The leather is not as heavy as I expected, heel is cheap looking plastic. Overall comfortable boot with pretty much no break in.

Gotta get ‘em - Got my boots about 2 years ago and they only get better with time. These are the real deal. So if you want the finest Engineer boot money can buy, look no further. Buy these boots to fit. Don't mess around with sole inserts or the like. They fit more like cowboy boots, so if you have a high instep, you may have trouble getting them on. The oil resistant soles grip the asphalt like nobody’s business. The looks speak for themselves.

Disappointed with heel - Chippewa has made a change in the construction of the heel on their engineer boots. Changed from multiple layers of leather to a solid rubber heel. Cheap look. Not happy with the change.

Opening for foot is narrow, hard to get on and off. Right foot, top is very tight and causes pain and redness. Insole was not cushioned, insert was needed to walk with comfort.

Very comfortable boots. I found these boots comfortable right out of the box. Good looking boots also.

Additional Brand Information

Since 1901, Chippewa has been creating footwear based on simple, fundamental rules. Most importantly, they use only the best materials, the best construction techniques and the most innovative technology. The result -- unquestionably the best boots around. That's what we mean when we say Chippewa Integrity.

Initially, Chippewa started with only logger boots in its product line. Constructed of double and triple leather midsoles and hand-plugged outsole spikes, the logger boots were designed to assist loggers as they rolled the logs down the rivers to the mills. Based on that state-of-the-art boot, Chippewa gained a reputation for quality and began expanding the product line to include more boot categories.

The past century has brought significant changes in the need for quality outdoor work and sport footwear. Chippewa Boots continues to add new products to its inventory to meet the needs of its loyal following. As part of the Justin Brands, Inc. family, quality and craftsmanship continue to be the leading guides in its development, just as it has been for the last 100 years. Rugged as the land they walk, Chippewa. Live the Spirit.

Cool Boots!! It was my alternative to some women's boots and I tried them on today for riding on my bike! Once you got in (it's a little hard, I guess because they're new and a little stiff) they are what they've promised: great look, great feeling to wear!!!! By the way: thank you to the CS rep., packing & shipping my items!!!!!

Review of Chippewa 11," Odessa Engineer - I bought these boots for my husband. He really liked them and they are comfortable. I had to have zippers put in them as they were a little hard to get on and off.

11" Chippewa’s Black Engineer Boot - The boots are fine but in cold weather they are a little chilly in the wind. Other than that they are perfect.

Very Nice Boots - It's very hard to find a pair of riding boots that are truly "wide" - these come pretty close. I purchased a pair of HD ones -- those didn't come close. These Chippewa’s are nice, great quality and are actually pretty comfortable.

The best Tank Girl boot for the buck - This boot has style and functionality. It is a hard wearing boot--this is only the second I've had and the other I wore out during the two years I was without a car and walked EVERYWHERE.

Good boots, could be better - First of all these Chippewas are pretty exactly the boot I was looking for in a motorcycle boot. They have the classic engineer style and are completely functional. They grab onto the road like nobody's business and the heel provides a perfect placement on the pegs. I chose this one instead of the steel toe version because in my experience with steel toes, they leave your toes icy, which is definitely bad, especially on long cold rides. The only problem is my shifting has formed a bit of a dent on the toe area, which would have been avoided with steel toes. I have compensated in my shifting to combat the problem, but I might have been happier with the steel toe version, especially since it is not much more expensive and I live in California where my long cold rides are fairly limited.

Lost in translation - This boot looks like the real deal, but if you have a double E wide foot, it failed big time; it is a D at best, but marked a (Wide) EE and that’s a sad commentary for a American-made boot that once was true-to-it's "good" name. Bummer! Meanwhile, back at the ranch Zappos still rules!

Motorcycle boot - This is a great boot! I can't give the comfort a 5 star rating yet, as I have not worn them that much so far. The boot fits like most new boots do when you have had them on only a few times. The leather feel is great, and the boots are easy to walk in. If I were to buy a second pair, it would probably be this American-made boot.

GREAT Boot - Gotta tell you, I love this boot. VERY functional with great looks. It was a choice between Chippewa's Harness Boot and the Engineer Boot. I went for all around comfort that I could walk in, work, and play in... that'd be this one. I like the looks... It's industrial looking without too much of the cowboy look (I live in the city). The leather is thick but buttery soft and not shiny or shinable. There is no in-sole so I went for a half size larger and threw a pair of arch-support soles in and bingo. The heel and bottoms have great traction on all surfaces (another reason I did not go with a cowboy style). I was sold on the other comments, made in USA, the looks, and craftsmanship of the pair. If this is on your list... GET EM!

RB Nashville - True fit, comfort and great low key style, actually good for walking and stays fairly dry in heavy rain on a motorcycle, recommend!

2nd Pair I've Owned - This boot is both comfortable and looks great. I originally bought a brown pair when I was in N.Y. and often looked around shoe stores to find another pair in black. It wasn't until I found Zappos.com that I found this boot in black and many other boot styles to choose from. I will definitely come back often.

Great motorcycle boots - First pair of Chippewa boots I have owned. The leather, materials and craftsmanship is superb. I was going to buy Frye boots but thought I would try these American made boots instead. I received them next day from Zappos and after seeing them for less and writing to Zappos received notice that I was being credited for the difference plus a percentage (whatever their policy is). Their service is the best, bar none.

Nothing better... Looking for an engineer boot but can't decide amongst the seemingly endless choice of brands and styles? This is it. Chippewa has perfected the Engineer here and I've tried other Chippewa’s, Frye, Double H...you name it. Right upon opening the box I was blown away and knew I wouldn't have to buy another pair of boots for years and years to come. Zappos delivers again with service that is beyond excellent in the best looking, most comfortable boot I've had. I only wish I could give it more than five stars.
