Where the classic 1460 style was being used by mailmen, union workers, and factory workers, it soon became popular among the masses. The 1460 continues to thrive, symbolizing individualism, originality, and taps into a individual's unique style who's willing to make that bold statement.
Dr. Martens doesn't think of itself as a "shoe" brand, but rather a way of thinking, a self-expression if you must. Popularly known as Doc Martens, they allow you to feel free to rock your grunge shorts, spike up your hair to the heavens, show off your body art, whatever floats your boat. So whether you call them Dr. Martens, Doc Martens or just Docs there are no limits to your creativity.

I bought these, really wary and unsure of whether or not it was a good idea without trying them on first. It was a gamble, but it was worth it! The sizing for Docs has always been funny for me. For almost every other shoe I wear, I'm a 9 across the board. For Docs, I'm an 8. If I had chosen a half-size larger, it would be way too big. But an 8 was perfect. It only took about 4-5 uses for me to break them in and be comfy in them. They look great, hit at midcalf just like I wanted (any higher and it's too much effort to lace, any lower and it's not high enough to wear with skirts the way I wanted). They look great; people ask me about them all the time, I couldn't be happier!

Surprisingly disappointing - I loved the photos of this boot on Zappos, but when they came in the mail, the sole was chunkier than it appeared in the pictures, and the fit was much wider, too. The leather was so hard that it squeaked like crazy as I took my first steps in them (a problem which could surely be fixed with a week or two of wearing-in). Anyway, I'm a woman who likes a good clunky boot, but these were simply too bulky to work with my knee-length skirts. I returned them.

Great boots! These were a bit tough to begin with, but so are most new shoes. It takes a bit to lace these, but I love the look and feel.

I remember stomping around in these through my whole high school career. These, a pair of leggings and baggy flannel. Ahhhh, thank God it's back! I would purchase a whole size smaller than you're used to. I even wear orthodics and a whole size smaller fits them and my feet comfortably.

This is my first purchase with Zappos. I thought all the other reviews were fake because they sounded way too good. You can rest easy, my fellow shopper, that they are not. Zappos seriously sent these huge bulky shoes to me in less than 4 days! And they fit wonderfully. They do run slightly small (as in, I usually wear 9 and I wear size 8 for these shoes), but they are surprisingly not heavy at all. It is a pain to lace them up, but I think I'll get used to that. I didn't like the patent shiny leather that Docs are famous for, but this material is less shiny and looks less cheesy, which I really love. :) So I am in love with these shoes, especially because I go to a crap load of music festivals and have to trudge around in the mud. Thanks so much! Good luck!

Boot looks great, and I bought it because of all of the great reviews--there are so many styles to choose from. But it looks like it is nearly a size too big.
