I am a dancer and hope to clarify some fitting questions about these lovely shoes. They are built like a literal ballet slipper, meant to wear like a little leather sock, but in this case the sole is rubber instead of suede, and the whole shoe is made to withstand more than a few rehearsals. The stretching and toe bumps are the result of the shoe's ability to conform precisely to your foot and the way you move, very like a dancer's shoe. The break-in time happens quickly in these shoes because a dance shoe needs to be usable right away, and the less it keeps its shape and takes on yours, the better. If you are narrow-footed, get your true size. I have long, narrow slippers that run between a 9½ and 10½ (with a half-size difference from one foot to the other), and am frankly astounded by the perfect fit of size 10 after only a day or so of wear. I have three pairs and wear them everywhere, including onstage. It is hard to choose, but my white naplaks are my favorites and I like patent leather that feels like it has been broken-in better than your favorite sneakers. They can take a little more wet weather, too. I live in my Sloops and now suffer less from awful foot cramps because my foot is not fighting a shoe when I walk. These are made to become uniquely yours as you wear them. I would not trade mine for anything!

I love my new flats! I waited 2 months before Zappos had them in stock, because I felt they were worth the wait! They totally were! I love how soft and comfortable the shoe feels on my foot. I get compliments on them all the time at work. I am typically a size 7.5 and I ended up getting a size 8 as was suggested by other customers. Take heed to this advice, the 8 fit like a glove. I love my shoes!

I like the way they look, work great with jeans, skirts and some work pants. There is very little cushion though. They will work great when I am wearing boots into work and needs something to slip into once I get there that is dressier.

Beyond comfortable... I love flats but it's surprisingly hard to find ones that are truly easy on your feet. These ran true-to-size for me, and I have somewhat wide feet. The interior is super soft and I feel like I'm walking around in socks all day. I'm in love!

I love these. They broke in completely after the first 2 wears, I believe (and there were places to break in -- they just adapt really well). They're higher in the back than most of my flats, and between that and the complete toe coverage, stay put exceptionally well. The toe has ample room, so no crowding in there. The sole is thin, but thick enough to walk on even cobbles (you'll be aware you're walking on cobbles, but not painfully so). If you're wearing them on a cold day, though, the cold will penetrate eventually. I bought my usual size in these, and I have no regrets. I've been wearing them for about 2 months now, pretty often, and I can't say they've noticeably stretched at all. When these wear out (which won't be anytime soon), I'll replace them with an identical pair. Great flats.

About French Sole
The design of the shoes is what makes French Sole stand out from the plethora of companies that have sought to emulate their formula for success. Only French Sole combines a true ballerina fit (each shoe molds to the wearer's foot) for the ultimate in comfort with cutting edge fashion and a selection that is unmatched – qualities that clients come to expect and appreciate from French Sole Shoes. But aside from the myriad variety of ballet and other shoes available, it's the people behind French Sole that have really made it a success.
French Sole Shoes is owned by Randy Ochart, who has passionately focused on designing, manufacturing and marketing the hottest ballet flats in the world from Spain, Italy, France and Brazil. When asked about the future of ballerinas as a category, Ochart explained, "In a phase when it seems that everybody feels the need to re-invent the ballerina, we stand alone as specialists. The extraordinary factories we have worked with for so many years understand the distinction between a ballerina and a flat shoe with a string attached." The fit, look, and hand of a ballerina is what French Sole is about, not just a hot trend.

I ordered these ballet flats to wear with leggings and tunics, and they are really cute. I have other shoes in this brand, and it is one of the most reasonably priced brand of shoes made in Italy. The only problem with these shoes is that there is no arch support, and they could use more cushioning. I put an insole pad in them, and they're fine. They also tend to run about a half-size smaller than I normally wear.

Had to return this because everyone said by a half size larger, so I did and though one felt sort of okay, I could tell they would stretch, so I would just buy your size. They look beautiful and are really soft and comfy even though I haven't worn them all day, but I wanted to warn people about the sizing.

These shoes are adorable. Although true to size (I'm a 7), the right one was considerably tighter than the left, and the 7.5 would have been too big for my left foot,so I just wore them around the house with thick gym socks to stretch 'em out. Now they're perfect, and I get lots of compliments!

My red suede Sloops just arrived and I think they are the cutest shoes that I have ever owned! In fact, I have a crush on them. This might be the beginning of a new romance. I wear a size 7 so I ordered a 7½ and they fit perfectly. I love them. I love Zappos.

This is the cutest little flat shoe ever! I received the leopard print today and want this shoe in every color! I am between a 6.5 and 7. I ordered the 6.5 and it is pretty snug, but I think the shoe will stretch and don't want it to look sloppy, so I'll keep these and work on them a bit. You may want to consider ordering a half size up. These shoes defy cuteness...flattering, well made - love them!

I love the French Sole Sloop. One size larger. Always. They are what they are, so if you want or need support' look elsewhere. If you want an elegant little flat that looks expensive, then this is your shoe.

I searched all over for a simple black suede flat, this style is perfect! I usually take a 9 or 9 1/2 but this ran small. I'd love to order it in a fun color as well.

I am a true 7 B. The French Soles Co. advised a 1/2 size bigger. I bought a size 8 and put in a gel insole with arch support. That fits perfectly. I can wear them all day in comfort. They are stylish beautiful shoes. Just order one size up and add your own internal support. I will be ordering many more. Very simple and sophisticated.

My first pair wore so well, that the inside was an embarrassment. I now wear them when I work in the garden. These shoes are stylish, fit like a glove, wear like iron, and make a woman feel cute! Buy a pair. You'll love them!

This is a very cute shoe. It has surprisingly soft padding. It ran small. I will exchange for larger size.

This was my first pair of FS. Probably won't be my last either. This leather feels like butda! The construction is A1, top notch. The width was spot on. These shoes do fit loosely around the toes. I'm pretty sure you want this for comfort. I wear a 7 to a 7.5, and the 8 was perfect for me. I tried the 7.5, but I had to exchange for the 8. Of course Zappos was wicked awesome about the exchange- as always. I'm super happy I got them.

This is the most comfortable flat I've ever found! It doesn't rub in any weird places, and I can walk forever in these; however, I will switch off putting a insert in the bottom if I'm walking long distances. Normally I wear a 7.5 and purchased an 8.5 M in black suede.

I adore these flats! They are very cute and very comfortable. I ordered a half size up based on some other reviews but really didn't need to. But with some cushioned insoles added in, they fit fine. I had a slight bit of rubbing on my heel the first time I wore them, but after that they've been very comfortable. I will mention that red suede is not the easiest thing to keep clean!
