This backpack is fairly spacious, but it is much taller than I originally anticipated. I'm only 5'0" and it would bump the back of my neck when I walked. If I were taller, it would be perfect! Returning for a smaller bag.

It's a great bag. The handles seem a little on the long side, but their length makes carrying it in your fist, over your shoulder, much more comfortable than usual. I do realize their length is actually meant for people who want to wear it like a backpack (which I never will). I do wish they made full-on shoulder straps as an accessory (so I can sling it across my chest), as trying to hunt one down that matches the bag is kind of a pain, but the comfort of using the handles mollifies that enough that I'm not going to notch it down for that. As an aside, the search for a shoulder strap has been kind of a revelation, as in there doesn't appear to be many companies filling that need beyond a whole lot of cheap nylon straps or ritzy looking leather straps. My search continues. I'm also glad I got the "Large" version. It's always hard to gauge how big a bag is until you see it in person-even with the video Zappos has, but the "Large" is definitely in line with what I view a duffel/carry-on/weekend bag should be. Mine is the dark grey, which is pretty much spot on with the picture shown on the website. It came already showing "weathering" from the straps/folding, which I consider a plus (waxed canvas kind of lends itself to that look), but if you don't want a bag that's going to show that type of stuff, then you may want to stay away. Finally, I love the big ring they put on the main zipper. Wish they'd done the same thing for the zipper on the outside side pocket. Both zippers are "hidden" within a fold, making the ring a great thing for practicality. I'm guessing they choose against the ring on the side pocket for aesthetics, which is a small shame. I looped a leather cord through the side zipper, bought for a few bucks off Amazon. I'd probably give it a 4.5 stars if Zappos did halves.

I got this bag in black. Because of the material it attracts dirt/salt/dust and appear visible if you buy it in a dark color. But it's really easy to keep clean, just wipe it down with a wet wipe or cloth. I have 15 in' retina macbook pro and with a sleeve over it, it still fits perfectly inside the laptop compartment. I LOVE the padded straps. They are super comfortable. Even when my backpack is fully loaded with a notebook, binder, textbook and macbook. The extra support from the padded straps helps a ton. It doesn't feel like it's about to give out on me. The shape of the bag feels nice on my back, like very sturdy and not slouchy. The front pocket is the perfect size for miscellaneous items. I use it for my keys, wallet and extra pens. The side pockets are a decent size. They are big enough to fit a small umbrella or a 16 oz plastic water bottle. The top straps are nice for when you want to give your back a break. Overall i'm really satisfied with this bag and plan to buy another one in a smaller size and different color to use for going out and not school.

This is a really nice bag. Well designed and a good size for the gym or a weekend trip. The only problem is with the zippers. They don't work smoothly and one of the side zippers came undone. I couldn't fix it and plunked down $35 at the shoemaker to have it fixed. I should have returned it but just wanted to get it over with. I would recommend it but beware of the zippers!

I've had Fjallraven packs before and am a fan of the g1000 fabric. It starts off fairly water resistant from the factory and can be made moreso by using some sort of wax product. Despite the waterproofing though, it doesn't scream "technical gear." This bag in particular is "cute" and sometimes gets compliments from strangers. It's on the smaller, compact side which works well for daily work things and short day hikes.

Very nice, though I'm returning it because I prefer the Foldover by the same company. I'm going with that one because of a couple of features in this one. The leather straps are big and overtake my small stature, even though the bag itself is a perfect size for a small person. Also, I really wish the straps were padded. The construction is very high quality. A 15" MacBook Pro fits perfectly inside, but there's no bottom padding for when you set the back down on the floor. There is, however, a padded piece on the inside that can pad a laptop or, as the tag says, be used as a cushion. It's a nice touch.

At 5'4", most backpacks are too big for me. This one is perfect and lightweight. It's much nicer in person than it appears in the video and the dark grey is like the picture. The fabric is super soft and the construction is quality. The laptop space is padded against your back and on the bottom. There aren't lots of compartments or pockets - everything is simplistic in design. While it has a slim profile, there's plenty of room for a book, a scarf, a water bottle (there's no sleeve for it though), keys, a tablet, wallet, cosmetic case, etc. Some have mentioned the hooks as tricky...um, they're just hooks. Maybe they've changed the design or something, but what's on my backpack a toddler could figure out. It is quick and easy, yet secure. It is true that the flap covers the outer pocket so that you have to unhook it, but it's easy and I don't foresee this as an issue. I thought it might bother me when I ordered it, but it's a non-issue for me. The straps are padded and comfortable on my small frame. It's elegant while still being functional and multipurpose. I can wear it while maintaining my dignity and still looking like an adult, yet it is still wearable with fashionable clothes. I had never heard of this brand before but I'm really pleased I gave them a try.

