Caterpillar Reviews
I work on stage as a lighting and set builder. 16+ hour days are normal and wearing work boots the whole time cause blisters and sweaty feet. These shoes work great to resole all those issues and still conform to Osha requirements. They feel like I am wearing a regular tennis shoe and they fit great!
I'd like to buy this shoe, but it doesn't seem to fit my foot right. 11.5 is too big. 11 puts my big toe too far to the side of the point of the toe of the boot. I'd say that I'm a difficult fit, though. Can't tell whether I like the sole construction or not. It has a lot of Phillips head screws in the bottom that look bad ass but I wonder whether they'd loosen and fall out. I was willing to risk it and send them back to Caterpillar if it was a problem. All in all, seems like a great shoe, but it doesn't work for me.
I bought them about 2 weeks ago, at this time - not keep glue in sole and seam. Do not hold threads.
It s a good looking shoe but cheaply made the insole is very thin and after 6 mos of wear the toe separated, not that tough.
Excellent ankle supporting lightweight work, hiking boot. Speed lacing is a plus. Comfortable foot bed.
Very comfortable boot perfect sizing unfortunately the first time I wore these boots the tab sewn on the back to hold while putting them on pulled away from the stitching!
These Caterpillar steel toed shoes are the most comfortable work shoes I've ever worn. No foot fatigue, pain or leg soreness. Fabulous!
Great looking boots. The curved up toe is more pronounced than I thought from looking at the photos, will take some time to get used to. I wear a size 9.5 and there were only size 10 in stock. Hoped they would fit, but will have to return for another style or wait for smaller size. Boots look good though!
Good quality construction - should last a long while even under the heavy use I give them. Only thing I would change is wish they were taller for more ankle support - but that is a personal preference. Another note - these were comfortable from day 1 - almost no break-in time required. Unusual for a heavy work boot!
They're comfortable and breathe well. So far I've really enjoyed them. The leather wears nicely and quickly if you wear them outdoors at all. In the evenings I take my dog to a wooded park about 5 blocks from my apartment and the day-to-day scuffs look nice. I walk to work (~3 miles each way) so I tend to burn through soles pretty quickly. I haven't worn them every day but have probably worn them for around 20 trips to date and the wear on the soles is relatively low. Walking on sidewalk, the hard rubber outsoles definitely click -- though not as loud as a true leather sole. So if noisy shoes bother you, you might want to consider a different pair. Overall, an excellent boot.
Not very comfortable. Gave me blisters after two days. Only kept for three days, bought another brand that was more true to size.
Awesome, but the soles feel thin. Not a big deal. The inside of the shoe - I can feel the rim or edge of the sole where it meets the wall of the shoe. An insert resolves this. Again, not a big deal. The shoes are great and I hope they hold-up for at least a year.
This a great boot at this price point. They quickly start to develop nice wrinkles/folds in the middle for a nice aged look. I think they will hold up better than my expensive, handmade English ones because of the rubber pads protecting the sole. Getting a lot of compliments on these… a nice, simple boot. I might put some insoles in them for more comfort while standing on a hard floor all day. And they feel a little narrow to me, but I have wide feet.
This shoe almost hits a sweet spot between business styled and everyday walking footwear, an area which few products are available from today's shoe manufacturers. Most shoes either very dressy and very uncomfortable or very comfortable while very casual. This shoe is rugged and padded enough that I would not hesitate to use it as my daily wear shoe. At the same time the subtle colors and leather styling makes it appropriate for most business casual environments. One warning: Sizes seem a bit off with this shoe. The size 11 was cavernous on my foot, it seemed to fit like a size 12. The size 10.5 is completely snug, a perfect fit. So you may have to return a pair or two until you find your size.
I thought, after owning a pair of Caterpillar boots a few years ago, that a newer version would be better. These shoes look very nice and were pretty comfortable. Unfortunately, they were not very durable. A majority of the eyelets popped out and, the laces are pretty thin and also fell apart in just over three months.I am a home inspector and most of my job consists of walking around someones home.I also go on top of roofs as well as in attics. The exterior of these shoes also were worn out in a short time frame.Fortunately, Zappos return policy, being the best there is that I have found, has allowed me to purchase another brand (Bates) and hopefully, those will perform better.I could not recommend these shoes unless they were for going out once a month and involved nothing more than just walking around.
I am now on my second pair of these and I pretty much swear by them. They are comfortable, and lightweight. I used to have to take my boots off to breathe and rest at least once per 12 hour shift, but not with these. They have awesome traction and are very roomy. The only problem with them is that the laces seem a little weak and will need replaced eventually. The cost is very reasonable, especially with the Caterpillar name on them.
Great construction, very high quality leather, fits like a glove, break in period wasn't too long. I use them for everyday work and going to the bar. I've ridden over a couple thousand miles on my motorcycle with them and in the spot that rubs the shifter they and held up better than any boot I've had.
As a Land Surveyor, I hike around a lot in all kinds of terrain so comfort is as important as functionality. This boot's been moderately comfortable from the beginning and it feels like once I get them broken in they will be very comfortable. I am very satisfied with this boot.
