size. i always order down a half size at first, zappos is amazing at making sure customer is happy and will do what it takes to find the correct fit. i have long legs, the harness 12R is also a favorite boot but now that frye makes this in 15R, i would without a doubt order this fly boot.

I bought these for my daughter for her birthday, they ran a little on the large side so we returned them it was so easy and ordered the correct size. She loves them, gets loads of compliments and can't believe that she waited so long to get them. We talked about it last year. They are just right to wear with jeans and for chasing after her two sons. Thank you Zappos, you rock!

These boots are beautiful! Fit like a dream, do run larger than expected. They look great on, tried to wear them but they are just too heavy for me. But wow! What a statement! The chocolate vintage is fantastic.

I'd been lusting over the boots since I first saw them so my husband bought them for me in vintage chocolate as an early Christmas present. I ordered the 8.5 initially and was very disappointed; they were huge and incredibly uncomfortable. But I liked the style so much that I wasn't going to give up there, so I ordered a size down, the 8. Zappos exchanged them immediately and I received them the next day. Awesome! Well, the size 8 is perfect, so make sure you order a half size down from your usual. They are very high quality, as you'd expect for the price. The leather is pretty hard, which made me wonder if I was going to keep them, but my husband convinced me that a pair of boots like these needs some serious breaking in. So I have been wearing them a lot on short outings and they're already feeling better after just a few short trips. The toe area is a little narrow for me, but it's starting to stretch and the heel slipped quite a lot initially, but that's also getting better, too. They're 'roughty toughty' enough to wear on a daily basis without worrying too much about scratches and scuffs, but can be dressed up with a skirt, too. I love them and expect them to be with me for many many years! I shall stop babbling now, just go and buy them!

Yahoo! Finally found the boots that are going to work for me. Passed them over initially because of the calf width listed in product description. However, as some options didn't pan out, I started trying more styles. Tried 4 pairs of this boot, all size 10. Each pair fit differently, with most being too big. Pair I'm keeping fits good through the foot with a bit of heel slippage. Shaft height is perfect for my 5'9" height, and calf width works for my 15" + calves! Did not like the tan color. Actual product darker than what was pictured on screen and had the distressed look. Black is smooth, beautiful leather. Boot seems very well made.

Great, well made boot. I bet these boots will last a life time. Frye has used the best leather and this Harness boot looks awesome on. Definitely runs big, I ordered a size down. Might be a problem for women with big calves, especially if wanting to tuck in jeans etc., as boot shaft runs on the slim side. I also have the Carmen Harness Short boot which I totally love too. You can’t go wrong with Frye. Zappos service and delivery can’t be beat either.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these boots. I ordered my regular size 9. I heard than ran large, but was concerned about the fit around my larger calves. They are a little big (nothing thick socks don’t fix), but fit my calves perfectly. I really didn’t experience any "breaking in" time... felt great from the first time I wore them. Looking forward to getting the 12R Harness maybe brown this time.

I LOVE THESE BOOTS! They run typical Frye sizing, about 1/2 size larger (so order 1/2 size smaller). I have high arches so they were a bit hard to maneuver on at first. The solution to that problem was an extra long shoe horn! I cannot wear these boots enough. Right out of the box they fit perfectly! I wear them for hours at a time and they are so very comfortable! You MUST get a pair. Oh and did I mention the many compliments I get when I wear them?! ENJOY!

This winter, I have been looking for a pair of edgy, tall black boots that could be worn over skinny jeans or with leggings and a skirt, as well as with bootcut jeans. I fell upon these tall Frye boots and was immediately taken with the square toe and buckle. Before I purchased these boots, I read dozens of positive reviews, and like most of the reviewers before me, I am completely pleased with them. I am 5'11 and the shaft makes it 3/4 up my calf. The circumference is a good, snug fit, but not tight on my 15" calf. They fit nicely over skinny jeans. The leather is very durable and supple, and I can wear them in all kinds of weather without worrying about being careful. The shaft has a bit of a stove-pipe shape, but seems to be softening as I break them in. The boots are on the heavy side, weighing in more than some of my dressier boots. I think the weight is consistent with their tougher look. They pull on easily with strong straps at the top of the shaft, but it takes a little effort to get them off. There are some reviews that say they run large; I usually wear 9 1/2 to 10 with light socks. I ordered them in 9 1/2, and they fit comfortably out of the box. Love them.

Amazing boots. I'm a standard size 8 (always an 8 in boots). Read reviews about ordering 1/2 size down - perfect. Got these bad boys in 7.5 and I couldn't be happier. Definitely the 8 would've been too big, even wearing socks. I was hesitant on the opening circumference as my calves happen to have substance to them (and not the skin/bone calves seen on most LA women). I would say they're a little less than 14" around - and these boots were perfect still. I was easily able to put them on and take them off and even with skinny jeans tucked into them they're not super snug. So here are the measurements I took (to the best of my ability) since they aren't posted: heel to edge of toe - 10.5 in; opening circumference - 14.5in. Hope this helps because I know how the debate goes when you're spending this much on boots!

These are a great pair of boots! Vanity sizing maybe? I am usually a 9.5 - 10 in women's so I had to go through a few pairs to get to the right size, which ended up being an 8.5 (so they run a little large, about a 1/2 to one size). I ordered the tan in 9 which was too big and the tan in 8.5 was on back order, so I paid the difference and exchanged them for the Chocolate Vintage and I must say they are GORGEOUS! Such a unique color way and well worth the extra money; and of course no two pairs are identical so buyer beware with sizing and look of the boots, not even two pairs of the same color and size are completely the same, which makes these boots so unique. They are also very comfortable. I've been wanting a pair for a VERY long time and I can't believe I ordered them right before summer, but I do live in LA, so I'm sure I'll get the weather to wear them. Today perhaps? BTW Zappos was great when I had to exchange my sizes a couple of times, the reps are also very friendly and knowledgeable about their products!

It took me a year to find the perfect boot, and these are perfect for me. I like my boots to fit snug around the calves. I have 14.5 inch calves, and I probably can squeeze leggings or skinny jeans in them. If I can't, it doesn't matter, because these are my skirt jeans. They look awesome with skirts and dresses. These boots have the high quality leather that Frye's normally provide and I love the aged look. BTW, I got the tan. I don't think there will be a break-in period with these. I've worn them all day around the house and they've been very comfy. I normally wear a 9 to 9.5 med and got the 8.5 med. The fit is perfect. I can't wait for fall to wear these bad boys. Thank you Zappos for putting up with my zillion returns, and providing topnotch customer service.
