These are the best boots I've ever worn. I bought them before Zappos was born, but their outstanding service will only make the buying experience better. I bought a pair of these locally as I was getting ready for a 110-mile, 11-day pack hike through Philmont Scout Ranch in NE New Mexico. After a couple of break-in hikes these boots fit like a natural extension of my feet. They may be a little heavy, but that's because they're built for years of use and abuse. Now, 10 happy years into ownership, these boots have all the markings of a sturdy old work hand. They're exceedingly comfortable, especially with heavier wool socks (which you'll be wearing anyway if you're using the boots for their intended purpose). The sole and insoles are still holding up beautifully, and I'm even still on my first pair of laces. I apply a couple of coats of Camp Dry every other year or so to keep the waterproofing for the leather upper, but I don't know if that's even needed. Although they're pricey, they're the best boots I think your money will buy. I compared these to Vasque boots and Montrail boots in comparable price points and these boots felt superior in every way. I believe they have superior craftsmanship, superior materials, and superior construction. These boots are worth every penny, and should give you many years of faithful, hard working service.
Brands I'd also recommend: There is no comparison to Asolo. These are the best!

I've owned my pair for two years and they are great. The break in with leather takes a little longer. On the way back from a hike, I waded knee deep in the Pacific then walked about a half mile back to the car. That seemed to speed things up (just a suggestion). They're tough and comfortable. Yes, I'd recommend them to a friend.

3 years and I have many miles and memories with them. They have held up better than any other shoe I have ever owned. The sole is finally wearing through but after... how many hundreds of miles? Many dozens of backpacking trips? These boots are amazing. The people at Asolo are great too! Friendly people! After owning a pair of these boots you will never buy anything but Asolo again!
Brands I'd also recommend: Chaccos for wet days, Keens for "office" days.

As a person of size, I need good shoes. I wear these for 12-18 months with only minimal wear. This is my 3rd pair, I only have great things to say. The pedometer said I had 950 miles on my first pair (on and off road walking). I wear these daily and have no complaints or criticisms at all.
Brands I'd also recommend: None. They are the best.

About Asolo
Asolo´s goal is to create great footwear for all of your outdoor needs, in all conditions, at all altitudes: from light walking to hiking, from backpacking to the most treacherous climbing - whether it be on ice or mixed terrain. The footwear is designed around the foot; flexible, lightweight, and at the same time, highly resistant. Fit and performance are major strengths for this design. The breathable footwear is able to shock-absorb even on the toughest terrains, while keeping away humidity, water, and cold weather. The highly researched soles are constructed in such a way that they will prevent slips and falls on the most slippery of terrains.
Since the beginning, Asolo is connected with experiences and people who live for the mountain. Together with the brand, they test boots that have been developed for the alpine/mountaineering athletes and for all people who "live" the mountain with love and passion.

Great boots. Immediately felt comfortable the first time I put them on. Great support walking over rough gravelly roads. Also, kept my feet dry when going through muddy puddles.

These are hands down the best hiking boot I have ever worn. I thought they would be uncomfortable and require extensive break in. I took them out of the box put them on and they were super comfortable. I wear them every day just for knocking around.

Good, comfortable and stable shoe with about 35lb backpack (and without it). I took it for a test drive on different North West trails and it worked will in each and every scenario. It's worth noting that this shoe felt good out of the box and didn't require any sort of break-in. I just put them on, tested them on a wet 5 mile hike and it was perfect with no worries. I like the fact that these shoes kept my feet warm but not hot. I went hiking in upper 30's weather and I was surprised at the comfort level and lack of cold/hot variations. It was just comfortable. It worked well on rough terrain, slippery mud and stony trails. Long and short hikes offered the same level of comfort. It gripped the ground well and supported my feet and ankles. It kept water out but let heat and moisture out, to maintain a nice dry interior. I could feel heat coming out of the shoe, by laying my hand on it, so it works as advertised in this area too. When I got back to the car, I switched shirts because the base layer and shirt were wet, but the shoes were still comfy. After driving for a while, I realized that I didn't feel the shoes--it felt as if I were driving with socks and that was a great bonus. Finally, the hard soles aren't suitable for daily wear, but given the 'out-of-box' fit, they are ready to go 'as is'. These are expensive but in my mind well worth the investment. They are well built and I expect them to last for years. Last but not least--I looked for a 5 start shoes and thanks to the great Zappos feedback system, I was able to find it on my initial order. I'm very pleased with the Zappos service and fast shipping. If you buy here you can expect a superior product and fast shipping.

