Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I love these boots. They feel good and they look great. Every time I wear them I get tons of compliments. I am 63, so these would be good for any age! My 29 year old and 39 year old daughters want a pair.

Cutest boots I've ever owned. These boots are worth every bit of the price as they feel like an old friend the minute you slip them onto your feet. The boots look like they were worn for a couple of years by working cowboys (in a good way) as the leather is already full of character. If you want an eclectic, sleek little boot with personality, then Frye's Deborah Studded is your "huckleberry"!

I first saw these boots on the Neiman Marcus website and thought they had a very cool but different look from all the Fall/Winter trend of studs and grommets attached to everything. I had to have my sister receive them in Austin and my daughter bring them over to me in France while on winter break from college. They do not disappoint for beautiful leather or quality or fit. The zipper slides great, so that kink has probably been worked out in more recent production. I read all the reviews and very happily slid into an 8.5. I have a wide foot and would normally need a 9. I have already bought beautiful Old Gringo boots in my true size but have to wear with knee highs because the foot is so slim. For extra warmth, sole softness and a little snugger fit I have added a wool insert. They fit perfectly. So far I've only worn them with skinny jeans but intend to wear with tights and a floaty dress (if at 47 I can get away with that look!).
I'd also recommend: Old Gringo, Corral

I love these boots! They're beautiful, comfortable, and well made. The gray leather has a sort of warm, worn look. I don't even put them in the closet. I leave them out in the living room or bedroom because they're so beautiful to look at -- like a piece of art. I will probably add orthotics to get more arch support, but that's typical for me as I have high arches. But really they've been very comfortable right from the first wearing.

I absolutley love these boots. I have never pent this much on shoes. They are so cute that when I wear them everyone notices them! I am a size 7 and the 7 was fine. mMy feet are wide and I have a high instep so sizing down was not good for me. I did try the 6½ as well.
