What can I say, it's Made in America, and the craftsmanship was top notch! Can't say yet for the comfort as I'm still trying to break these shoes in; it does fit true to size and was pretty snug for EE width, especially near the metatarsal area. Other than that I'm pretty happy with the purchase, it does feel it would last a long time.

Been wearing these for a week now and love more every day. Harder to break in than the Chinese version but seems that's due to a better leather. I like to put polish on my boots and these take polish much better than the Quarry 3.0 I have worn in the past. I miss the padded ankle of the 3.0 but overall these seem to be a better boot by far.

Everything on the internet says size down a half size, I didn't, but you should. There is a slight slip in the heel (which will probably go away with break in) and room to move my foot side to side. If that bothers you, size down a half size, probably. There is no sort of arch support, the boot actually seems to be made with very little support so that you can put in your own arch and cushion/ liner, which is what I did. I don't feel there is a huge break in period, minus the slight slip in the heel, which I expect with most boots at first. The boot is a bit heavier than common shoes, if you're used to wearing gym shoes it'll bother you at first, but if you're a boot wearer it won't be noticeable. Only the heel and tongue is leather lined, the rest is a cloth that might protect the foot and keep it dry. Maybe. I don't plan to use them actually hiking or doing great walking so I'm not your person to talk to, but after wearing them about ten times I can say they are probably best for every day wear and city walking. Has a low height about chukka height, but the colors are accurately reflected on the Danner and the Zappos website. I would never recommend this style to my friends, because they're unique looking and I want to keep that style for myself, but I would recommend Danner causal boots to friends and enemies.

Extremely well built hardy boot. I have a slightly larger L foot and very uncomfortable large toe pinch, possibly due to a more narrow toe box in these boots!

I've had these boots for several years now and still going strong. They are almost ready for a re-sole now after being worn nearly every day. The only "complaint" I have is that they are very stiff when new so I wore them every other day for a couple of weeks before they had conformed to my feet. After that they provided good protection from sticks, rocks etc. while hiking. The build is superior and it seems like the uppers will last forever. I rate comfort as good, getting better with use, as they aren't tennis shoes. They offer great protection from the elements though. They are totally waterproof, even standing in shallow water. I would recommend these boots to anyone wanting high quality of build and materials that will last a long time. I liked them enough to buy them for my sons.

After the first couple days. My feet are completely dry and warm along with a pair of wool socks. This winter has been rougher for us in Philly. In the snow they have been awesome. The break in period maybe a little longer then desired. Great boot. I'm a Keen person, first Danner purchase, and I'll be looking at them more often now. Although I picked them up at a lower price than what they are now. Woot for me!

These have a great, comfortable fit with no break-in needed. They are very well made. The stiff sole works great for me. They are waterproof and not too heavy. They are not super stylish- they looks like cop's shoes.

A sturdy shoe and would have kept it but it is not a D width very tight in toe. I'm a true 12 D and this is not 12 D.

After the painful break in process, these boots should hold up for many years. Don't expect to be able to wear these on a regular basis until you've broken them in. It took me a month and some very bad blisters on my Achilles heel. Comfort rating based on post break-in.

These are the best looking and most uncomfortable boots that I have ever owned, the design looks great but the folded leather on top of your foot is so uncomfortable that they are unwearable.

The Underpass Overlook is like a Brooks bicycle seat : you need to break it Afterwards it is a superb winter walking shoe. Not too hot inside and reasonably warm for long winter walks. Excellent leather quality. I like the 1950s ski booth look. The Danner shoes run half to one size larger. One of my Danner is 11 and this one is 11.5 while all other shoes of mine are size 12. Do not order them from Danner directly. Their web site is positively dysfunctional and they just got hacked into it losing all credit card numbers.

These are amazing boots. Danner is incredible. I couldn't find them locally in San Francisco, so I opted to buy them here, which was a bit of a risk for me considering how boot sizes can vary by manufacturer. Here's the short story: I have size 13 feet. I bought size 13 Danner's and I probably should have gotten a 12.5. They work great though, but I need thinker socks and high-arch insoles. Once broken in (treat them first! Seriously.) they fit great. Highly recommended. They are heavy boots though so do keep that in mind when considering how you best want to use them.

This is a great boot. I do landscaping for a living and this boot is perfect. A little stiff at first but once broke you can wear them all day. I will buy Danner boots again.

I'm normally a 9.5 and in this boot I'm a solid size 9. I've been wearing them for just a few days but they are very comfortable and wont need much break in, although they're going to get better looking as they wear in. These boots are fairly minimalist. There's no liner and they look quite simple. I think that is part of the appeal. I like knowing they're made in the USA and the craftsmanship is exceptional. I would have bought the darker version of the Forest Heights but I didn't like the white stitching. I cant find anything to criticize with these boots yet. Thanks Danner and Zappos for a satisfying experience.

Fantastic! The absolute best utilitarian boot on the market! Stitch-down construction insures stability and durability from sole to bed. Vibram outsole has fantastic tack. Looking for a good work, hunting, sport, or hiking boot? Try out Danner, immaculately constructed.

Worth every penny - This is my 2nd pair of rain forest boots and I don't think I will every buy another boot. Working construction I am on my feet all day and my boots are one of the most important tools I have. I don't think you will find better quality boot than a Danner. Made in America, gor-tex lined and all leather. Before I tried danner's I had a set of other brand boots that cost about $120, they lasted about 7 months and were not very comfortable after about 2 months. Danner take a few days to break in, but my last set lasted me 3 years. If I was not so hard on the leather I could have re-soled them and kept wearing them because they were still pretty comfortable. They may be cost more than other boots, but it cost less in the long run because they last so much longer. Keep them oiled and any one who is hard on there boots should be happy with this boot. The only bad thing I found about this boot is the gor-tex will start to leak after about 8 months. If you are in wet weather a lot it might be a good idead to buy a pair just for wet weather and a pair for every day use.

Worth the money, you will never regret the purchase - I work construction and do a lot of hunting on the weekends. There isn’t a boot made that has the comfort and durability of a Danner. Excellent craftsmanship and made from materials that will last. I have purchased at least one pair of boots from about every manufacturer, none of them compare to a Danner.

Great Boots - My closet holds 4 pair of Danners. The Rain Forest is my favorite rough country boot. It is comfortable all day, and looks good too.
