Bought for my son as a gift - he'd always wanted these but couldn't quite invest the cash. Works as an arborist, tree climber and invasive pest control. He loves them, great fit, no break in time, wouldn't get anything else ever again!

As always, a very painless and efficient shopping experience. I wanted a work boot, so I plugged in my size, 11.5/4E, into the search engine and reviewed what came up. The Chippewa won because of the waterproof leather uppers and the very plain utilitarian look. Very secure support on loose dirt and on the 30 degree slanted metal roof of my house.

Gave moderate blisters until broken in, even with wool hiking socks. Very comfortable after being broken in, but the sole began to separate from the upper portion almost immediately. By work week number two I had to exchange them for something else.

I like these boots a lot. They were recommended to me as a good boot for the price and I totally agree. I thrashed them, wearing them as a barista on my feet all day, 40 hours a week and sometimes off work as well. They are very comfortable and needed no break-in period. The laces didn't last long, which is the only thing that bothered me. If you clean the leather you can keep them looking good for a long time. For me, the soles started to wear out before anything else-- but if you want a replaceable sole, you should probably go with Red Wings and pay a little extra.

Switched to these from Redwing 608's 3 years ago. When I purchased them from a local store, the guy told me see you in 3 years. I wear these boots everyday, all day. Sure enough, its 3 years later and the soles are just starting to separate. Best boot money can buy. I used to go through 2 pairs of the Redwings every year.

Not a bad boot for the price. Not perfect. The arch support on the right boot is noticeably higher than on the left boot, a little uncomfortable. Hopefully this will compress down with time. Also the boots have developed squeaks in the last with time.

This is a great pair of boots. Made in the USA. Can be resoled and heels replaced. Will last many years...I am 62 years old and have owned Fryes, red wings, but this is my third pair of Chippewa's and I still have the first pair, these pull up boots are quality, and comfort, I wear them with my ortho insert and a hiking sock. Great for walking, on the motorcycle, and with my blue jeans going to church. This is a boot you can not go wrong with. Wife just came back from a conference at Zappos, great company, great service and fast delivery. Chippewa and Zappos rock!

I normally wear a 13 (I mean every shoe I've bought in the last 20+ years was a 13), but these were just huge. Ended up with a 12 EE and they are perfect. Tried Frye Boots in similar styles but these just fit and looked better and they were made in the US and not China like some of the Frye models. (I do love the Frye boots I do own though!)

I should have taken heed of the previous posts. I wear an 8, and needed a 7.5. They have a great fit and look awesome. After going over over the craftsmanship, the stitching is great, but I have serious doubts about the heel remaining adhered after any period of time. I took my thumb and put a little bit of pressure to the heel and the edges of the heel lifted up. I didn't want to push it to the limit, but I'm disappointed that I was able to do this. I'm worried it will come off if I get it snagged.

Great boots. Really comfy and I expect they will last a very long time. My only concern is the longevity of the sole. Daily use on pavement seems like it could wear it down a good bit. Resoling is always an option, though.

These are pricey, but they are well worth it. They provide great support, keep my feet warm and dry. They are a bit stiff, especially in the collar, but if you lace them up loosely, they will not constrict and will break in. They have thick soles and heels for great traction in slush/snow/mud (that is also nice when you are under 5'7"). They are a bit heavy, but, hey guys, you do not wear them to a dance hall. My only complaint is that I am a traditionalist, and I expect black loggers to have yellow laces (nylon or rawhide). If I get annoyed enough, maybe I will swap in some new ones. This is an awesome pair of boots!

