Short distance runner about 9 miles per week total. 6'4", 200 pounds. Flat feet. Used the Gel Evolution until discontinued... Rest in peace, old friend :-( Brooks Beast were nice until they did something very weird with them. Like the Mizuno Wave Alchemy okay and the Asics Gel Forte were okay but not great (I thought I read they were supposed to replace the Evolution but they aren't really in that class... not a huge surprise given its a first generation shoe in need of refinement). The Kahana 6 was a runaway success for my feet and I use these on concrete. I think they'd be okay for trails as well but haven't put them through that pace yet so won't comment. The Kahana 6 was amazing and my feet couldn't stop thanking me, as did my ankles and lower back. Not very heavy but good control for a mod-sev overpronator. They felt very supple overall and had good room in toe box with nice breathability. I bought 8 pairs in 3 of the different colors. That's right, 8 pairs... and I'm not ashamed to admit it! I noticed they are getting hard to find and then, voila, the Kahana 7 appears. For my feet, the 7 is EXACTLY the same shoe as the 6 in new colors with some minor styling changes, but nothing of substance. For me, that is nothing but good news. Thanks, Asics, for not messing with a good thing!!!

Slippery when wet! Love everything about these shoes and Asics overall, but they are slick as heck when on wet rocks and smooth wet concrete. Learned the hard way when I was "breaking" them in and slipped in the damp indoor concrete stairwell. I tried them on other wet surfaces and if its smooth and wet, look out. It's kind of strange, because the sole is pretty soft rubber. I gave them only 2 stars because this can be a major safety issue, especially for a "trail" shoe.

This shoe is well built and fits true to size if not a tiny bit smaller. they feel like gloves for your feet. The soles stick to everything which is great!

These are great shoes! They are comfortable and supportive. They will probably last quite a while if you are running/hiking on dirt paths or concrete. My weekly run/hike path takes me from dirt to granite scree and small jagged granite outcrops when I hike into the higher elevations. Round trip is a little over five miles and +/-1500' elevation gain for my weekly. I lost an entire lug (not just the traction pad) on my left shoe on my third trip, around mile 13. Not a huge deal, the shoes were still wearable and I had no issues or awkwardness. I just finished my eighth trip and I have lost the pad on the right heel heading up, leaving me with just the EVA foam for the entire run down the mountain. The difference in drop definitely means i'm tossing these comfy shoes, which is unfortunate. Basically, I got a little over 40 miles out of them. I will be looking for something a little more rugged. If you are just running on dirt, these will be great.

This is a shoe that fits well, supports well and overall is very comfortable to wear to the gym, hike and run. I feel this is a great value for those seeking a good trail shoe for a wider foot.

These are cheep Chinese junk. Ok for around the house and in the garden but not as a true athletic or running shoe. The removable insole is just glorified cardboard.

I'd also recommend: Merrell, Keen, Ecco
