Amazing. I live in these boots. I walk every day from school and back 2 miles in these boots they are really comfortable. I wear them winter, summer, day in and day out. I've run from cops, jumped walls, walked 20 miles. I truly love my docs. They are the only shoes I own. And the only ones I need.

I loved doc martens originally, till the overseas thing. The first of the new breed I got was from Thailand or Taiwan. They were great. They fit amazingly and the leather broke in beautifully. The Chinese one are about to put me off doc martens though. They don't fit as well. Can't really say too big or too small yet. Two pairs, one too big and one too small. Both us11's. The only consistency is that the leather loves to crack instead of crease.

These appear to be very good boots. I wore them around the house for a day or so and they quickly broke in just by wearing them. I found, though, that the upper between the toes and the laces was too low for my foot. It was quite tight on top. Now I noticed as I broke them in that this was going away, but I like plenty of room for an insole and maybe a thick winter sock. Anyway, I found the identical boot (essentially) with just a larger toe box, the 1919. Zappos sent the 1919 out no problem (overnight, no less) so I could try them out side by side and the 1919 seems to be just the boot for me. (This was my first experience with Zappos and it was a great one. Amazing service!) I was worried that the steel toe in the 1919 might be too heavy but I don't notice much if any difference. And I suppose the protection is an added bonus. These Docs are truly Classic!

I bought these after a long decision process that lasted months, actually. I've never bought Dr. Martens and I've never bought boots in general, so I was nervous about everything, but I had to have these! They embody classic punk style and if that's what you re into they are essential! Of course they're just the perfect boot and covered by any pant would be subtle and acceptable to wear all the time. They shine great with oil; just as shiny as the Dr. Martens made with patent leather, I bet. They are ultra comfortable to the point of not wanting to take them off because lacing them up is very time consuming. They don't come in half sizes so I got a half size up (a 12) and they fit perfect. I'd recommend getting a half size up if you wear a half size. These are just the perfect boot if you re borderline. Just get them and you'll grow to love them with each passing day. The quality is definitely worth the price.

Boots arrived less than 24 hours after ordering - now that is awesome. Read the reviews on DM1490 first, so I knew what to expect. Also browsed owner reviews on external sites and learned that there are Thai-made DMs and of course Chinese-made DMs. My pair happen to be the latter. Opened the box, laced them up, put them on and went to work. Shift lasted 8+ hours and was on my feet during 90% of that time. Only slight discomfort in the toe box, but I have wide feet. Otherwise these are an excellent fit, perfect height (10-eye), and pretty good bouncy sole. I suggest discarding the plasticky insole and replacing them with better Dr Scholl's or similar for better comfort.

A classic and timeless no-nonsense boot. Five stars all around. Fits a little large if you're a half-size, so get your boot socks ready.