Like many others who bought this boot, I was seriously considering a Red Wings boot (the Iron Ranger). When it really comes down to it, this boot has almost everything I wanted from the Iron Ranger for much less money. They have a leather midsole, they're double, if not triple stitched, they can be resoled pretty easily, and they're just built well. While the leather isn't as "buttery" and consistent as the Iron Ranger, the leather is actually nicer than it appears in the product photos. The contrast midsole is a really nice touch and stands out more than expected, which is a good thing. The American flag spangle can be removed pretty easily, which makes the boot look much nicer. If you want to be patriotic, consider that you just bought solid, good quality, American made boots - no flag pin necessary. My one complaint is that one side of one of the boots I received was a really crumpled looking leather as opposed to a smooth leather. As they break in, it looks better though, and it's more of a cosmetic thing - that piece of leather still feels durable. Even with that, I feel like I've won some kind of prize for getting such a great quality and nice looking boot for so much less than the Iron Ranger.

You can't go wrong with a pair of these boots. I'd previously ordered and returned the Red Wing Heritage Beckman boot, which is a similar style, and went with the Odessa instead, for several reasons. The price is almost half of what you're spending on RW shoes, and I truly feel the quality and craftsmanship with these Chippewa boots is streets ahead. They also have a thicker sole, and that's what I'm looking for, if I'm dropping so much money on leather boots.

I have to say, I'm a huge fan of Chippewa boots lately. After being severely disappointed with the recent quality level of Frye and Red Wing's Heritage Series, I decided to give Chippewa a try. These boots remind me of wearing an old school pair of Doc Martens, but on steroids. They've got a bomb-proof rugged sole, and the leather is top-notch. I would normally consider myself to have wide feet when ordering athletic shoes, but getting these in a D size fit the bill perfectly. Do yourself a favor and consider getting these over a pair of $300+ Red Wings. I truly feel you'll get a longer lasting and more comfortable boot.

These boots are fantastic! I've owned Red Wing work boots as well as Frye's, the Chippewa's exceed these in quality and comfort on both accounts. I read a review expressing concern about the comfort and break in time. I had about 4 days of break in on these boots, and this was only from the upper rubbing against my leg, this went away quickly and they fit like a glove already. I would, and have recommended these boots to friends already. As stated in other reviews, they seem to run 1/2 size larger than your normal shoe size. The first shipment had the wrong color of boot in the box, this was due to a manufacturer package mix up. I called at 4:30pm and explained what had happened, the girl that took care of me had the correct pair of boots on my front porch in Austin TX at 10:00am the next morning! I'm still scratching my head on how she made this happen. There is a reason why Zappos is the industry standard for customer service.

These are some solid boots. I am on my feet 12 hours a day working construction, maintenance, and loading trucks, and these things keep my feet comfortable and safe through it all. I have had them a few months now, and they are still in great shape considering what I put them through. I had a pair of Irish setters before these, and while they looked great and were comfortable they began falling apart after three weeks. I was hesitant to spend so much on boots, but it is definitely worth it for these finely made kickers. I normally wear an 11½ and have slightly flat feet. After reading some reviews I went with an 11W and they fit perfectly out of the box. Two downsides: They do not have great traction, and even with a few applications of Snow Seal are not waterproof. Otherwise excellent boots.

Great boot 2 months in! Had to go full size down compared to sneakers for proper fit. A little bit of room in the heel, medium weight wool sock fills it perfectly. Will take a little time to break in. Lots of Vibram tread but slick in the wet. Made in the USA!

these boot were comfortable right out of the box. They run a little wide so if you are trying to deside between wide or normal width you mat want to go with the normal width. The sole and footbed is very comfortable as well. I'm very happy with this boot.

These are descent boots, they fit the price point well. I would not recommend these boots for wear in any super wet conditions. I took mine to Park City Utah for a week and it just about tore my brand new boots up even, after sprayed with a water repellent. The break in period was shorter then I expected as the leather is already pretty soft. Its not a stylish boot but nice enough to wear from warehouse to office and you got to love the American Flag Logo. USA!

The king of boots from the king of boot companies. Frankly, I wouldn't have needed a new pair had my new puppy not taken an afternoon to rip the tongue out of my last pair. Sniff. At 6 years old, they were just "coming into their own." Anyway, I wasn't going to take any chances with inferior boots, so back to Chippewa I went. If I had a single complaint is that it takes a full season before you feel that the boots are broken in. Keep them away from teething puppies!
