  This is my second pair of Birkenstocks and I've found that their sizes run a little big. For instance, I wear a women's 7.5 in Toms...and in these I wear a 37 (which is considered a 6-6.5 to them). But I love the sandal. The leather is perfect...and I think the color could pass for black or brown depending on your outfit, but it's actually a dark dark brown sandal. I love them. So comfortable.

  I have been wearing a Vaneli 8½W for at least six years and they always fit my feet perfectly. On these shoes, however, the 8½W is too long. I am returning them for an 8W. So I do not agree with the last reviewers that these shoes are true to size or smaller. Also, I did not find the toe box narrow. Perhaps I received an odd cut. I will find out soon enough when the new size arrives. I am 52, and still looking and dressing hip, in spite of the challenge to find comfortable and stylish shoes. Vaneli comes the closest for a reasonable price!
