These are mens work boots, but I can't find a pair of womens work boots that suit me, so I had to buy mens. The smallest size Zappos sells in mens boots is 7, and this is about one half size too long in the foot for me, so I'll be going to Chippewa's online site to buy a 6.5. These are nice boots; just too long, and also a little stiff, but I think that they'll break in

When my workplace mandated steel toe boots, I knew I had to go for something that would be more comfortable and durable than the cheap, ill-fitting boots I was supplied. I made the right choice with Chippewa, a brand I've come to trust mightily over the past few years. It started with a pair of the Katahdin Iron Works Engineer Boots they made in conjunction with LL Bean, then further on with the Homestead boot for lighter, more stylish (though still durable) footwear to kick around the city in the Autumn. These boots required practically zero break-in; I was wearing them out of the box when they arrived at my workplace. I fitted them with an insole (I walk about a mile over the course of a day while at work) and they are more comfortable than any pair of slippers I've ever worn. The leather is extremely supple for easy maneuvering, but has stood the test of the last 5 months of knocking around this warehouse/shipping department. The sole has shown very little wear after wearing these for 40 hours a week for 5 months on concrete floors and docks. For a work boot, they are about as nice as they come. Fashion is not my concern on the job, but my regular "uniform" of cuffed skinny jeans and a black or grey t shirt goes well with these bad boys. Of course, they are completely filthy, but that's what they're meant for. I'm not about to wear these on a date, so I only clean them every couple of weeks or so. Since I've had another Chippewa pair for 4 years this winter, I know these will stand up to whatever I put them through. The listed safety criteria they meet speak for themselves. These are stylish, comfortable, and above all safe and durable steel toe boots that will keep your feet easy and free from the smaller dangers of your workplace. A steal at this cost.

Quality made penny's, and made in America. I get a lot of compliments on these, they look great with jeans and chinos. Built like they will last a lifetime.

Great quality pair of shoes, and made in the USA. Wear them almost daily, I switch out with the pair of Chippewa Chukkas #30103 I also picked up. Also want to mention the Vibram outsole has great traction in the ice and snow. Fantastic!

This the first Chippewa boots I've bought and WOW Chippewa knocked this out of the park. No break-in period at all. Can be easily tightened from lose to as tight as you can stand. Bought the EE Wide and runs a little narrower that other boot manufactures. But that's alright with me because my feet are wide but were always a little too loose in other wides. I'm not done yet. The best quality about these boots are that they are MADE IN THE USA! OO-RAH.

Okay, I thought that these would fit good but they do and don't; don't know why, maybe because of the safety toe. They were roomy in the instep and I had a lot of lace to pull through before I can tighten them up so I had a extra footbed and placed it in there to take up the room and it fit. Now these don't fit like a non safety toe boot do expect some roominess in there. Other than that the boots are awesome. Always had chips; went with Wolverines. They always busted on the side where the leather meets the sole in a year. Hope these don't do the same. I do warehouse and drive so I need the water proofing and so far they are awesome.

Nice rich color. My feet are flat and quite wide so I got the wide cut in a half size smaller than my dress shoe size and it fits very well. They don't weigh much and the sole absorbs shock.

Very comfortable boot, and fits great. But not durable. I work in a metal shop and these boots look worn as though I've had them a year. In a about a week of wear, both toes have been slashed and shoestring torn. Very soft leather. I love Chippewa but I advise against wearing these nice boots to a worksite they aren't meant for. Can't beat the comfort though. A+

Amazingly comfortable, a little roomy in size but when unnecessary purchased Dr. Scholls orthopedic inserts added for "extra comfort soles" they were perfect for 9.5 EE. Highly recommend these boots if you're ranching, or just want a superior pair of boots!

Wide width boots have always been very hard for me to find. I wear a 4E. However, being on my feet all day, it is very important that my feet are happy. I took a chance and bought from Zappos-and couldn't be happier. The width was perfect and the fit was great. Break in time was less than 3 hours. The boot quality is great.

I really like the boots. They are very comfortable and feel and look like high quality boots. The only issue I had is that I wear size 11 shoes for all shoes but I bought the 11 and they were too big. 10½ fit me perfectly.

9" Waterproof Insulated Super Logger Posted: 6/27/15

I have the steel toe non insulated super loggers model #25407. This style is the 25405 if I remember right. I just purchased my 2nd pair. All I can say are these boots are amazing. My first pair lasted two years of hard use. Only reason I replaced them is the steel toe was showing and was allowing water and snow to get inside my boot. Otherwise I'd still have them. Excellent build quality and superior comfort. I can't recommend these boots enough. The only drawback I have is the chipatex waterproof liner is a little hotter to wear than say an e-vent brand or Gore-Tex but shares the same reliable performance of those brands. Also these boots are heavy, heavier than some other loggers I've had in the past due to the thickness of the leather and also the fact the sole and heel of these boots are taller than many other loggers by about 1/2-3/4". They do take a little getting used to. But again I can't recommend them enough. And don't be scared away by the initial stiffness. Once they break in it will be the best logger boot you will ever own, unless you go all out and buy a pair of custom Wesco's.

