Wow! I needed a dark brown belt to match a pair of dark brown shoes. I have been through five other brands, and either the dark brown wasn't really dark, or the belt was cheaply made (or both). This belt is clearly high quality, and the color is as dark as I needed. This is indeed wide for a dress belt, but not too wide. I would not want to go any larger for dress or suit trousers. If you're looking for a wide belt for jeans, this is not wide enough, and it's too dressy for jeans anyway. I'm so pleased with this belt I am ordering a few more in different colors.

Shouldn't it match? I bought this belt in the Chili Burnished Calf to match a pair ofAllen-Edmonds Weybridges in the same color. I was a bit shocked to find that the belt didn't particularly match the shoes- it was kind of a dull brown, and not very dressy. The shoes are tremendous and I would recommend them to anyone. The belt? My Perry Ellis is a better color match, and dressier.

Needed a belt in a hurry and Zappos came thru. Only issue is that these run a bit small in size. Great belt. Greater company!

Not as Advertised - I like this belt quite a bit. The chestnut is a beautiful brownish color, it has a nice style, well-made, & worth the money. My one issue is actually with Zappos & not the belt itself. Zappos advertises the belt as being "wide" & 1 & 1/2 inches (1.5 inches). It's NOT. In reality, it's a bit less than 1 & 3/8 inches. I bought it specifically because Zappos said it was 1.5 inches, so I'm disappointed.
