Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

This shoe is comfortable and looks great! I do wish that the top of the shoe covered of my toes a little more. It's kind of low cut at the toe area (at least on my feet). I also ordered the Miranda ankle and they were extremely narrow. Unbearable even if you wear a B width. Impossible is you are a wide. I'm sending them back and will get another Carson.
I'd also recommend: Cole Haan, Softt

I REALLY LIKE this shoe! Very classy. But, I'm not able to keep it because it's too long and the heel is a little too stout for me to walk comfortably. I am generally true to an 8.5, with a thin (relatively narrow) medium-width foot with a high arch. I walk heal to toe, and wear a lot of platform shoes for dress. If this shoe fit, I think it'd be a fine walker, but as is, I was walking out of it with each step. Someone mentioned the low-cut toe... it is, you can see the spaces between your toes, but to me this adds a classy, feminine touch to the look. (I had originally wanted the Frye Miranda mary-jane style, but was scared-away by the reviews... however, I think the strap across the top might help keep me in the shoe because the narrow toe box probably won't allow me to go a size smaller.)

I have been lusting for these shoes for several months, and finally decided to purchase them. They are pricey, but definitely worth every penny - I was so happy when I received them and put them on. They're stylish, comfortable, beautifully made and just plain gorgeous! Full disclosure - I had originally planned to buy these on Amazon, but a bad experience with a carrier they use (Prestige Carriers - they are horrible), made me decide to buy from Zappos instead. I mean, free shipping? Free returns? Yes! I am so glad that I did, because I ordered these shoes on Wednesday afternoon and received them on Thursday afternoon. Wow! That is service! I am now a loyal Zappos fan and will definitely be coming back to buy other items as I need them. All in all, a great experience and a great pair of shoes!

I really love these shoes. I bought the grey, which is a great neutral. It looks more brown in the online photo than it is. However, the color works whether I am wearing black, brown or blue. They truly seem to go with everything because the color is not flat, there is some graining in the leather that really helps it meld with whatever I am wearing. I love the rounded toe and the sturdy heel. I really wanted the height, but the heel keeps me stable. I do find there is nice cushioning with these, so can wear them all day long. I am eyeing the burgundy because I feel like these are such a go to style that is timeless (I've tried the pointy toe trend in the past, but it just doesn't work for me).

Beautiful, quality shoe but felt a bit on the casual side to me with the finish of the leather. Also, there was almost NO arch support in this shoe which I noticed within a moment of putting them on. Not sure my feet could last the work day in them.
