I have trouble finding the right fit with shoes so I was hesitant about not being able to try on the shoe before buying but Zappos made it totally painless. I loved the style but not the fit on one pair, returned it for free, loved the next pair and kept. My husband purchased Doc Martens but since the sizes are different in UK we did a painless exchange and received the new pair before sending back the other pair!

Zappos again came to the rescue. My son with the size 14 foot wanted a pair of Dr. Martens; good luck finding them in the stores. Zappos had a great selection, fantastic shipping, and everyone is happy. I recently visited Vans headquarters in California, surprisingly they recommend I order my sons size 14 from Zappos. They told me Zappos has a better selection in size 14 than their own Vans stores. Way to go Zappos, keep up the great customer service, you have a lifetime customer.

Can't beat a good Dr. Marten boot. I have 6 pair of Doc's that I have purchased since 1995. They are all still going strong and by far the most comfortable boot made. Thank you Zappos for providing such a high quality boot at a comparable price. FYI: Was at Dillards the following day after I ordered these, and I paid less through Zappos.

My first pair of Doc's! Took me about a half day to break in. These are the most comfortable pair of leather boots I have ever had. Zappos had them delivered within 2 days. I will purchase another pair of Doc's and get them through Zappos. A really good experience all around. Thanks!

The best -
Docs are the best. They don't have to be broken in. They are broke in when you put them on the first time. These are stiff boots. If you work them like a new baseball mit they will be fine. Zappos are the best.

The classic -
This was my first pair of Docs, and although they're taking a while to break in (my ankles, I fear, may never fully recover) I still absolutely love them. The first time I wore them was in a blizzard and except for the whole not broken in thing, they did very, very well. They're a little big, but it's my fault for buying a half size bigger than I needed. So, in conclusion, these shoes are absolutely amazing for crappy weather and they're pretty versatile. I'm not really "punk" or "goth" or anything like that, and they still go with pretty much anything.

These are probably the best fitting shoes I have ever owned, and I would definately buy them again, although I don't really know how long that will be since my friend has a pair that are five years old and still look great! :)

Dr. Martens 1490 Series -
I love these boots. They are the third pair I have owned. The previous two pair lasted about 4-5 years each. I was delighted to find a source for them as they are not commonly stocked in local shoe stores.

Punk to Goth - in between & outside -
From Mod, to Punk, to Goth and everything in-between and outside (in the mainstream), Dr. Martens are my foot attire of choice. I've been wearing them for years. Dr. Martens can be stiff and tough to break-in, but once the leathers conform to your foot, they fit like a glove and with proper care, will last for years. The Air Wair sole is amazing and must be worn to believe the comfort. Once they do wear out, simply replace the sole with a new one. Thanks to England for giving Dr. Martens the chance to develop a revolutionary comfortable sole and upper that has become truely iconic.

My First Pair of Docs -
I'm 27 now...all of my friends wore docs back in high school, and loved them...its later for me, but I needed a pair of motorcycle boots, and one of my friends suggested these...The truth is that they are really not that hard on the feet at first. I'm sure after break in they will feel even better. I've had them for 4 days now, and have worn them almost every day. No blisters...and I'm used to wearing Vans (the most comfortable shoe in the world.) My feet are a little wide and the docs fit perfectly... I wear a US size 11-11.5 and the Doc 10's fit nicely. I recommend these boots, and would buy them all over again. They have a classic look that does not go out of style...as they have been around for over 40 years now.

I always wanted a pair of docs, and when I finally got them, I wasn't let down at all, they are great shoes, the only problem was that at first they are a little tough to break in, but once you do they are really comfy! Zappos was also really fast with shipping...I got them the next day! Bottom line, a great pair of shoes!!

This is my thrid pair or Doc's in about 25 years of every day wear.My last pair made it about 13 yrs and I would expect this pair to at least that many. I should have gotten these a sixe bigger , as they are exact , but given time and break in , these will fit like a glove.

Very nice boots, good look took a while to get used to. Only bad thing is they are hard leather and don't stretch too much and they rubbed my heel but other than that they are great.

These boots are awesome! Top mark craftsmanship that is typical of all Docs... These aren't just the originals with an extra 2 eyelets... The 1490's are mean and tough... takes a bit longer to break these in but worth the effort...a little uncomfortable to wear at first because the leather is really strong and thick but once broken in these are ready for some serious stomping. I usually wear a UK 10 in docs but with these I had to go up a size to UK 11
Zappos is the absolutely best place to buy from.. every time I've ordered I've gotten my order 1 day later...

Zappos is the best!
It's true, Doc's are not held to the quality they used to be, but still a great boot. Hint - hammer the back of the boots (cover with a rag) to soften them before wearing. It really cuts down on "break-in" time. Zappos is the best place I have ever shopped on-line!!
