The newest premium denim contender comes from the most unexpected place, Cookie Johnson, the wife of sports legend and philanthropist Magic Johnson. With a keen eye for trends and how to wear them, Johnson despaired over the lack of premium denim for women with a figure like hers, fit, but curvy. "I couldn't find jeans to fit my body type," she explains. "It frustrated me to try on every pair in the store and leave with nothing." Over the years Johnson realized that her testimony was one of many women. So, instead of waiting for a brand to appear that would fill the void, she decided to create one.
A graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Retailing of Clothing and Textiles, Cookie Johnson is collaborating with denim golden boy Michael Glasser, the mastermind behind Seven for all Mankind, Citizens of Humanity and current owner of Rich & Skinny to launch Cj by Cookie Johnson.
Through his own blue jean journey, Glasser, too, had uncovered this missing market for the woman who wants a designer look, but doesn't fit into the standard, slim cut of premium jeans. A few meetings later and Cj by Cookie Johnson answered that demand: a new premium denim line embracing real bodies in both fit and style. Call it fashion kismet.
With Johnson's instinct for fashion and Glasser's seasoned hand, Cj by Cookie Johnson is quickly becoming denim's new MVP. Johnson, meanwhile, is overwhelmed with the reactions she sees in dressing rooms across the country. "I've seen everything from tears of relief to sexy struts in front of the mirror," she smiles. "The confidence that great-fitting jeans give women is the most rewarding thing about creating Cj." Cj by Cookie Johnson debuted with an all-star line-up of styles: boot cut, straight leg, boyfriend, high-waist, and legging. At a price point of $145-$198 the line is available in sizes 24-38.

I wear a size 16 and I ordered a 38 waist. They fit well. I probably could have done a size down but I can shrink if necessary I figure. I am 5'10" and they are long. That's what I wanted - to be able to wear with heels without them looking like "highwaters". Very pleased with purchase. Am ordering another pair in a different color.
I really love these jeans. The fit is perfect and they keep their shape. Awesome!
These are so cute and that is why I am so bummed that they run so small. I had a similar pair of Cookie Johnson pants in a 14 that are too big so I ordered these in a 12. They run about 2 sizes too small. Gorgeous color though.
Nice color and thickness. However, they were way too long and started stretching in the waste immediately.

I love this. So comfortable, I really like the waist and the all over feel of these jeans. You will forget you have them on they are so comfortable. I do find that that mine are a bit too big so I recommend going down one size.
I already had a pair of these jeans and decided I needed another one. They are fabulous - very flattering. I first ordered a pair that were too big. I called Zappos and they sent out a smaller pair the very next day. I found the customer service to be phenomenal. I will definitely be ordering from this company in the future!
I order one size down from normal, I'm usually a size 12 pant, and I ordered size 31, and it was a great fit. My first thought was wow. I wore them all day with the tags on to make sure they didn't stretch out and get baggy... they did stretch but not very much. When you get up from sitting they don't need to be adjusted or pulled up! They fit a smaller waist and a bigger butt/thigh body perfectly. They are long, but I would have to hem them regardless. They are just as comfortable as yoga pants! My only complaint is that since the fabric is so stretchy and forgiving that it doesn't hold you in as much as some other jeans do, so they are not quite as slimming as I was hoping because of this reason. But they still are great, and I'm going to keep them. I think I will only order from this brand for jeans from now on; they are worth the money.
I have two pairs of this cut in different colors. Best jeans on me, I'm tall and, hmmm, curvy, let's say. Very comfortable and these make me look as good as any jean can, given my body shape.
