Received this boot in Crazy horse. The color is significantly lighter than that shown in the image. I would describe it as a beige rather than the nice dark brown shown.

Not the Chippewa I used to know. Leather is thin and cheap. $80 boot at best.

Bought these boots in October 2014, so I have had them almost 2 years. They are worn nearly every day on construction sites and on weekends working on a farm - so they are not babied. Clean and wax them twice a year, as you would any boot worth spending money on. They have about 1/8" tread left on the sole at the ball of the foot but still are plenty grippy to walk up dirt piles and hills with wet grass no problem. Pros: Very comfortable after a week break in Stand up to heavy use Take care of them, they take care of you Cons: None really - I use them hard and would have destroyed an off-brand of boots (Timberland, etc.) in a quarter of the time these started showing issues. Issues: About a year in the right heel started 'hissing' when I walked in the wet - think I blew out the heel. Minor annoyance - just ignore it. After 2 years, the sole started separating from the right toe (that's the one that drags every time I kneel down. Some DAP contact cement solved that problem a month ago with no further issues. The stitching which joins the lace up part to the toe part is starting to let go. Again, its to be expected with as hard as I work these boots. The welt on both boots has swelled and hardened and is starting to work loose because of the wet. Not really much you can do to prevent that - waxing doesn't really cover the welt that great even if you glob it on. Fully acceptable amount of wear given the age and hard use of these boots. Whoever is in charge of installing the hooks must have a lazy eye because they are not even. No biggie, just seems like they should be placed properly on boots that cost what these do. If you're a weekend warrior or looking for a fashion boot (whatever that is), these boots will outlast you if you wax 'em and try to keep them dry. If you work for a living, these boots will as well. They are not insulated, but I actually move around for a living, so keeping warm isn't a problem. Great boots - I would buy them again but I am going to try the Red Wings next.

I have to review these boots. This is my second pair. My first pair, which is still serviceable after almost two years, is in black. I must tell you that the quality control from Chippewa is quite poor. The reason I say this is because the new pair, although exactly the same size, the brown ones fit as though my feet are swollen. There is a huge width gap in the lacing. I therefore will have to rate them overall as poor.

While I liked the style of this boot, it was extremely uncomfortable in two areas. At the top of the shaft it "bit" into the back of my leg. The lower part of the tongue seemed to bunch up and I couldn't seem to get it in a comfortable position.

I have worn them for a week and I am on my feet for at least 12 hours a day climbing and hot, wet and cold Keep my feet dry which is what I need I would have been much happier if the shoes came in 5 1/2 wide but I have resigned my self into never getting a shoe that fits perfect. Women's boots are never wide enough and men's boots are never small enough that said if I wear heavy socks they fit fine. I went to my local work shoe place they had 5 women's and 500 men's boots to choose from men's started at size 7 women's were no available in wide widths. You would think after all this time manufacturers would learn WOMEN work and most are just settling

Excellent boots at a great value. They take some time to wear in though, on account of the thick leather.

I do not like shopping in retail stores for shoes. So, In the past three months I have tried more than 20 pair of Chukka type boots, most from Zappos-- Clarks, Tom's, New Balance, Dunham, Uggs, and LL Bean's-- none of them fit right, especially in the toe box. Then these American made Chippewas showed up. Yep, they cost a bit more, but are feeling great. I don't want to take them off. In all fairness, I should mention that I am also keeping a similar pair from Red Wing, another original American bootmaker.

This is the second pair of these I bought for my husband. They run a bit large so size down a whole size. Great quality and looks. 1st pair lasted 2 years through rough nyc winters and lots of city walking. Nice casual boot.

These are 100% quality shoes! WOW! Although I found them to run larger than marked, Zappos quickly exchanged them and I'm keeping the 1/2 size smaller.

Great boots, I tried on some similar Chippewa boots at a store, not quite the style I was looking for, and got a sense of what size would be right. These are going to be my work boots but the style is right for wearing around the city. Ordered a smaller size than I wear, worked outgreat.

Great shoes, this is my third pair. The only issue I have is the shoe laces only last about 30 days. The outer lace line comes apart and breaks. I've had the same issue on all three pairs. It's a great shoe, looks like they could put a better set of laces with them.

I mostly like the boots. As another reviewer stated, the boots are difficult to put on at first. The trick is to put your toes in as far as they will go and then pull on the assist strap at the back top of the boot. When the boot is laced up, the top of the boot is not snug enough to the leg. I have average size ankles and legs.

NEGATIVE ... Wanted a made in the USA boot where Chippewa hails...... For $170.00 thought these would be as good .... No Way .. The right boot is at least one size bigger and the ankle is over sized as well.. Cheaply made ... NO MORE MADE IN CHINA FOR ME...

Beautifully crafted boot. Photos don't do the leather justice. I came from the Red Wing Iron Ranger to this, and I prefer the look, fit, and finish of the Chippewa more. These boots look amazing dressed down with worn-in denim, or dressed up with slim chinos. Another benefit over the IR is the sole - the Rangers had a smooth sole, which is terrifying on ice or snow, making them useless. I suspect I'll be wearing this boot year-round. Can't say enough good things about it.

While I had to go with a half size smaller than my usual size, these boots are the bomb. Beautiful leather and extremely comfortable. With re-soling, I expect them to last for decades! And they come in a B width!

This is my first pair of Chippewas. These are hands down the most comfortable shoe/boot that I have ever owned. I ordered the Wide/EE in my normal size and the fit was perfect. The construction of the boot is awesome, and started receiving compliments the first day I wore them. I ordered another pair of shoes that did not fit, and returned them with ease! I love me some Zappos, and will remain a loyal customer!

I returned these boots after seeing, "this product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects." I understand that even trace amounts have to be disclosed under CA law and have come across this in the construction industry for years. I get the, "don't worry about it," view. I don't eat the galvanized anchor bolts I handle and I don't eat my boots. But if it is not such a big deal, why won't Chippewa tell me where the chemical is? They have a disclaimer on their website and advise their customers not to eat the boot. Great. Is the chemical in the sole or in the leather upper? If it is in the leather, I sweat all day in my boots and skin can absorb all kinds of chemicals. For peace of mind, I'm going with another brand.
