I have flat feet, bunions, and wear inserts for cushioning and arch support. Other than that, I have normal width. I do need shoes that do not squeeze the ball of my foot. I am only reporting on the fit right out of the box. I loved these! I won't wear them every day, but the slight heel helps my arch and I will not wear my inserts with these. There is some cushioning in heel and ball of shoe, they are not tight across the ball. The toes of the boot curve up off the floor, so they do not break across the top when you walk. Some may find this odd, I find it comfy. Love the smoke color - goes with browns, greens, tans - very nice neutral, and gives them a more professional look. My heels do not slide - mine are somewhat narrow.

These shoes are absolutely fantastic. I've always wanted a pair of Oxfords but I've never found a pair that was the right mix of Hester Prynne and Marc Jacobs. These fall right in that sweet spot design-wise. And they are super-comfortable. The toe-box feels a tad long, but that doesn't bother me and the cushioning on the sole is nicely padded. I cannot wait for fall!

This shoe is amazing. I've gotten so many compliments! It does run a bit large. I normally wear a 9 and the 8.5 fit well.

When I first saw the shoe I was afraid that it may be too narrow for my somewhat wide feet, however when I put them on they felt wonderful. So far I've walked in them enough to think that they won't cause any discomfort and I really like the padding on the heel and ball portions. They feel true to size and are truly one of the most beautiful pairs I've owned. My only complaint is the bottom of the shoe is somewhat slippery with only part of the heel having rubber to keep me from slipping. I suppose after some more wear the sole will become more abrasive and prevent slipping, only time will tell. I am very pleased with this purchase and it was worth every penny for a pair that will probably last a very long time.

Stylish & comfortable! I got the dark brown, and it is just beautiful leather and overall well made. Runs a tiny bit narrow - I am usually medium width, and I think it will be fine, but if you are on the wide-side, this might be narrow for you. I haven't worn them outside yet, but I've been wearing them around the house all evening and they are just getting more and more comfortable. Finally a sharp, sophisticated oxford! And, I've been looking a while.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I absolutely love them. The quality is great, they are comfortable and look fantastic! The smoke color is perfect. I may add a little extra arch support, otherwise they feel great.

Leave it to Frye to create the perfect stylish and timeless oxford. I chose the cognac color. Gorgeous! This shoe is comfortable out of the box, and will only get better. This is my fourth pair of Frye shoes/boots. Worth every penny. Will last forever! Thanks to Zappos for the great customer service, too!

Wow! I adore these! They just arrived in the mail and they were all I was expecting and more. They are the perfect oxford. Unlike some oxfords, these look like men's shoes scaled down for the female foot. Many oxfords are bulky and too large for a woman's foot. I love the fit. They're very comfortable right out of the box. I usually wear a 7 in shoes but have 6.5's and 7's in Fryes and I took these in a 7. I think they run a tiny bit long, but I wouldn't want to go down a half size because I'd worry that because of the tapered toe of the shoe, it might crunch my toes-- especially with socks. I cannot wait to wear these this fall/winter and for a long time to come. I may even be back for another color. They're pricey, but since I've searched and searched for the perfect oxford to no avail until now, I think it might be worth the investment to have 2 pairs. You really cannot go wrong with these!

These are beautiful shoes well crafted. They will last years. Comfortable from the first day I wore them. I receive many compliments because they are an unusually stylish oxford. I wear them with jeans, skirts and dresses. They are very versatile and I highly recommend them.

Perfect oxford for fall. I was a bit hesitant because of the price but these are very nice shoes and good quality, great style, comfortable. Also thanks Zappos for upgrading my shipping, I ordered in the morning and got the shoes the very next day. At first I was a little underwhelmed, I think still stuck on the price, but I am wearing them today and like them more each minute. This shoe has presence and is sturdy without being clunky. The 1 1/4 inch heel is comfortable and gives them a sort of easy, thrown together glamor. They are cool and understated and go with most dresses, skirts, pants. They make me think of fall bike rides and cobblestone streets and prim school girls. Definitely the nicest oxfords I've seen, I will buy a second pair when they go on sale.

Love this shoe! There must be a lot of us looking for the "perfect oxford", because I have had trouble finding it as well. But my search is over. These are styled beautifully and are comfortable. I think the little bit of heel and curved toe are part of the unique styling that make this one better than any other I have tried or looked at. Expensive, but these are exactly what I have been looking for so I actually bought two. Crazy for me, but when you only buy a few quality things and those things are hard to find- well!

They are very high quality, but too narrow across the ball of the foot. Also, a little long in the toe box, even though I ordered a half size down.

The toe is long and curves up, so these look kinda like clown shoes. Comfy, though.

Love these shoes - got them in the fawn color. They are classic and understated, perfect for fall. They DEFINITELY run at least a half size large (I wear a 9 in everything, and the 8.5 fits well). Super comfortable, though the bottoms are extremely slick and pretty impractical for riding a bike to work this morning. Feet just slid off the pedals.

Love this shoe and love Zappos. I tried 6 different oxfords, and these are comfortable from day one and feel like they will last forever. Bought a half size smaller based on the reviews. The bottoms are slick, even for walking. I'm hoping by wearing them on concrete they will not be slippery at work.

I read the previous reviews that this shoe is a little long in the toe box so I tried both an 8 1/2 (which I typically wear) and an 8. I chose the 8 as it felt more comfortable (snug) and didn't feel "odd" (long in the toe). I'm very glad I went down a half size for this shoe. Also, since the shoe is leather, I'm sure it will "give" a little after wearing it and not feel too sloppy.

Love these oxfords! I wear 8.5 or 9 and have a slightly wide foot. In Frye I always wear 8.5, but not this time. The 8 fits perfectly. The 8.5 actually had that clown look, since they were too big and the toe curls up. But when I sized down a half size, they looked feminine and amazing. Bought the fawn color and it is a perfect neutral and the color makes the style show to advantage. The toe box is cushioned well, but no arch support. Very comfortable!

Very nice leather and not too narrow in the toe area. Kind of a Western take on the Oxford due to the cowboy boot heel. Really high quality, softer feel leather (not boot leather); will last a long time. Wooden sole so it's not cushioned. I added an insert.
