Firstly, I'd like to say if everything was run by Zappos it would be a perfect world. Secondly, these are the coolest boots I've ever owned! (And I've owned a lot of boots!) I got a half size smaller than usual and they didn't work with socks, but I really don't like to wear socks so they are just perfect without them. I love you Zappos!

I have several Frye boots, but these are the most comfortable I have ever owned! There is cushioning in the forefoot, and the heel is just right. The distressed leather not only looks great, but it is soft and comfortable. I can wear these all day!

I didn't like these boots at first glance because the black bottoms seemed like too big of a contrast with the light brown leather. I also found them very hard to get on my feet (and my feet are sort of narrow). I put them in the box and decided to try again the next day. When I tried them on again, a friend stopped by and suggested I give them another chance. Turns out, I actually could get them on; and, they also happened to match perfectly with the black and tan outfit I was wearing at the time. So, I kept them on that day and I've been wearing them ever since. I like how the buckle at the top side is adjustable so I can make them less baggy around the ankles. I am a huge cowboy boot fan and I am enjoying this new style for me this fall.

Burnt red distressed leather, comfortable and made in the U.S.A. These are the perfect boots. At first, I thought the price was rather high, but once I saw the quality and put them on my feet it was obvious these boots will last a very long time. Quality costs, and I'm OK with that.

    About Frye

    of New Styles!

Add This Brand to My Favorites
The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

First off - Love this boot! Got this in Sand, nice light tan coloring. Took me a few tries to get the right fit. I usually fit in a 8.5 or 9 in most cases except the occasional 8. First ordered the 8.5 took a lot of work get on, where the 9 still took some work but not as much. Thought it was the better choice to go with the 9. Now that I have had them on outside several times very happy with my choice. Look great, feel good, and the leather smells so nice. Already started to save up for the next pair I want to buy. Want to try out the Engineer 12 R W in black or maybe gaucho.

I know this might sound silly, but I just don't know how I've lived for so long without these boots. My sister has had hers for 3+ years and the only thing she's had to do is replace the heels. I tend to be a shoe destroyer and these boots are standing up to my abuse admirably. They are very comfortable, great for biking in, and though they may be a bit heavy for some wearers I don't mind the weight at all. My only complaint is that they don't make a 10 , which is often my size. I'm a 10 in comfort shoes like Born or Clarks, so I tried a 10 in these, but it was just too small. I had to size up to the 11. Which is fine, because they'll fit sheepskin inserts for the winter. Overall, love love love these boots.

I have had my pair of Gaucho 8R Frye's for about six years now and they are my absolute favorite and preferred footwear. I love the style and attitude these boots give me. I feel tough in these boots. When I first got them the area under the strap felt too tight but loosened after the leather stretched a bit. I had them reheeled once and was pained to be without them while they were in the shop. I preferred to have a bit more arch support than they had and put 3/4 insoles in them. Recently the lower buckle snapped in half and the stitching on the sole was becoming exposed so I knew their time was limited. They also got so beat up because they got so much wear due to my preference to wear them over all my other shoes. Today I got a pair of Smoke 12R and am hoping they do as well as the Gaucho 8R did for me all these years. I love these boots!

I am disappointed. I love the look, love the brand, love the materials. But it still looked like I was wearing my husband's boots, or a little boy is wearing his daddy's grown-up boots. They did not look right with regular jeans, or skinny jeans, or a dress. And I usually like the rugged tough look; I am not a girly-girl. Also, the feet move a lot when walking; I could only imagine the blisters to come if I kept them. Unless you have very wide feet, then these may be just what you are looking for. Oh, I really wanted them to work for me.

Very cute and well made. As a mostly 9.5-10 I tried sizing up based on reviews but found the 10 a little to sloppy, especially in the right foot. Will try again down half a size.

I absolutely love this boot! I was looking for a casual boot but also one that wouldn't make my feet sore. I'm on my feet a lot for work and I'm used to wearing supportive and comfortable shoes. These are so comfortable, when I get home I don't change into athletic shoes to walk to dog, these are that supportive & comfortable that I wear them to walk to the dog 1-2 miles. My left foot is a bit wider and I wore these about 4-6 hours to break them in (got a tiny blister) but it was worth it because they fit perfectly now! They are also very stylish, I get lots of compliments and they are constructed very well. I have no doubt I will have these for 10+yrs. Hard to find a good leather boot that isn't lined and this was very much worth the price!

I love these boots! They are very well made. The leather is substantial yet supple. They took no time at all to break in. I love the style, and prefer the 8" height of these boots to the similar 12" style. This particular style and color combination was hard to find in bricks-and-mortar stores near me, so I ordered online and have been completely happy with them.

My Frye Engineers are so ugly...they're cute. I love them. I am very petite, so they look rough and rugged on me and are the perfect antidote to tiny and sweet. I am normally a 7 in shoes but find these fit me best in a 7.5. I slip them on with my skinny jeans and am ready to take on the world.

Love them. I've bought 2 pairs of Frye boots within 7 days. My first pair (12R/Black) I purchased at a retail store to get sizing right. Glad I did, to avoid sizing issues for my second pair (8R/Sand). I think I prefer the 12R than 8R. Salivating for for my 3rd pair in the color Gaucho. Quality & craftsmanship is excellent!

Frye are great boots. They are well made and stylish. I would order a 1/2 size up for wide feet, narrower feet should order their true size or 1/2 size smaller. I have this color Sand, and I've been strategically waiting to rock these puppies for the summer. It's an unexpected color to give you that firm statement of understated style & moxie. Look out.

Due to being a plus-size gal with wide feet, I thought I could never rock a pair of Frye's - such great boots, but the talls ones had such a small circumference. Not with the Engineer! Yes, they were snug at first (I usually wear a wide 9, but since they don't come in wide I opted for a 9.5). I wore them a lot and had them stretched at a shoe shop. They now fit perfectly after a week of owning them and I couldn't be happier. Amazingly, after a day of wearing them to stores and to a concert (standing for 2 hours), when I got home and kicked the boots off, my feet didn't hurt! No blisters, nothing. Quite impressive, I must say. I also know that these boots will last forever as my bff has at least 3 pairs she has worn the crap out of for 10 years. I highly recommend these boots!