Looks, comfort, and support are critical for my uses. I am very impressed with the stability while walking over uneven terrain. With cheaper shoes I experienced minor calcium accretion on my heel, perhaps related to my more advanced age. I also noted a substantial improvement in knee and hip aches after a day of walking in my Asolo boots. I would prefer slightly more heel cushion but not enough to drop my rating as additional cushion would decrease ankle roll resistance. In summary, I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the Asolo TPS 520 GV.

I normally wear shoes in a women\'s size 7.5 or 8 EE width. I had trouble finding a women\'s hiking boot that was wide enough in the toe but not too large overall. The wide women\'s Asolos were not wide enough - nor were boots in several other brands. The men\'s Asolo in a 7D - considered Medium for men - was the perfect solution. It\'s comfortably wide in the toe area and fits well overall. I broke these in for a few 1 mile walks, then went on a 4 mile steep hike with no problems at all. These boots offer great comfort and support.

By far the most comfortable hiking boot I have ever owned. Even straight out of the box there was absolutely no problem with blisters or pain. After break-in they are fabulous; the footbed has molded nicely and the leather is ideal. I have taken these boots to The Tetons, the Alps in Germany and the Inca Trail in Peru and I would not think of going on an outdoor vacation without them. The sole is lasting pretty well, only minor wear after 1 year. The leather cleans up very nicely, after hiking through the Andes for a week, I had them cleaned and shined at the airport and then worn them to dinner looking like new. A great purchase!

Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten. I purchased these boots for my husband after a great deal of research. He is a volunteer and helps maintain the Appalachian and the Mountain to Sea Trails. He gives these boots a great deal of rugged trail work climbing up and over granite boulders, downed trees, knee deep mud, water, snow and ice. He often uses orthotics however these boots provide tremendous support, so much so, that their use is not necessary. Please feel confident that you have just purchased the best boots for any heavy duty work you are planning. You will find these boots to be as comfortable as they are durable.

After wearing these boots for a couple of days, I have to say that I have not had a more comfortable boot from the get go. I have had very little soreness in the foot and they provide a very stable base to walk from. I have a semi-low arch and narrower than normal foot. The boots fit tightly around the ankle and lower leg and they leave ample room for the toes. So far I am extremely happy with the purchase!

I bought my boots in July and after several days of local walking I did 20 days of trekking in October in the Himalayas (primarily the Everest Circuit). I could not be more pleased with the results: my feet stayed warm and dry, but never hot; I walked on wet steps and wet rocks and rarely slipped, never falling; no blisters or discomfort of any kind. I did buy and wear a boot a half size larger than I normally wear, and it was perfect. I also have a very narrow foot, but could lace the boot snugly. I did add a good quality insert with a special arch pad. Now I am back home and I wear them every day. My wife even says they look nice.

My son has worn this brand for over 12 years. Price is good for the number of years the boot lasts. After 4 pairs, the quality is consistent and boot can be resoled.

I love my Asolo boots. I have 100% positive comments after wearing them for a month. The first day they were very comfortable and then last week I joined several others on a mountain trek. I did not slip or lose contact with where I put my foot one single time. I plan to wear on a 18 day Himalaya Trek in two months. I have complete confidence they are the boot for me.