Overall I like the look and feel of these boots. However, I don't care for the quality of the leather very much. For the price, it seems the quality is lower than expected. The leather is fairly thin and stiff when new.

Better than Docs, cheaper than Red Wings, made in the USA. The boots I received had scuffs on the side and dirt on the bottom (from someone else wearing them, probably). They also were missing the American flag pendant, and were seemingly the wrong color (though the correct model of boot as verified by the markings on the tongue). More of a creamy brown than the waxy dark brown in the product photo. Zappos also charges $25 more than Amazon, which is the same company. Why? No idea. Contacted Zappos customer service and they basically told me "yes, we charge more" and "don't know / that's impossible" about the missing pendant, dirt and wrong color. No explanation, no apology, no offer to keep me a happy customer. Basically "we already have your money." Totally happy with the boots, but pretty "meh" about Zappos. Now I remember why I never order shoes from this place.

Always wore New Balance but the 978 didn't fit like the 977, so I was hesitant to try the new 1569. I thought I'd try this Chippewa boot, one of the few choices in a 13 4E. Despite being imported (what isn't anymore) they seem like a good boot and are comfortable enough. I haven't worn them on a rigorous hike yet so time will tell how they feel and wear.

The leather around the toes on one of the boots started tearing falling apart after only a couple of weeks. I was actually able to cut the leather with my finger nail. But I patched the hole in the toe with some jb weld and continued to ware them and all was good for about 4 months now the leather is separating from the bottom sole along the side on both boots. I have never had a pair of work boots ware out so fast.

I was looking for a good riding boot to wear with jeans. A sturdy boot is minimum safety for me if I don't like to wear a full Motorcycle boot. I tried a lot of different brands and styles. I really like Red Wing Shoes but the boots did not fit me. This boot feels good right out of the box. I usually wear size 12 with superfeet insoles on all my shoes and it works well with this boot. To test I ordered 11 1/2 wide and 12 regular to try. The size 12 fits me great in the toe box I could not see a difference in the wide version and the 11 1/2 may even be a bit longer. This boot is well made and the material is nice and thick. Worth the money, actually reasonably priced for that type of boot. I wore it all day straight out of the box.

I loved these boots but when they arrived they had a tag on them stating that they had chemicals in them known to cause cancer... Plenty of boots out there without cancer causing chemicals. No thank you. I only wish they gave me the warning before I brought them into my house and wasted the fuel to get them here and back. :( Chippewa use natural tanning agents so I can wear your boots and you can have less impact on the environment!

This is a very good looking American made boot. So much footwear is Chinese or Mexican made that I love finding US products. It runs a bit long so I ordered a half size shorter for a good fit. The boot is surprisingly lightweight making it well suited to long days walking. I have previously owned their engineers boot before and while they are tough and long wearing, they are much heavier.

First off these are beautiful shoes with great leather, stitching and hardware. BUT the stiffness in the heel backing feels like a blister waiting to happen (not a millimeter of give). Add onto that that the laces need to be cinched up like a fat girl in a corset to avoid heel slip (seriously, the heel has the same waxy smooth leather INSIDE the heel bed but nowhere else inside). Who needs a shoe horn when you have one built I guess... Everything about actually wearing this boot rubs me the wrong way, literally.

The Chippewa (55160? 55161? style but before the "comp toe") boots were the best I have ever worn. They lasted three years in a brutal sand-casting foundry environment walking over steel, gravel, rough concrete, hot sand, oil, grease, water, etc., and even then the soles did not wear through. Then I tried to order another pair and alas, the "comp toe" was instituted and gone were the shoes that fit and felt great. I can't say enough bad about the "comp toe": The boot may still be true to size, but the "comp toe" apparently comes in one narrow skin-shredding toe-rubbing unyielding size. I have tried several sizes through Zappos, but alas, Chippewa is ruined until that miserable "comp toe" is removed. I wear a 9.5 5E although I managed to get by with the 3E from Chippewa without discomfort. Chippewa is far superior to Propet in durability and quality of the seal between the sole and the leather upper (Propet starts coming apart within a few months of squatting and the Propet sole only lasts about 10 months before the sole wears through). Please remove the miserable "comp toe" from the best boot made! At least give us a choice, there are still some of us who tell OSHA to go to hell where they belong. Sincerely, David Parker
