Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I am a Frye addict and these boots do not disappoint! Gorgeous and ridiculously cool, these add a whole new twist to the classic Campus style. The second I saw these I knew I had to own them and, of course, Zappos saw to it that I had them in my possession in less than 48 hours.

I have a wide calf and foot and was pleasantly surprised to find that the laces could be done up quite closely without an unattractive gap. The heel area feels a bit stiff, as the back of my foot brushes up against the leather, but hopefully will loosen up a bit. Very stylish.

True to form. Frye combines both style and comfort again. I have been waiting for this style to come back (had them in the 70's as a kid), and these do not disappoint! They make any outfit look better and broke in very quickly. I haven't taken them off since I got them and may order another color. Fit starts out feeling a bit snug, but loosens up quickly, feeling true to size. If wearing with heavy socks, order a half size up maybe.

Beautifully made boots. Look like they would last a lifetime. Unfortunately for me, it appears that Frye and my feet are not a match. This is the 2nd pair I've tried that just don't fit right. These would, however, be great for ladies (like me) with larger calves...they fit my 17 inch calves with room to spare.

I have the banac and saddle colors in size 8.5 with both pair fitting very differently. The banac leather is stiffer, with less flexibility during walking. I have to wear 2 pairs of socks and still get blisters. The saddle leather is perfect, I have walked in these boots for miles without any problems. I own over 300 pairs of boots, 20 of which are Frye brand. The Frye Campus Lug Lace in saddle is the one I wear when I travel.