After looking for a while, I found this bag and thought "this is it" it was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but so far totally worth it. It's a good size, holds enough to make it for a long weekend, but doesn't along me to over pack. It's nice to carry, the strap or the handles. It seems to be super durable and something I can travel with and have for a while. I like the navy, it's dark enough to put down and not worry about stains and goes with most things (before I had a bright bag that clashed with everything possible). The outside zipper pockets are a great feature, to put those things you forgot to pack or need quicker assess too.

Very cute, stylish backpack that is more comfortable and feels lighter than any other pack I've had. Fits all the necessities. I keep my laptop in there, although it's technically not for a laptop. Seems pretty durable. Wore it while traveling and to work/school. Only thing I wish for is more pockets inside, and bigger outside side pockets to fit larger water bottles.

Totally in love with this bag. I'm very petite (4'10) and wanted a backpack I could use for commuting in Boston without being confused for a high school or college student. This bag is really well made, lightweight but still big enough to carry all my daily essentials (13 inch MacBook, notebook/journal, winter hat + gloves, etc.). My concern before purchase was that I'd miss having side zipper pockets for easy/quick access to things like my wallet, which I had with my Osprey bag. However, the front pocket is really easy to access for those items you don't want to have to open up the larger compartment for, and the two side pockets are big enough to fit a standard umbrella and a 1 liter water bottle. The front pockets are covered by the top of the bag when everything is closed up too, so you don't have to worry about anything falling out if you do keep your wallet or other valuable items in there. The only negative I've found so far is that the inside zipper pocket that's attached at the top tends to get in the way when you're rummaging through the main compartment. Other than that this bag is really great and a really nice option for the working woman who wants something classy but still functional for the daily commute.

The gear duffel is an undeniably stylish and rugged bag. Excellent stitching and construction. The metal components and strong and well designed except for the grip ring on the main zipper. It doesn't rest correctly inside the zipper carriage most of the time. A very insignificant flaw but for a person with OCD about fasteners it does get me a bit. I would recommend not getting the black color. You lose a lot of the nice details of the bag and every little hair or bit of grime shows up and is very noticeable. I use this for my day to day gym bag and my weekend bag for small business trips. I wish it was just a tiny bit bigger for both purposes but it handles very well when moving through an airport. So maybe just pack one less shirt and you'll be fine. It rides a little rough. The strap is nice and wide and I appreciate the lack of a pad on the strap. I understand that would make it more comfortable but they are just so ugly. Despite a few fairly superficial flaws I would say this is an excellent bag and I would highly recommend it. Just make sure you are aware of the dimensions first.

I am very happy with the bag; it totally met my expectations of quality. I was looking for something that will serve predominantly as a weekend bag and also as a gym bag; the #4L does remarkably well as the weekend/short trip bag whereby it might be slightly large for every day use.

Have been looking for a card holder to just corral those random business/loyalty/membership cards that has over taken my wallet but I still find I need from time to time - this little case holds them all and I suspect then some - the only downside is it's an expensive card case! - but it's actually worth it and is exactly what I have been looking for.

This is the best bag I have ever owned. The burnt orange color is beautiful, the fabric is durable and well constructed. There are just the right number of pockets. I bought this when I returned to college as an adult and it's the perfect size for my textbooks and few notebooks. Couldn't be happier with this purchase!

I am a male and purchased this duffel bag for general use. The bag itself is of top quailty, however it looks exactly like a ladies handbag. I ordered in black yet when on my arm it just looks like I'm holding an over sized ladies bag. I think it's because of the handles which are longer than usual giving it a purse look instead of a duffel look.

Bought this bad for my wife to replace her diaper bag. I personally didn't think it would hold all the "Stuff" she felt she needed daily. I was wrong! Small bag with tons of space! Also great zipper opening to keep things organized and easy in one big opening.

Don't buy this bag. Or at least buy a different color. I got this bag three times and each one I received had white stains and what looked like water damage on it. What a complete waste of a cool product.

I ordered the Duffel Bag #4 Large in Uncle Blue for my girlfriend. She will be going in for knee surgery soon. She just loves the bag, but I was wondering, is it waterproof? Is there somewhere on the bag where she can put a luggage ID tag? Thank you.

I got this bag in black; I like black everything. The leather straps are essential since they'll wear down to comfort unlike woven nylon which is always scratchy. The main compartment is high volume and holds a week's scraps. The zipper and the pull are key, and this bag came with the best plastic zipper I've seen. I love this bag and I can't wait to live the hell out of it.
